How many organizations have you attended you felt, from the first time you entered, you would be…read morethere for the long run? If you have watched any martial art style movies, do the adversaries suffer the most? You are welcome to number all the various punches by name. An instructor explained to me; "A punch, is a punch, is a punch, no mater what name you give it." This person was and is Dan Insonto. His daughter was being pushed around in a baby carriage, at the time. She probably 33 years old by now. I would tell anyone I feel Aikido is passive/aggressive. You all understand inertia. A body in motion, shall remain in motion, until acted upon by an outside source. Aikido, to me, isn't aggressive until that object (a person) begins to strike. Aikido uses the forward momentum of your aggressor as an advantage, keeping the aggressor in motion, as a directed advantage, like crashing a plane. Should an aggressor come soft, that person will be stopped softer. However, coming full strength will result in the aggressor saying; "Father forgive me, for I have sinned in my thoughts, my words, and what I failed to do." The body of this organization is made up of professional people, from various well groomed industries. Saying this is to explain anyone willing to learn, will have the very best group of trained professionals found anywhere. If you are 8 yrs old, you will be taught. If you're of an "old school," willing to learn, you will be taught, not judged. However, No One begins, without being stretched out in more places than flees on a hunting dog! Do your homework. Come with an open mind, observe, speak with everyone having positive open mind the way the young mighty mights show up, with respect. Give your best and you will get the best!

The class instructors (we've had two different ones) seem to understand the age & levels of accomplishment of each child - this is the most important part of the class. My kiddo comes home all smiles and enjoys returning each week for classes. Annual membership is $35 & pays for whole family. I cannot say that the class prices are a "bargain," but with the instructors that are available, I think we paid a good price for what we get. The only upgrades I'd suggest is a viewing area for all activities (there is one part of gym that I'm unable to see) and a little dusting action upstairs...seems to be some dust bunnies growing on the ceiling decorations.

What I can review, however, is how incredible Master Strickland is with the kids. He genuinely cares about them. He talks with all of them, knows them all by name, encourages them to be better people. He's just amazing with the kids. My son loves going here because he loves what he's learning and he loves Master Strickland. I love taking my son here because I know he's being taught by someone who cares about him. All in all, it's a great place.

My two rambunctious boys have improved in their ability to follow directions as well as their understanding that they won't always win or be the best but to keep at it. I'm so glad I bit the bullet and gave it a try. If you're curious but not sure if you or your child will like it, they offer the opportunity to try a class for free without any commitment. So you don't have to sign up, or put down a credit card. They offer monthly payments or you can pay in a lump sum for six months and get a great discount. The classes are unlimited, so you can go as much or little as you desire. Grasshoppers have three 30 minute classes each week (because at that age they don't have the attention span for much more). Remember that this is for kids and adults of all ages and all body types. This places operates like a family and that really makes a difference in helping the students feel comfortable.
