Part of the "compound" are little art shops, the rooms at the Inn are artfully decorated. We stayed in the Santa Fe room and loved it! Comfy bed, nice bathroom, outside sitting area in front and back of the room . There is a well stocked kitchen area open for a late night snack or a bite in the morning to start the day! The music shows are outside and their is free food before the show, that's something you don't get elsewhere! I can't say enough about this place. We will be back!

I said that I had it for medical reasons, but I was told that I could buy water and leave mine in the car. They tried to make me exchange my small icee for a bottle of cheap water. The waters here cost $5 and there's absolutely no way I was going to do that. I had to put my water back in the car, and come all the way back in while the employees huddled in a little group and stared at me. I can understand a no outside food or drink rule, but if I'm buying something and I need my own water for medical reasons, it's absolutely ridiculous to try to make me buy a smaller crappier one. I absolutely will not be coming back, and would recommend that anyone looking for a theatre go to cinemark instead. They have better quality facilities and MUCH better customer service. -10/10 wouldn't recommend going here.

This is one Amazing Tour of what took place 'yesteryear' for 50 years of operating and is a must stop for anyone to attend. They also give you a 'wooden token' that is redeemable for one-dollar-in-trade for Girls, Whiskey or Tobacco - they just don't tell you where (I asked - hey, I was just curious). There is also a "Miss Hatties Cafe & Saloon" just a couple doors down from the Bordello. We ate there a few times and enjoyed the experience with a decor of 'yesteryear' - and they will also point out where the tunnel was from the Bordello that came up where the restaurant is now. The 'Museum' is a magnificent tour, all on the Second Floor via lots of stair-steps - and in original condition.

Fort Concho is one of several preserved U.S. cavalry forts established in the 19th century designed to protect the west Texas frontier. This one was established in 1867, and the Fort Concho Foundation has done a good job preserving the remaining buildings. One of the Buffalo Soldier regiments was stationed here, but there's not a whole lot of info posted about their stay here. According to the Fort Concho web site, they have a guided tour Wednesday through Sunday. I visited on a Wednesday but was only informed of the self-guided tour ($3 per person). The self guided tour begins with the officers' quarters and is a bit disappointing. The buildings are wonderfully preserved but there's just not a lot to see or even read about. When I got to the enlisted side of the fort, there was a lot more info, history, and things to see. Park across the street for free in the farmer's market parking lot on South Oakes Street. Make sure you stop by the mule barn behind the enlisted barracks. It's not a historic building, but you can check our four or five mules if you like. Pro Tip: One of the buildings on the officers' side of the fort has an antique telephone museum located within. It has nothing to do with the fort, but it's still fun to checkout.
