It's a decent rink, clean with the necessary amenities. The thing it's got going for it is that it's one of the only indoor rinks on the peninsula. However, because it's the only rink around for miles, it's booked up with lessons, freestyle skate time, hockey games and private events. Public skate times are rare and usually during working hours. For those on hockey teams, the schedule can be all over the place because ice time is at a premium. The price for public skate is also the most expensive one in the Bay Area if you have your own skates. As of 2024, its $20. For reference, Yerba Buena in SF is $14 for GA and Sharks Ice in Fremont and San Jose are $16, Snoopy's Home Ice in Santa Rosa is $8-$14 depending on the day of week, and Oakland Ice is $16 with an additional 10% off for Oakland residents. In addition, the other rinks have passes for frequent skaters that drops the price more. Now if you factor in the cost of skate rentals, then San Mateo is in line with most places but Ice Oasis doesn't give a price break for not renting skates. That being said, because I live in San Mateo, this is my best option for now and I don't want them to close. I just wish their economics and schedule could more closely mimic the other rinks. read more

Located in foster city at bridge point shopping area, corner near Petco. Indoor ice skating rink open year round. It's a bit run down inside. Not well kept up in appearance. No food stands besides vending machines. Metal lockers available to store your purse but locks Don't work and lose coins trying to get key out. BUT ICE RINk was perfect & that's what we came for. We went on a weekday since was spring break at 230pm and was not busy. A handful of ice skating trainers and their students were already on the rink. They have posted ice skating times. We bought tickets at the front desk. $20 each person which includes skates. read more

signed my 3 year old up for group ice-skating lessons, and we are so pleased with the experience so far! The teachers are very kind and supportive. I was nervous at first to send my daughter with zero skating experience on the ice, but she was met with such qualified and gracious instructors that made her feel really supported! she is thriving and I'm really glad I signed her up here. The only downfall is that the ice rink lobby area is not well kept. It could be that it was impacted from the pandemic, which I understand, but hopefully, as the economy picks back up management will be able to invest more in the cleanliness and organization of the lockers, food options, cleanliness, party area and overall appearance of the lobby to make it more appealing to visitors and improve the quality of the experience here. read more

They need to fix this joint up. One of the most janky rinks I've been to. The whole guest area (bathrooms, water fountain, party room, benches) looks like a neglected storage warehouse. They let the ice get bad, like too f'd up before sending out the Zamboni. That combined with blunt skates makes for a horrible time. Go to Oakland folks. read more

One of the best rinks in the universe. :-) My son has played here with the Black Stars. Soild, solid foundation to his hockey playing. (Two years ago, he was #2 in scoring for all of NorCal at his level. The roots of his growth come from the Black Stars.) Me, I've been playing in the adult rec league of RWC and here for too many years. I simply can't describe in words what a joy it is to play in the club league here that is unique to the rest of the Bay Area. Because the rosters change every season, over time you get to know and play with everyone. So after a while, you're playing against and with friends. The regular season is a lot more laid back and fun than in other leagues I've played in. But don't get me wrong, the playoffs are still the playoffs. People want to win. And now we're playing again after all this covid nonsense, and I'm working to get rid of the extra 5 or 10 or 15 lbs I've gained ;-), but I'm having a ball playing again. What the dumb politicians don't get, is that an activity like hockey for a lot of us, isn't just for physical health (and fun!), but also for our mental health too. This is a review for the skating lessons at Ice Oasis.y -0 year old son has autism and has been wanting to learn to skate so he can eventually play hockey. I can't say enough positive things about Kim and her amazing staff. From the first lesson, she made sure that an aide was skating with my son at all times, even though it was a group class. In the four weeks that he has been attending the beginner class, he has gone from holding on to the wall for dear life, to skate walking out in the middle of the rink. Raven has worked with him the past three weeks and her patience and kindness have been amazing. We are SO fortunate to have found this gem of a school. read more

Ahh... the memories. My daughter and I used to take lessons before they re-opened back in the day. It basically looks almost the same. We skated during their 10 am - 12 pm morning session. We were the only ones on the ice, so can't complain about the crowds. The prices are pretty high, for me the price isn't worth the amount of fun we got out of it. read more

Love this place! We come here fairly frequently and have never had a bad experience. Friendly staff, nice rink, reasonable prices.

First off I'm so glad that the public ice skating rink at Bridgepoint is back. The rink was closed for a long time, and everybody in the nearby community was so sad. In fact you can still see a few "Save Our Rink" signs stuck in the barricades. But now it's open again under a new name - Nazareth Ice Oasis San Mateo Rink! Admission is currently $15 for adults and an additional $5 to rent dull ice skates - hockey or figure skates, and no half-sizes. Wait, what? $20 for 2 hours of public skating? Whoa - for $16, you can skate with rental at Winter Lodge in Palo Alto, which is so much nicer in terms of atmosphere. So if you were expecting something like $10 admission like before to skate here at a large hockey-sized rink - expect to pay much more. I could understand if the rink was completely revamped, but nothing has changed in terms of the rink itself - it's still the same. All the lockers in the back are gone and removed to make room for a private party room and vending machines. Since you end up leaving your shoes beneath the benches or chairs - make sure to bring old ratty sneakers, and not your nice expensive shoes. There are 2 staff members here - one cashier in the front who doubles as the Zamboni driver, and one skate shoe staff. They operate on bare bone minimum staffing, which doesn't match the pricing. Lots of hockey pucks stuck between the barricades and the walls, but they don't clean it up. The red lights are still strung up halfhazardly around the rink. The doors on the side bench/boxes show their wear. The website is a mess and difficult to navigate or find anything. Check the Public Skating Schedule to ensure you are coming at a time when it is open to the public. We came here on Black Friday 2017 public skate session from 6:45pm-8:45pm as a group. The ice rink is hockey sized and so there's a lot of room to practice and skate around. After two hours the ice definitely is carved up, and the Zamboni comes out. If you do not leave immediately when the Zamboni comes out, the driver will honk at you until you leave the rink. Watch as the Zamboni mesmerizingly smooths out the ice again, and a hockey game begins. Is it the same rink? Yes. But at the price charged, I think I'll go to Palo Alto instead. Nostalgia demands I rate this 3 stars because it is an ice rink that functions perfectly okay, but it needs improvements to warrant the increase in prices. read more

I'm a beginning adult skater who recently started taking Saturday classes at this rink. The instructors have been great and the class sizes seem to be small enough to give us personal time with our instructor. I've even had some instructors recognize me and give me quick, helpful tips when I've gone to practice during the public skate sessions. The staff are laid back, but friendly and helpful as long as you're patient. I've seen more bad behavior from demanding and unreasonable parents than I have from anyone on the staff. The facility is a bit run down, but not unreasonably so. I'd rather they spend upkeep money on the ice than the waiting areas. I've only visited a few other rinks in the area, but the ice quality here seems to be the best of any of the places I've visited. It can get a bit crowded at times, but I've also had days where I was one of the only people there during a public session. My only complaint, as such, is that I wish they would post and keep an eye on basic ice etiquette. Most of the patrons are just fine, but every once in a while you get the cluster of pre-teens just hanging out in one place, or the hockey kids weaving through other skaters at top speeds. And that one parent who is constantly standing at the entry/exit to watch their kid, blocking everyone trying to get on or off the ice. Urgh. Overall, this is my favorite place to skate on the peninsula and I recommend it for anyone interested in a fun day or a new hobby. read more

I moved to the Bay Area just after the rink had closed so I never experienced what it was like under the old management. That said, I absolutely love coming to skate here on the weekends. The staff, while small, has been nothing but helpful and kind. We enrolled our son for some classes and despite the chaos on the first day, everything has been smoothed out and is very well organized (kudos to Jackie at the sign in table). We have been very happy with the instructors and their ability to somehow pay attention to my kid in a sea of classes. Every class has had one or more younger assistant teachers who help provide one-on-one time, as well as help with my kid who has fallen a couple times. The facility has been very clean and when there was a mess with the water bottle station, there was someone there to clean it. There are newly installed vending machines which helps with snacks for the kids and plenty of space to sit and put your skates on. Again, I'm so excited to see the rink open and so happy to be a part of the hundreds of people there on the weekend. If you live in the area, you have to come check it out. I must say some of these reviews seem so untrue. Since the rink has been open this past October it has been an amazing experience for my family . The coaches for my sons hockey league are amazing !!!! The teachers for figure skating especially Kim are so professional and determined to work hard with their students to have them master ice skating and love it through fun. The party rooms are adorable - the rink is so clean and fresh with a happy feeling you get right when you walk in. Everybody is so kind and helpful and I think having this rink now open in San Mateo is a treasure to our community and children . My sons bday was at the rink and all of the staff was so attentive and wonderful with all the children on and off the ice. Our community needs more establishments that welcome the entire community of all ages to have a place to go and have role models of instructors to look up to. read more

Long story short: If you want your young child to learn how to ice skate, this is definitely not the place for that. Long story long: My daughter was very excited to learn to ice skate, so I signed her up for skating lessons. She went to her first lesson here last weekend, which was awful! We arrived fifteen minutes early as requested only to wait in a very chaotic, disorganized line, and they didn't even have the right size skates for her (which happened to many people, probably because they had way too many people attending way too many lessons going on at the same time). When I got up to the check-in table they didn't have some card I was supposed to pick up so that she could come and practice during the week, and I wasn't the only one being told that they could find their card and to come back at the end of the lesson. (After the lesson was just as chaotic with the next large group coming in, so we didn't even stay to get the card). My 5.5 year old daughter was in the beginning tot class, which had way too many kids enrolled. Something like 30-40 kids with 4 adult teachers. It took close to 10 minutes of the 30 minute class just to get the kids on the wall of the ice rink. Then they tried to get them to all sit on the ice to get used to the fact that they will fall on the cold, wet ice. My daughter was the only one still standing holding the rail when everyone else was on the ground and no one came over to help. When they finally figured out to split the extremely large group up, my daughter was left with two meek middle school girls who didn't know how to lead a group. My daughter stood waiting for help for over five minutes. Finally, an adult teacher realized she was struggling and came over and helped her to where the rest of the group was trying to pick up shapes. However, she was quickly left alone once she had the shape and fell. She tried to get up for over 5 minutes and no one came to help her, and so she sat there crying. Instead the head teacher that came back to this group was blowing bubbles at the kids instead of teaching them how to skate. My daughter was finally helped up again only to be left and of course fell down again. By this time the lesson was over. I was happy when an adult teacher finally went to get her and help her skate to the wall so she might learn to skate for a few seconds, but instead the teacher picked her up and took her to the wall. My daughter was extremely frustrated with the "lesson", as were we, and she said she doesn't want to come back (and we don't blame her for a second). This class was disorganized and didn't teach her how to do anything on skates except fall down and wait several minutes for help. We will be trying to get a refund for the remaining lessons, and even if we can't there is no way we are coming back. read more

The Bridgepointe Ice Skating rink is back!

Joined during a public skating session on Friday evening. Place is generally good in terms rent/pay process and staff are friendly. The ice never got resurfaced/cleaned during a 2 hour public skating session so that's the downside. Ice was very pitted and dirty during the 2nd hour (there was was also blood in many spots from multiple people falling and getting hurt) that it was very easy to get your blade stuck in the heavily pitted areas and fall a lot for beginner/intermediate levels. A lot of obnoxious unsafe behavior from some skaters (pushing friends who end up hitting other people) with nobody flagging/observing. It would have been nice to at least see a quick break where a resurfacing machine would come to work during a long and busy public skating session like most places do. read more

Not overly impressed with first interaction. I tried to locate information about adult group lessons. Went on the website and called the number which was the Redwood City rink. The call was answered within 2 rings and they gave me the number to San Mateo. I called the San Mateo number and let it ring 20 plus times.....twice. I then drove over to the rink and found the class information. The sheet showed a package deal. I asked the people in the front the cost for a single drop in session and was told the package was not broken up or pro-rated. I left and called the Redwood City rink back and was told the drop in cost there was $28. I understand this is a new facility and the front office staff is probably still being trained but common sense dictates someone walking out the door is not money in the cash register. I can't understand why the person wouldn't inquire about a single session and not just stare at the same sheet I was. read more

Nice clean and comfortable location, the only problem is so crowded and too many people. Parking is no problem and lots of spaces to park. If they had a limit of visitation would be the best place . Me and my friends came even Monday evening there were more then 100 people there already. The prices are not that expensive like all other places. read more

The rink is fine but the staff working there is so bad. Any questions you ask them, they don't know the answer. They have the attitude that they just work there but they don't know anything about the facility. When you asked who knew the answer, the staff said the manager. When you asked if the manager is in, they said they didn't know when she would be in. Most of the staff are more interested in checking their phones. read more

I have been here several times and had not had a problem. Yesterday was different, there were lessons going on at the same time as public skate which is not fair to the child training nor the public there for fun. The coach kept yelling at my kids and other children telling them they could not skate in the middle of the rink, they had to only go one way while skating and all these other rules because she was giving lessons. Before I knew she worked there I complained to an employee. Her response was that she was a coach giving lessons and she gets frustrated a lot when others are skating during lessons. I have been to many other ice skating facilities and if they have something else going on they divide the space with cones and notify us in advance. PUBLIC SKATE means you are free to use the place how you please as long as you are being safe, not skate at a coaches convenience so the place makes more money. I will definitely drive a bit more to go elsewhere. read more

Arrived at 3:45 for a quick 30 min skate session, checked with the attendant up front to confirm ice time went until 4:15. Ice was cleared at 4:02 for a hockey game that was starting at 4:15. Asked for some of my money back, or a credit for future ice time and the two girls up front laughed me off. Wouldn't be too bothered if I hadn't confirmed I'd be getting 30 minutes of skate. As a seasoned skater, coach, and rink attendant myself, it bums me out to see a rink that was brought back to life, somewhat poorly represented. read more

My son takes skating lessons here and his session last week was a bit crowded to say the least, but my husband and I decided we would give it another try. They just opened up again under new management and as everything else, it takes time to get it all together. We had a much better time this week. They were way more organized and you could tell the staff was trying to get to every child and this week they had signs and everything was labeled clearly. You could tell they have made adjustments and I'm sure as the weeks go on it will get better and better. The added party room where the lockers used to be are a nice addition! read more

Looks like this is a recent opened facility. I enrolled my two kids for skate lessons here. If you are new to this facility just don't set any expectations. The staffs are absolutely mediocre. There is no customer service at all and they seem not motivated to answer any question about the class, even when they are not busy standing around. If there is other alternative, I would not suggest enrolling your kids here. I had been to better facility like the one in Fremont. read more

I was at first excited about the rink opening, until the poor customer service and bad times with public skating sessions. The rink wasn't really in good shape when it first closed, I remember the old management. Now that they got new management to recondition the rink, I'm still underwhelmed that the rink isn't as smooth. The place isn't maintained well, and I was expecting better hours since they already have more demand for public skating and they have another location. This is just disappointing that this rink isn't as good nor flexible for families and friends who come to just skate. read more
