a bowl of soup

I really like their egg drop soup. Has some veggies and potatoes instead of just egg. 3$ small, 5$ large. Tofu was good fried tofu with teriyaki sauce on top. Would be nice to have a side veggie instead of just salad. Still, overall, good place.

Hot and Spicy Chicken and Veggies

Friendly, sweet service! The woman at the counter was extremely kind and gave me my order as soon as I walked in to pick it up! Clean, fresh tasting veggies!

I don't know why this place doesn't have 5 stars on Yelp. I love the hot chicken, it's awesome. Comes on a HUGE plate with rice, veggies...I can never finish it all, which is great because I have delicious lunch leftovers. Friendly staff. Nice, clean place. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Gyoza went down easy

I've had worse, but I've also had better. Ichi Teriyaki 17 is a lackluster version of Ichi Teriyaki 23. The gyoza is typical as well as the teriyaki chicken, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The egg flower soup is an odd mix of mushy cabbage, potato, egg and carrots. Unlike Ichi 23, at Ichi 17 you don't get the open of macaroni salad or regular salad and you have to pay an extra $2.50 to switch to fried rice, which is free at Ichi 23. Speaking of their fried rice, it's a low class "fried rice" with a hint of egg here and there, and what seems to be a bag of mixed frozen veggies mixed in with it. My advice, skip Ichi 17 and head straight to Ichi 23, that's where I'll be from now on.

Best pork fried rice in BG! Katsu sauce is a little off (not as tangy as I would have liked) but a wonderful dinner still!

Literally like a frozen TV dinner warmed up. The chicken was like what you get in a lean cuisine for 1.00 at the grocery store.

I've been trying sushi within the area and this is my favorite restaurant so far. As soon as we stepped in around 4pm on a Saturday, we were greeted and seated right away. We only ordered sushi, but they have many other options for those not a fan of sushi. Honestly, I'm use to waiting for sushi to be made when a restaurant has multiple types of food on the menu, but we got our sushi made around 5 minutes. And everything was so fresh!! Amazed by the time and super happy with the food lol The service is great. Each person that stopped by our table were super nice and efficient. I would say we got seated, ordered, received our food, ate and checked out under 25 minutes. My partner and I love dining in restaurants, but we also love when we can be in and out. This isn't very common in non-conveyor belt restaurants. The restaurant itself is Japanese themed and feels authentic. It's a smaller restaurant but they have a covered patio to seat more guests. Overall, I was super impressed and can see why their ratings are so high. I hope to be back soon.

There was only one patron there who was just about to leave. She was having a conversation with the owner who is a nice Asian man. I got the large egg flour soup and the teriyaki chicken yakisoba noodles to do. $22.00 total. I got home and the food looked delicious. As I got into scarfing down the noodles I notice a stale taste and it was the chicken. It's like they had a piece of chicken already cooked from days ago, there it on the grill or microwave to warm it up, cut it up and put it on top of the noodles. I did like the broccoli and cabbage they put in the yakisoba noodles but the sliced carrots seem to be stale too. I tried the egg drop soup and it had a funky taste like a fishy flavor to it. Maybe it was a bad day or maybe this is how they serve their food thete. Not too sure if this would be my first choice for lunch or not.

Small little joint about nine tables total and none were full on this day. A lot of take-out orders so that is probably all that is needed. I got the sesame chicken which had wayyy too much salt in it I had been wanting to drink more water but on this way. Haha. The veggie wraps were great, I would definitely order those again. I would probably drop back by here again and order something else as it was a well-loved place.

The Godzilla roll definitely lives up to its name, it's huge. I'm not usually someone who prefers fried sushi, but this one was actually pretty good: crispy on the outside, flavorful, and filling enough to share. I was also pleasantly surprised by the mango roll. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but the sweetness worked really well and made it feel lighter and more refreshing than I anticipated. The White Tiger roll was another favorite! yummy, well-balanced, and easy to enjoy. One small thing I wish they did differently is I would love to see separate servings of ginger for each roll. Sometimes when you order multiple rolls, the ginger gets squished into one tiny container and split between three rolls, which isn't ideal if you like to cleanse your palate between bites. Also wish they had more raw options than just crab options. Overall, the sushi is good, portions are generous, and it's a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal. A solid option if you're in Vancouver and in the mood for a quick bite of sushi.

Hokkaido Sushi is a solid little sushi spot in central Vancouver…read more Cold February night, we decided we needed some sushi. The downtown places can be hit-or-miss so we thought we'd try something new. We stumbled upon Hokkaido on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Greeted immediately, friendly staff, nice ambiance, no complaints there. 4-stars simply comes from the lack of a bar. Good sushi deserves a good martini. That part was super disappointing for me. The Tempura Veggies, Tempura Shrimp, and Sushi was all lovely. Freshly cooked / prepared and served promptly. Price was on-point and the overall experience was great. We'd be regulars if they had a full bar. If you live nearby and can tolerate dinner without a martini, give Hokkaido a try - it's worth it!

I then went next and did some quick shopping... and picked up the soup when I was done. It was waiting for me even though I was not gone long. Got home, put everything in a bowl... and tried to make it pretty! Chashu pork portion was small, but it tasted fine. The three shrimp included were yummy and large. The soft eggs were ok, as were the bean sprouts and herbs. The broth was sort of like a cross between Tom Kha and Tom Yum.... tasty though. Looks can be deceiving but they were perfectly cooked, filled with meat and the sauce they came in was savory and sweet. The pineapple fried rice was lacking in a bit of seasoning/flavor. Texturally it was very good, cooked well. Adding in some sambal helped. The kahri noodles were very good, reminded me of drunken noodles. It states it's spicy, but there wasn't much, even with asking for extra spice. Overall I would definitely try again, but it wasn't spectacular.
