Easily one of the most underrated places in San Angelo. 1. Pay attention to other reviews, most are from 2-5 years ago. Kind of hard to judge a place from outdated reviews. 2. The area it's located in is a little less desirable, but the inside is clean and inviting. Don't judge this book by its cover. 3. The bowling alley is MUCH better than the other one in town. We went on a Sunday afternoon, didn't have to wait for a lane, good selection of balls, and quick resolution of the one issue we had with pins resetting. 4. We didn't do laser tag or play arcade games, but both were available. The arcades appeared to be operated by a refillable card, not coins/bills. 5. They have general concessions, plus ice cream and alcohol. The popcorn is self serve, so you can use as much butter and salt your unhealthy heart desires! If you get nachos, you get to add your cheese and jalapeños, so again, as much as you want. 6. Drinks were self-serve. Overall, this is a pretty cool spot to spend an afternoon at, with or without kids. Customer service was great on the movie theater/concession side. If you typically visit the other movie theater and bowling alley in town, I encourage you to give Icon a try! I'm glad I did! read more

I got out of the ER two days ago with a kidney infection and strict orders from the doctor to drink plenty of water--I brought a bottle of the kind I can tolerate drinking with me (bought $30 worth of drinks and snacks in the theater too, so it's not like I just didn't buy anything) and the employees followed me around telling me I couldn't have it in the building. I said that I had it for medical reasons, but I was told that I could buy water and leave mine in the car. They tried to make me exchange my small icee for a bottle of cheap water. The waters here cost $5 and there's absolutely no way I was going to do that. I had to put my water back in the car, and come all the way back in while the employees huddled in a little group and stared at me. I can understand a no outside food or drink rule, but if I'm buying something and I need my own water for medical reasons, it's absolutely ridiculous to try to make me buy a smaller crappier one. I absolutely will not be coming back, and would recommend that anyone looking for a theatre go to cinemark instead. They have better quality facilities and MUCH better customer service. -10/10 wouldn't recommend going here. read more

Icon is a subpar theater. Sitting in the dark no movie no AC. I believe I have spent my last dollar here. It's apparent no one cares and it's us who suffer. They are always hiring so it's apparent no one wants to work here. Most likely due to bad management. The kids that are working are all in their phones, no one is watching the theater so now been sitting in the dark for 20 minutes and still no movie. It doesn't look like a lot from the outside, but the inside is as up to date as the theaters in the big city. They have those comfy electric FULL reclining seats, all you can eat popcorn, and all you can drink soda. They also have all you can drink beer and wine. OK, I'm kidding about that last one, but they do have beer and wine. ;-) They also have an arcade to kill time in before your movie. When I walked in, I couldn't figure out where to buy the movie tickets. It's kind of weird, there's no separate ticket counter. Instead, you buy them at the concession stand. There wasn't any signage to indicate this, so I had to ask. Several reviews ding them for customer service, but my interactions during the concession and ticket purchasing process was great. This place has some of the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I had been here 2 weeks in a row. The first week, they were busy but generally, I had no real issues. It was a bit chaotic with children running everywhere but nevertheless wasn't a bad time with myself and my group of about 15 as we all kind of did our own thing. Now, I went back the following week and had a horrible experience with multiple employees. I'm not sure what was going on but we stopped in for a friend's birthday and wanted to play some games, play laser tag and go bowling. We were told that we couldn't do laser tag until 2pm as they didn't have someone until that time to run the game. No biggie so we opted to play some arcade games and then around 1:15 decided to bowl. We played the first game and we're on our second when we saw the time inching closer to 2pm. We would have had to stop in the early frames of our game in order to play laser tag so I went over to the person working bowling and asked when the next laser tag game would be. She told me it would be another hour and we had planned to already leave by that time as we had other commitments. I asked if they could pause the game and then we could come back and finish it after laser tag and was told no. It was a little surprising as the prior week laser tag was every 15 minutes and only a week later it was every hour. Also, I asked the manager to pause the bowling so that we could play laser tag and he also said no. Now, I would understand if they were unbelievably busy with people waiting to bowl but it was only my party and one other lane bowling. We also had to stop by the desk at least 3/4 times during our game as the pins kept getting stuck or not resetting properly. We ultimately made the decision to stop bowling, all 10 of us because we mainly came to play laser tag for the birthday girl. So, we all lost out on money and never finished the game. We did get to play laser tag but when we went, it was on some weird teams setting. Every other time we've played, it was every player for themselves. That became confusing as the rules had changed but staff didn't explain the way to play. So not only did we feel it was a waste of money not finishing our bowling, but also jipped out on our laser tag as well. However: please take some pride in your theaters and the parking lot. Both were really really trashy -- as if nobody is cleaning either space. So many wrappers in the seat! Upon entering we were told by the young cashier that the movie we wanted to watch was an "action film so it was terrible and we should watch a scary movie instead".. after spending $18 at concessions we were told we couldn't bring in our own water bottle two steps before walking into the theater and we had to throw it away. I was intrigued to give this theater a try since recliner cinemas are all over Washington DC, where I'm from. Unfortunately, the day we went to see a movie at this theater in San Angelo, my seat was malfunctioning, and my boyfriends and my seat were sticky and gross. Although we loved the movie, we had a chatty couple to the right of us who talked the entire time, played on their phones, and had their phone volume on loud. Multiple people got up to complain to management who did absolutely nothing about it, even though before the movie they go through a 10 minute video about how any one who talks or uses their cell phones will be asked to leave without a refund. Disappointed. We come here pretty regularly and it has always been OK. Nothing amazing but the reclining seats are comfy and the movie selections good so we chose to come here even though the other cinema is much closer & more convenient to where we live. Had a less than pleasant experience today though. My husband and I came in for a matinee as we both had the day off and our little one was in daycare....so we were excited for some time to relax. We didn't get snacks as we had just had lunch, although I went and had a look to see what they had. I think I picked up one or two things to see what their calorie count was before deciding not to get anything & put them back (all in front of a concessions person as the stands are directly in front of them). Before the movie started a lady came in and from a seat or so away loudly asked what I had 'done' with the candy that she had seen me take on camera?? I stated that I had put it back and she gave me a disbelieving look and left. I was so embarrassed that it tainted the movie experience we had both been looking forward to. I get that theft happens but why wouldn't they make sure of something like that before coming and accusing you in front of the other movie goers? Was I even the person you intended to blame? Why not double check with the concessions person who had been right there? If they had a camera like they said they did then it would have taken just a few seconds for them to review the tapes and see that my hands were empty as we walked away from the concession area and into the screening room. Was that too much effort? Would speaking in a lower voice or with a kinder tone been so hard given that you clearly hadn't bothered to make sure of your claim. Better staff training is clearly needed at this location because that's not an acceptable way to treat your customers if you want to keep them coming back. read more

Very helpful staff as soon as you walk up. UNLIMITED popcorn and soda....yes, UNLIMITED!!! Just buy the size of popcorn or drink and you can get FREE refills anytime you want. SEATS are legit! I'm 6'3" and usually not ever comfortable in movie seats, but these are AWESOME! You can recline almost all the way back with additional neck adjusting(for tall or short people!) I've been here twice in one week and the customer service and facility is one of the better places here in town to take the family. Bowling is a must and the arcade is good for all ages. We went on Tuesday and pre-ordered our seats (which I highly suggest). The unlimited popcorn and drink saves tons of money. If you go bring a blanket because it seems to get cold (which is way better than being hot lol). If it's your first time I'd go on a Monday or Tuesday just bc that is when they are less busy and pre-order your tickets to insure you will have good seats. The only good thing here is the leg room. The theatre doesn't have enough of an incline so you sit really far from the screen. Additionally, if you have anyone with a head in front of you, good luck seeing over their head. We have been here 3 times and 2/3 of the time the projector was slightly out of focus. I love love love Icon Cinema. Free refills, reclining and vibrating chairs, dip n dots! But last night...after paying $62 for tickets and snacks, we sat through IT dodging a bat. A real life, disease-ridden BAT! I left the movie to go to the front and let them know, because my daughter and her friend were terrified and screaming, but not at the horror movie. The gal at the front started laughing and turned to her coworkers and starting saying "code batman" over and over. I went back to the theater just to find that no staff followed and the bat was still flying around. I went back to the front yet again and told several employees (who were very apologetic) but the manager seemed lost and confused stating he didn't want to disrupt the movie or swing a net at someone's head... Super disappointed at our experience because we love it here. But not enough to share my popcorn with bats. read more

So we live fairly close to "Icon Cinema" theater and we choose to give them our business for convenience, endless popcorn, and reclined seats. But, as of last night we will no longer be coming back to this establishment at all. First, as my family and I, walked up to the ticket process lady (rudely tone and demeanor) to enter our movie, she stated that she could not accept our tickets we purchased online thru our cell phone device. That we had to go back up to the front counter to receive paper tickets. Which was never stated on their online service ticket website. The reason being because folks in the past have ruined that opportunity of convenience to use that service on your device. Second, she stated that we were not aloud to bring in our previously bought popcorn tins (purchased tins for $10.00 bucks) due to one time use only, she stated that we needed to either take them outside or throw them away in her rudely tone of voice in front of other customers. Which was never stated to us that we could not reuse our popcorn tins of endless popcorn as they so advertise. They could even charge a small fee for refills on their special tin cans if you think about it. Third, I decided to let the manager know the situation and he proceeded to say that it was new policy and his hands were tied. That I could speak with the GM who he him self would not even accommodate to the situation but basically give back partial of our funds due to a third party who charges for the online tickets. Overall, the situation could have been handled more appropriately but as stated earlier my family and I will no longer return due to rude employees, "lack of new policy changes" notifications to all customers and customer service. We choose "Quality not quantity" any day. We decided to try the "old theater" and was pleased with overall customer service and the new heated reclined seats and quality of screen. It has improved tremendously and my family and I, were satisfied completely with watching the movie at the old theater in town. read more

I've had some issues with this theatre in the past but today was kind of the last straw and I wanted to write a review to warn others. Icon Cinemas is responsible for some of the worst customer service I have ever received. It's a little inconvenient that they don't sell tickets through a third party ticket vendor but I understand that Icon is a smaller chain, so I have never had an issue with just buying from them directly. Today, however, I attempted to purchase tickets on their website and a system glitch occurred that resulted in not receiving an email with my ticket information but my bank account still being charged by Icon. I figured that since my bank statement clearly says that Icon took my money but I didn't receive my e-tickets, I'd just call and sort it out. The person I spoke with told me that it was indeed an error and he didn't have a record of my purchase, then when I explained that my account was charged, the employee said that the money would "probably go back into my account in 3-5 business days" and I could just "buy them again." So I'm out the cost of these tickets for "probably 3-5 business days," I have no guarantee that the money will even go back at all because I've never encountered such an issue, and this employee doesn't apologize for their system error, doesn't offer me any guarantee of the process, doesn't offer to put anything in writing, doesn't even offer something small like a complimentary beverage for my troubles. Icon Cinemas thinks it's fine business practice to steal from a single parent trying to take her kids to a movie on her son's birthday. Even if you're only stealing temporarily, it's still stealing, it's still money Icon took without giving me anything in return, and I think it's pretty bold to ask me to spend more money at their establishment without so much as an apology or a promise that the situation will be made right. Icon Cinemas is one of two theatres in San Angelo, but just because you have a monopoly on the movie entertainment industry in a town doesn't mean you can rob from your patrons and brush it off like it's no big deal. An apology goes a really long way. I'm so disappointed with this company and their poor business practices. Because someone vandalized the screen we were told our movie would be in a different theater. Instead of just transferring our seats as purchased we had to buy new tickets in a smaller theater in a worse place then stand in a long line and get a refund. Not a great way to handle it. The whole reason I came here was for reclining seats but now I'm in a tiny theater with worse seats and still paid the same price. On top of it all, management was more defensive than helpful. If we hadn't brought my mom here on Mother's Day we would've just gotten a refund and left. We won't return. read more

I had never heard of this movie theatre before and was a bit hesitant as it is in somewhat of a bad part of town. Me and a group of friends went here to see a movie and we sat in the back. The audio was so loud it was vibrating our seats and we couldnt actually understand any of the first 20 minutes of the movie. We went and had to beg for our seat to be changed and we ended up sitting in the second or third row to the front. It was all together a horrible experience and I will definitely not visit this movie theatre again. read more

The theater has a couple of different seating arrangements depending on which theater your movie is in will determine what seats you have. They have VIP, Vibrating, and Reclining. So far it has looked like the VIP and Reclining are in one type and the Vibrating are in another type. The Staff is always helpful. They go out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The seating is much more comfortable than the other theater in town. Over there you pretty much have to sit in each other's lap, where here the chairs are wide and has room for people to spread out. The all you can drink refills and free refills on popcorn is great! They actually have ice tea available unlike the other theater. The quality of the movie is shown better here. I think it is due to newer equipment. I did notice another reviewer posted about their chairs vibrating, that is probably the vibrating chairs, which some may not like. The reserve your seat online is a great step so that you do not have to stand in long lines early to get a good seat. We go to movies probably three times a month and between the two theaters this one is the better one. We have noticed that the other theater is starting to come up with new seats and a new way to buy snacks. Which could be said is modeled after this theater since it had that version here first. read more

I loved the seats! Reclining and far apart! So comfortable way better then the other theater where you feel like someone is sitting on top of you! This theater is always so clean! I love the all you can eat popcorn and drink. As far as being on the bad side of town. I have never felt unsafe at this theater and I think it's wonderful they went to a side of town that no one wants to put anything nice out. This used to be our go to theater. But yesterday the lobby and actual theater were so dirty I doubt I will return. Popcorn was everywhere and the drink station was gross/sticky. The lobby and halls smelled like the restroom and not in a good way. Our seats also appeared to have the same sticky on them as well. Popcorn was everywhere in the theater as well. The ten wet floor signs could have been picked up prior to letting us into the theater as they posed a tripping hazard. Additionally, the screen was so dark we could barely see the film. I'm giving this theater 2 stars because the whole cinema just looks and feel outdated. And the quality of their food and snacks are just horrible. I don't care how unlimited their popcorn is, I'd rather pay for a fresh batch every time I wanted a refill. And the audacity to serve me burnt, hard rock, oily.. And I mean dripping in oil, pretzel bites... I just didn't have a good cinema experience here. However, the actual seats are great. read more
