Throughout the process Jared was accommodating and generous with his insights. The price point was incredibly competitive - jacket, pants, goggles and gloves for $40. I believe a helmet could have been included, but the ski park included a helmet in their equipment package. I would recommend Mountain Threads without hesitation.

I went in because I am visiting here for a few days and I was looking for the hats that say Stay Golden. A perfect souvenir from here plus a nod to the Outsiders, "Stay Gold." For many of us climbers, we used to have similar shops from yesteryear, Holubar, Frostline, Boulder Mountaineer, the 'old school' REI and the vintage Neptune Mountaineering, these shops had high quality gear that lasted the test of time and wear. Nowadays, fashion rather than function seems to be the selection at 'outdoor' shops. Ok... there's Bent Gate that still carries higher quality gear for folks who like to 'get at it'. Sure, you get what you pay for but the stuff does what it's supposed to do albeit at a price point a little higher than average. However, if you ever needed gear that will not fail, buy the better stuff for in the long run, you'll not only come out ahead but it might save your life. Bent Gate is such a company that strives for selling better gear... period!

Derek didn't have to reach out, nor did he have to offer help, but it's evident in his actions that he cares about his company from the top down, and that's a quality I think is very valuable. I'll also add that Kurt, the store manager, was poised during the dilemma, never passing the buck on the inventory error. The employee allowed me to try it on with multiple sizes and determined the best fit was the large. Then it got tricky. Walking to the front register an employee stopped and told me that the hoodie wasn't actually for sale because it had been sold yesterday and somehow didn't end up in the bag of the person who bought it. But yet, it was still hanging up, with price tag and all, in the middle of a rack. He told me it wasn't available at any other location so it basically didn't exist. He couldn't explain how or why it was still on the sales floor, apologized for the mistake, but did not extend any other concessions for the store's error besides saying "it was a crazy day yesterday, and the person who bought it is coming to get it". I don't live in Denver so I cannot return when it is restocked. Call it sincerely bad timing, but regardless, this was the first time I've picked something off a rack and then been told that what I have in my hand doesn't exist and I have to give it back. Hope it doesn't happen to the next customer.

It was an incredible time finding all these adorable 4th of July merchandise. I love shopping for deals and Marshalls never fails. The only negative thing I can say about this retailer is that they have a horrible layaway policy, but it could possibly be just those particular stores I've visited with a lack of space so you can barely utilize their layaway option. Some cool facts are: Marshalls has over 1,000 American stores, including larger stores named Marshalls Mega Store, covering 42 states and Puerto Rico, and 61 stores in Canada. Marshalls first expanded into Canada in March 2011.
