Adorable, delicious, straight forward community builder. My 5 year old nephew said, "Tata, I have to take you to Ice Cream Luv." We went twice while I visited from New York. You can feel the owner, Ray's, touch in every detail of the place. The 80's and 90's tunes tied it all together like a nice hip hoppy hug. read more

We luv Ice Cream Luv. In fact, it's a frequent stop for us after school to meet up with friends. For a long time there wasn't really a place we could walk to for something like this and it's been a real treat for our family. I see people below making comments about how it's not as fancy as some of the places in Highland Park. Yeah, thank goodness! I just want a delicious scoop of mint chocolate chip at a decent price. I'm not really into all the weird flavors my kids never like anyway and appreciate this place has all the favorites, a few fancy ones, and sorbet that is a huge hit. It's so nice they have vegan flavors, flavors for people with allergies, etc. Besides the great menu and fair prices, Ice Cream Luv has an adorable interior, lots of seating for everyone, free cold water, a nice bathroom, and just an overall good vibe. The people who work here are cool + nice, including the owner who we have met on a number of occasions. The one time I made the mistake of ordering my youngest child "Mexican chocolate" instead of regular chocolate, and she began crying because she didn't want the cinnamon, the sweet woman behind the counter replaced her cup of ice cream free of charge. It's a great place! I hope it'll be here for good. read more

Another incredible ice cream visit at Luv's. Ray is brilliant, nice, knows the flavor palette, and warms up the room with his hospitality and care for others. The vibe is relaxed with a jazzy/funky sound track. A bonus is the swamp cooler which keeps his place a nice temperature with the heat outside. Keep on keeping the people happy! Awesome spot! We came here this evening for a quick treat for my brother's birthday. And this spot is reminiscent of a classic ice cream shop with a hip, IG worthy flare. The flavors stay true to form, no outwardly experimental flavors, just good old fashioned and creamy ice creams. Aside from your typical dairy fixes, they also have selections that dairy dairy-free and gluten free (sorry I don't believe that have sugar-free, yet I hope!). It's a bit on the pricey side, however compared to other fancy ice cream locations, their serving sizes are well priced. I had a single scoop that was easily the size of a half a pint of ice cream that I almost thought it was too much for a single serving! Not that it's a bad thing. Also when ordering cones, they have 3 different types of cones, from your classic sugar cone, to your waffle cones. It's simplicity with all the options! Our server worked alone but she was super attentive and nice and really took the time to offer tastings of their selections. Seems this place might be here for some time to come, cuz they're a hit! read more

Even though it feels like this shop just opened, I was surprised to learn it's been around for almost a year--it took me way too long to finally try it. We walked into bright lights, a bold and fun design, and the smell of sweet ice cream in the air. The owner greeted us with so much energy and kindness. He encouraged us to sample as many flavors as we wanted, which made it even harder to decide what to get. We ended up going with Almond Fudge in a waffle cone and Rocky Road in a regular cone. If you get the Rocky Road, make sure to ask him to tell you the inside joke--it's a good one. The ice cream was really enjoyable--not too sweet, just the right balance. While we were eating, someone came in and ordered a Luvzookie (a warm cookie with ice cream and toppings), and we immediately knew we had to try that too. No regrets--it was delicious. Safe to say I've found a new favorite ice cream spot in the neighborhood. The owner was a joy to talk to, and the shop had such a laid-back, welcoming vibe. read more

Really bummed to see that this place closed, great service and ice cream, it had a great community feel to it.

My first time at Ice Cream Luv and it was GREAT! But what stood out was the girl working tonight 5/7 7pm. She was the only one at the store with a long line of customers. She was fast and efficient with a great smile on her face! You do not see this kind of service anymore read more

Been here a handful of times now and the icecream is so tasty and fresh. Ask for a sample if you're on the fence about which flavor to pick. The staff is friendly and patient with large groups. There's a water dispenser and cups available if needed. Parking can get tricky during the day likely but I've come on the evenings and haven't had any issues with street or the lot across the way. read more

Eagle Rock just got a whole lot sweeter with a new treat for the neighborhood - We absolutely LUV it! From rich classics to unique creations, every scoop is crafted with love and quality. It's the perfect spot for an afternoon treat or a late-night indulgence. Huge thanks to Ray for bringing such a warm, welcoming, and delicious addition to our neighborhood. I'll definitely be back for more! We highly recommend, the strawberry fields (vegan), mango sherbet, and the macadamia nut ice cream. There's so many to choose from. Pro tip: free street parking up to an hour. read more

Spontaneously came here about 20 minutes before closing and was invited in so warmly by Ray. He was extremely helpful and so kind, took his time walking us through the assortment of flavors and just had a great time chatting. The ice cream itself was delicious -- loved the cinnamon and the cone wafer was a nice addition. Would love to come back earlier during the day to try the other flavors ! read more

4 stars because I'm rooting for this place to thrive! I've visited four times (I live nearby), and while the vibe is adorable, the staff super friendly, and prices fair, the ice cream itself just doesn't pack the flavor punch I crave. The texture leans a bit taffy-like, and most flavors are milder than expected. A boost in spice, depth, and richness--especially in the Mexican chocolate, salted caramel, and green tea--could really take it to the next level. That said, the mocha almond fudge hit the spot, and I genuinely want this spot to succeed. Just hoping for a little more creaminess and decadence to match the charm! read more

With all the ice cream shops in Highland Park and Pasadena (and great ones at that - Jeni's, Salt & Straw, Wanderlust Creamery, Kinrose, Magpies, Scoops), it's somewhat surprising that Eagle Rock didn't have an ice cream shop till Ice Cream Luv opened. Yes, there are froyo shops and places to get ice cream (e.g., Colorado Donuts), but not an ice cream shop. Ice Cream Luv offers fairly traditional flavors (16 flavors a day - 2 of these were sorbet) that you can get by the scoop, with a waffle cone, as a banana split, sundae, or sandwich with toppings and whipped cream. They also have floats and milkshakes. Ask for samples. I don't believe that they make the ice cream but it's locally sourced. Lemon sorbet ($5.25, single scoop): The texture was off. It wasn't a ball of smooth, dense sorbet but was loose and icy like shaved ice or Italian ice. There were large ice chunks. The flavor was fine: tangy, tart, and a bit sour like a good lemonade. The flavors were too basic for me, but would probably satisfy the families in Eagle Rock. The space is simply decorated, but it does have one striking ice cream mural. Seating is limited and you may have to look for street parking (there is no parking lot). read more

New place in the hood. Luckily we caught them when they weren't too busy. The neighborhood page suggested lots of lines so we waited a bit to make our first visit. Spacey location but not a lot of inside seating. We grabbed two high chairs at a high table top that overlooked the front window. Nice servers. Ice cream was good but not a lot of exotic flavors more regular flavors you would expect to find. Kid loved it so that is all that matters. read more

We visited for the first time a few weeks ago, and if I weren't trying to limit my sweets intake, I'd go back once a week! Inside is super cute and the flavors all look so good! Great ice cream & very kind and friendly owner. Definitely recommend the Mexican chocolate flavor!

Very nice place to sit, chat, listen to music & eat ice cream. However, the chocolate & pistachio had no flavor. It was too soft & already melting when it was handed to me. A double scoop ($7.95) barely reached the top of a waffle cone. Wishing you the best of luck. read more

This is one of those examples of when a place can have so much going for it, but it falls short in the one area where it really counts. The space and customer service here are great. But the ice cream is just okay. Wildly inconsistent texture and sweetness levels across the board. Slushy sorbets and crumbly ice cream. A handful of flavors are good, but most are so bland and lack the creamy mouthfeel of a proper scoop. I would suggest the owners source their product from elsewhere. So much potential if they could just get the ice cream right. read more
