I also asked Midas last week to provide copies of my previous invoices but did not receive them. My understanding is that any applicable brake warranty would cover parts only, leaving me responsible for the labour charges. Given my previous experience and the lack of follow-up, I have decided to have the brake repairs completed elsewhere. When I went into Kal Tires to purchase new tires (the same season) they told me the alignment was off and the direction of the treads were completely wrong which Downtown Auto completed. Waste of money. This same auto repair shop told me they could not open the glove compartment but that they would have to break the lock and replace it with a new one that would cost me about $200. I refused the service. A day after my mom opened it herself with a screw driver! When even trained car technicians could not open the glove compartment, my mom did without breaking the lock. Was it they wanted to me to pay for more for nothing? Why would I even I go back when now I'm suspicious of possibly getting scammed (if not already)? The bottom line is they simply cared so little about my car and the service they provided me at the time, how can I ever think of going back? The service was awful to say the least and I did not feel they cared enough for my business or any returned business I would have given them in the long term. The only person that was kind was the receptionist during my first and last experience with Downtown Auto Edmonton repair shop. When servicing is done with care, that would be the auto repair shop you should take your business too. And in my experience, this ISN'T THE ONE. Consumer Beware! I originally paid for an inner tie rod repair and an alignment service as per the shop's recommendation. The exact same day I picked up the vehicle from them, there was a prominent creaking/clicking from the exact side they worked on. I had to leave for Calgary early next morning, and could not return immediately to have it addressed. As soon as I was back in town, I brought the vehicle straight back to them to have it addressed, but they completely dismissed the noise. About a month later, the outer tie rod end has developed play, resulting in clunking while driving. A part doesn't just instantly give out right after a technician finishes unbolting, and handling it while working around it. Given the immediate timing, I have a hard time believing that this is merely a coincidence. When confronted, Nav, the guy I had been dealing with, tried to distort my timeline claiming that the noise started after my trip (completely false btw), to avoid liability. He offered to cover only the basic installation labour, but refused to adjust the front toe-in/alignment required to make the car safe to drive - demanding me to pay yet ANOTHER $130 for alignment. I feel that they do not stand behind their workmanship, or take responsibility for my valid concerns, and instead expected me to pay to make the vehicle safe to drive again, even though it wasn't making any noises prior to the repair. Based on my experience, I would avoid this shop if you want peace of mind.

I was a customer a few years ago and right away I noticed the shop area is just as clean as it was back then. Spotless! The reception area is spacious and has comfortable furniture for waiting. The job was done and the total cost for changing over the old tires, mounting 2 new ones, high-speed balancing, and mounting on the car .... $50. Finally! Work done on the car quickly and well, without getting financially soaked. And very nice people.

Safety inspection:…read more Safety inspection: We took our used vehicle for an insurance inspection. The fee was reasonable to pay for finding them online. We knew we needed to do some work and it was expected buying an older vehicle. We do need it to be up to standard to feel safe and reliable. We got the report and over-priced estimate but we just assumed today rates are very expensive repairs to vehicles. We took the report at face value and paid a fee and we were not willing to put out 4000 for repairs of a 2009 Lancer. We then took it home and ordered parts and did repairs ourselves on weekends and evenings. We used the report given to make all the safety requirements listed that needed to be DONE according to the in inspection report Auto Imports provided. We then took the vehicle back to them after we did all the required replacements listed on their report and paid for a wheel alignment as well as it was also required on our list as another fee for safety inspection. We then were told a whole NEW list of repairs again pricing well over 3000. The repairs listed were NOT on the original repost. They came up with a Whole new list of repairs to be done. This is not a good way to do business. The same mechanic did both reports... I ask how it is possible and how it is fair to the average working person. We needed a smaller vehicle cheaper on gas for commuting to and from work. I do not understand this type of Shady business practice. No matter what you say... in defence it is never going to explain this type of business practises. You give a person a report of repairs .. a person using this list like a checklist to do repairs only to then make a NEW list of repairs. Either you need a new mechanic or like I say Shady business. Trying to take advantage of people in today's economy is horrible.

The contract clearly states "whichever comes first", meaning mileage or time.By May, our car reached 6,000 km, and we were already past the 6‑month mark. Well within Toyota's normal maintenance schedule. When we went in, Toyota WEM refused to do the oil change and told us to "come back at 12,000 km." My husband went back June, July, and August, and every single time he came home disappointed because they still refused to perform the oil change we were promised. Their explanation was always the same: "Your car is under warranty, don't worry if it breaks down." Now it's September, our RAV4 is at 14,200 km, and Toyota WEM still refuses to honour the lifetime oil change agreement. We even showed them the paper that says "whichever comes first," and they dismissed it.We considered getting the oil changed elsewhere, but Toyota WEM kept implying our warranty might be affected , which left us feeling stuck and misled. At this point, we regret buying from Toyota WEM. The service has been dismissive, unhelpful, and has caused months of frustration. A dealership should honor its commitments.

My dad was a mechanic and had not just his mechanic ticket, but every ticket that was possibly associated with it, including heavy duty. We just lost him, and I'm disappointed when businesses think they can take advantage of people. Anyone I know will not be using your business as we will be spreading the news of my mom's experience.
