I'm a huge fan of sushi. Idk what it is, but very few sushi restaurants compare to Ichiban. While they have hibachi style dishes as well, I only go here for their sushi. Prices are hard to beat. First off the hostess/cashier got my order wrong & had a bad attitude then she proceeds to open my stapled bag, then my container of food grabs a fork and scoops out onto a plate the portion of food I didn't order then slides my remaining container of food behind the glass to the kitchen staff.... I then asked for the kitchen staff to just remake it and she gets mad and rolls her eyes saying what's the problem I didn't use my hands I used a fork. I was like just cancel the order... so much cross contamination not to mention Covid. Just gross!!! read more

My husband and I are originally from the West Coast and have had amazingly fresh sushi near the beach. After we moved here, we were afraid that we wouldn't find delicious sushi in a small town. I have been there a few times and the sushi is always fresh. The dine-in service is friendly and they get the food out quickly (which is a necessity during a lunch break). To-go orders have always been ready when I get there, even if I am early. It is a good value for the money. I am not sure about their regular menu items since I have never ordered them, but they always look and smell delicious too. read more

I went here Oct 19 2019. We got there and had a short wait. We then got our seat. While sitting there about 20 minutes 3 different servers walked by us and never acknowledged us. Give this one a pass. Not so very good. If you want lack-luster, over salted yet under flavored food-- great! You found it! Goodlettsville hibachi is much more flavorful. Although to be fair, I did not try the sushi. I had the steak and scallops. The rice was oily, over salted and bland. The scallops were fresh and properly cooked but covered in the horrible sauce that covered everything, the steak was tough. I got 1/5 of a zucchini, 3 broccoli florets and and a small amount of frozen carrots. The waiter was pretty obtuse. Timing man. Appetizers and soup and salad right on top of each other. The main just moments after. To the diner it feels like the bums rush out the door. Well on the bright side, lots of covers that way. read more

Wow, always going to rivergate for Japanese and sushi. This takes the cake, good service and very accommodating. The food was perfect, they even make spicy rice, my favorite! Many rolls to choose from and Sashimi (sp?) A dead give away of a clean restaurant, the bathroom was NOT scary! I've been to this place 3 times in the last 2 months and my husband and I love it!!! First off, service is great! I feel like everyone is welcoming and consistent with checking on guests often, but not too often. The wait for food has never been long, portion sizes are great, and sushi always tastes fresh! I love that I can take my two toddlers here and not wait forever for food! Even better, the setting of the restaurant is sophisticated but not fancy, and family friendly at the same time-- one of the cleanest locally owned restaurants I've been to in awhile! As someone who has lived most of their life in the west coast, I was skeptical of trying Asian cuisine here in Tennessee, but I have yet to be disappointed!! read more

The worst Japanese steak house I've every been to. Shrimp had a chemical taste, the chicken tasted like it was boiled and then heated up. Rice and soup had no flavor. My waitress told me that she wouldn't even eat here because how they cook food. Talk to the manager and he told me nothing can be done, that they never had a complaint, that it was all me because everyone else ate the food. My dog wouldn't even eat the left overs. I was blown away completely by this place. Never knew that I had a Japanese steakhouse this good in Springfield. My wife and I went there the other night for the first time she ordered the Filet Mignon and vegetables. The Filet was cooked perfectly. I ordered two sushi rolls, the surf and turf roll and the Ichiban roll. Both of them were very good and I have no complaints about either. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone coming into Springfield looking for a good Japanese. We will be going back soon. read more

Love this place. The sushi always tastes fresh and of good quality. I love the Ichiban roll, among others. Their tomato avocado salad is also great. I think it is just as good, if not better, than many sushi places in Nashville. Beware if you go at lunch time-it can get very crowded and service can sometimes be slow. I'm not a sushi expert, but their yum yum roll is the best I've ever had. Their hibachi isn't my favorite, especially compared to the places where they cook it in front of you. Edamame is good, and you can eat pretty cheap here, but (be careful) they also have some pretty expensive rolls that might surprise you. Good place to bring families. Service is hit or miss, but I've had more good experiences than bad. They're always nice to my kids! read more

Food is good, but we had the worst service tonight, I asked the waitress what was in 3 to 4 different rolls, she said she didn't know, and she didn't bother asking anyone. We told her we weren't ready yet. So she leaves and comes back later. I asked did you find out what was in the Boston roll, "No mama I didn't," and just stood there, as we all stare at her, she says oh maybe it's on the togo menu. It was but the others were not. My extended family met here for Dinner on Christmas Eve 2016 with a party of 19. Our server, Mindy, was perfect. She set up the tables just the way we wanted them, she was well versed on the menu components and made excellent recommendations, she was attentive to scoop up finished plates and refill drinks at just the right time without being one of those annoying, overbearing servers. She was also charming to me and my wife and 8 year old son, and she made our experience wonderful. The quality and portions of the food at this restaurant are outstanding and downright unbelievable for the price. The speed of the preparation was also impressive, remember it was a party of 19. They lined up all our plates along the bar and filled them at the same time. The food was delivered quickly, it was piping hot, and it was delicious! A class act all around. We will definitely return, especially if we have a large party on a special occasion. No horror stories here, folks, you will walk away from here happy if you can walk at all! Thanks again, Mindy, for beating Santa to the punch and delivering our Yummy Christmas! It took me a long time to try sushi, I was in my late 30s and over the next couple of years I have tried several different kinds and finally decided of my favorite.
