Vanilla soft serve with peanut butter topping

Wow! Amazing ice cream experience! We've been to a number of places in the Raymond, Casco, Windham region. We used to love Mosquitos- but I think they have either new management or suppliers or both- not so great any more. The Dugout really came through for us! There were tons of people there - we started at maybe 15th in line and we were at the front in like four minutes - so fast service! Also great selection! I got vanilla soft serve with peanut butter topping and it was absolutely amazing.

Great spot for some ice cream. Fun baseball themed combinations. Both hard and soft served. Outside seating with some covering on sunny days. No bathrooms just in case you are traveling.

This play has a great selection of ice cream, soft serves, and sherbet. The staff was friendly and the line goes by quick. Check it out if you're in the area. *cookie dough has massive amounts of dough!

Shain's of Maine ice cream ingredients

What's not to like about Ice Cream Dugout? It's your classic summer outdoor ice cream shack complete with an absurd number of ice cream flavors, a multitude of picnic tables and a big lawn to run around on. I had the Extreme Chocolate which was great. But let's be honest it's really about the location and experience. The ice cream here is made by Shain's of Maine which on the plus side is a relatively small local business. On the downside the ice cream is far from a high-end product. You can see the ingredient list in the ginger ice cream (the only ingredient list I could find a quick picture of online) is long and includes a number of stabilizers, preservatives and artificial sweeteners.

HUGE servings!!! I never thought I would say it but there was a bit too much cookie dough in the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. The strawberry cheesecake with fresh waffle cone was delicious though! Great value for the amount you get! The single was huge and I definitely should have gotten all of us a bundt.

A Pokey Reese. Reese peaces, peanut butter sauce and a warm peanut butter cookie. Mmmmmmmmm

Ever since I first heard about Super Secret Ice Cream, it's been on my must-try list. The concept…read moresounded so unique, and a flight of ice cream is basically my dream way to eat ice cream--I always struggle to choose just one flavor. The shop makes tiny-batch ice cream from scratch up in the White Mountains, and it shows in the quality. I went for the egg-carton flight, which came with six flavors: Slopeside Mint Chip, Trillium Coffee, Single Origin Chocolate, Honeycomb, Mount Cabot Maple, and one more I can't quite remember. Each scoop had its own personality--bright mint, bold coffee, rich chocolate, and the maple and honeycomb were especially standout. The space itself is a fun little spot, perfect for a hot day. Portions aren't huge, which I actually liked because it felt more like a treat or snack rather than an overload. My only gripe is that the flavors aren't labeled on the carton, so it can be a bit of a guessing game figuring out what you're tasting. Overall though, between the creativity, the locally inspired flavors, and the chance to try a bunch at once, it's absolutely worth the stop if you're in the area.

It has won various awards, and after just one taste of their ice cream, you'll think to yourself: "Ah, okay - now it all makes sense." I'm finding it hard to accurately describe the flavor explosion when I took a bite of the strawberry shortcake ice cream. It was sweet and tangy, with a crumbly crunch in every bite from the graham cracker. It's as if the strawberry shortcake pops you got from the ice cream truck as a kid were somehow 10 times more delicious and folded into creamy, strawberry ice cream. The place itself is adorable, with plenty of options for outdoor seating both in the front and back. There's even a board where you can spell out words with magnetic letters and a giant checkers game. They've somehow nailed incredible ice cream with a super cool vibe. Service is always fast, friendly, and happy to help you find the right flavor by letting you sample different options. This place is a MUST visit in the Western White Mountains!

My favorite regular flavor is Cheesecake w/ Raspberry & Graham Crust, but I'm also crazy about the vegan Coffee w/ Chocolate Cookie Crumble + Caramel Swirl. I like to boat over and have ice cream at lunch time on the weekdays, so hopefully at least one of those will come on the rotation before I head home! They used to have an option where you could get your ice cream on a brioche--it would be cool to see that return someday. Remember to bring cash as they are cash-only, and bring your patience as there are often hordes of children trying to figure out what they want (and what they can afford) while they order.

Creative, delicious flavors, creamy texture, and tons of vegan options. I had a scoop of their signature Honey Bee and a scoop of Cherry Pie (vegan). Both were amazing. I ordered it on a sugar cone and was told no--they only serve two scoops on a cake cone so I got a dish, which used to come with a little pizzelle, but doesn't anymore. These were just the start of the "NOs" at Bresca and The Honey Bee. This place is *loaded* with signs telling you "NO"! A lot of it is what you would expect: NO smoking, NO vaping, NO open flames, NO going to the beach without paying, and also NO using the paddle boats without paying. Some of it is appears to be in response to specific, and infrequent bad behavior: NO throwing rocks, NO feeding the ducks, NO pushing on the dock, NO jumping off the slide, various rules about diapers on babies, NO unaccompanied children under 16? (this is an ice cream shack and swimming hole?), etc. Either way, the visual bombardment of the posted "NO -----" signs makes this place seem like they've missed the mark in creating a welcoming place people go to have fun and enjoy delicious ice cream. The signs with dozens and dozens of "NO" messages makes the place seem hostile. Despite feeling like we might somehow slip up and they might kick us out or call the cops, we did enjoy our ice cream and then upon throwing the cup out, were confronted with a "small trash only--NO pizza boxes" sign on the trash. What the heck?!

As I've moved up to Aroostook County, Maine, ive had some of the worst pizza ive ever had up there so on a recent trip back from CT, I searched out "New Haven style pizza in Maine" and "Fire & Ice Maine popped up so I tried it today! The service and people working there could not be nicer and when they knew I was from Connecticut, we really got into the nuances of what makes it great. I actually met the owner on my way out and he could not be nicer, telling me all of the places he's been to and worked at in the New Haven pizza area of Wooster Street. So I got in my car and opened up the box and was pleasantly surprised to finally see a pizza even look like New Haven. After biting into it, it was addicting! No flop, an "8" on the undercarriage and cooked right on top! The sauce was very close and it was crispy too! The only thing off and this is REALLY being picky was the chewiness but again, this is really being picky! Overall, a 4.8 on a 5 star scale and THEE BEST NEW HAVEN APIZZA is. MAINE to date!
