There's a large grassy area that's perfect for picnics, birthday parties, or simply relaxing. My older kids also love using the open cement area to play volleyball, basketball, and other games. What I appreciate most is that the park offers something for everyone, from toddlers to older kids, while creating a safe and welcoming environment for families. The dragons to talk through to each other is really unique. Our daughter had a blast playing here and meeting a couple of kids early in the morning. Well maintained park, clean, seems to be a pretty safe spot. As a parent chasing a 4 year old the fencing between the big kids and little kids area was pretty annoying since it lacked gates where I would expect them to be.

Play structure is newer, grass is in great condition, and redwoods were planted as they should - in a cluster - to help support them in wind. (The San Leandro Marina - very windy - hasn't got a clue). Gross incompetence runs that city. This is a great city - I believe a lot of professionals working in San Francisco live here if they have kids. It just makes sense with school districts and parks and safety. Hey, I wouldn't be surprised if the mayor of SF lived here secretly.

On weekends, there are softball/baseball games in play in the field next to the park, but we were able to find parking relatively easily in the street. Bring a jacket if you come - even on a warm day, there are many areas of this park that are shaded due to the heavy trees in the area so it can get a bit chilly if you're in the shade.
