Imagine how "thrilled" we were to find out that their frequent buyer cards are no longer accepted. They stopped accepting them in June, so non-locals who summer up here can basically go screw themselves. This ice cream spot was in walking distance from our hotel. It had a wide variety of sweet items and it was reasonably priced and delish. I pretty much got the same thing each time we got, a peanut butter sundae with soft serve and it hit the spot every time. The service was quick and friendly, even with the long lines. There were plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your ice cream and the parking was plentiful if you needed to drive vs walk. The only issue - which isn't their fault - were the bugs. I'm gonna make this a quick review, but I do want you to know this place was amazing! The employees were super sweet and really friendly. They were very fast as well but there wasn't a lot of people. The few people that were there were really enjoying it. The atmosphere in general was just comforting. I always go here when I'm getting my dog a pup cup. Wow! Amazing ice cream experience! We've been to a number of places in the Raymond, Casco, Windham region. We used to love Mosquitos- but I think they have either new management or suppliers or both- not so great any more. The Dugout really came through for us! I had the Extreme Chocolate which was great. But let's be honest it's really about the location and experience. The ice cream here is made by Shain's of Maine which on the plus side is a relatively small local business. On the downside the ice cream is far from a high-end product. You can see the ingredient list in the ginger ice cream (the only ingredient list I could find a quick picture of online) is long and includes a number of stabilizers, preservatives and artificial sweeteners. read more

What separated this from other places was the flavor of the soft serve. I find that most soft service is only sublet in flavor, this on the other hand was full of flavor. They have a huge assortment of flavors and I couldn't make up my mind. I got a sugar cone with the standard chocolate flavor 2 scoops and a 3 scoop cup of Rum Raisin, Maine Tracks and Maine Survivor. Total cost for the large portions was exactly 8 bucks. Please note that this place is completely Pro-Boston Redsox to a point that their largest frappe is called "Yankees Suck!" which is super thick. Some of the items you may want to try straight from their menu: Apple Papelbon - A homemade cinnamon bun covered with hot apple topping, a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream with hot caramel, topped with whipped cream and garnished with cinnamon. Wally the Green Monster - Vanilla ice cream, choc. syrup, whip cream, green jimmies & M&M's. Teddy Ballgame - A scoop of ice cream, whip cream, Oreo cookie ears, two cherry eyes & a Reese's Pieces nose.
