I was convinced that my child was best taught sensei Sarah who is also the owner. At first, my entire family felt welcomed and felt like we found a home. Unfortunately, Sarah and multiple members of her staff turned out to be very unprofessional, rude, and just downright mean. They seem to focus more on drama amongst the parents than they do educating the children. Sarah spread vicious lies about my child and her mental health to multiple other families and her staff. The staff begging to ignore my child and refusing to allow my child to participate fully with the other children in her class. She began to ignore my child and my family while still taking our money for the classes. My child's stepmother worked for free for this facility... Was never compensated... My child's father was a teacher and he had to step down due to the constant negativity and rumors being spread about a 10 yr old child. She is so negative she even tried to convince multiple people and her dojo To spread vicious, rumors and lies about her ass husband dojo so she could take his business! I would not recommend this dojo to anyone. Especially for a child!

Some of the instructors have trained in Okinawa, and have a deep respect for the culture and the art of Shuri-Ryu karate. At the same time, they are extremely approachable and down to earth. They're some of the kindest and most patient people I've met, and they care deeply about their students. They will meet you at whatever level you're at, whether you're young, old, fit, or out of shape (even if maybe you've never formally exercised your whole adult life...). They will push you to improve, but they are mindful of your limits. I've always felt challenged, but never singled out or left behind. I recommend them regardless of your age or experience level.

I highly recommend KSKD for its great instructors, fun environment, the skill level you can achieve if you put in the effort, and the price. I was actually quite surprised at how inexpensive KSKD is compared to other martial arts schools in Louisville. And they don't make you sign a contract; it's just month-to-month with three price levels, depending on how many days per week you want to go to class. The head sensei is very knowledgeable and has been practicing martial arts (karate and taekwondo) for 50 years!
