Great hotel with long history in the Old Port. Centrally located for enjoying food and…read moreentertainment. The staff are friendly and very accommodating for guests arriving late at night to utilize the complimentary airport shuttle service and also allow for a slightly later checkout to support utilizing the spa services. The bed was comfortable and room provided everything I needed. The on site gym was actually larger than I expected and had a reasonable amount of free weights. The restaurant was amazing.....delicious food, well prepared and again very friendly and attentive staff. Lobster for breakfast was exactly what I needed to remind me I was home. I would definitely stay at the Regency again. Thank you!

Stayed two nights recently and was not overly impressed. The service was good, but a bit…read morepretentious, like we should feel privileged to be there. The jacuzzi and steam rooms were under renovation from the last week of June through mid-July, which seems like odd timing since it is busy season. It didn't really affect us as we weren't planning to use, but advance notice would have been nice. The people checking in in front of us were upset about it, but their complaints were completely brushed off. The rooms were comfortable but need refreshing. Stains on the carpet, etc. The walls are thin and you can hear the people in the room next to you. The location is excellent for walking throughout downtown Portland. Easy access to the waterfront and many top restaurants. Doubtful we'd stay again.

Our meal at Fore Street is without a doubt one of the top 3 meals I've had in my life. From…read moreentering that beautiful building, to the drink in the bar, to an incredible meal it was all unreal. Our waiter was fantastic and I'm sorry I have forgotten his name. He was very knowledgeable and attentive. We started with the pear salad and grilled squid. The squid was like nothing I've ever had and I would return just for it. My wife loved the salad and the bite she gave me was delicious. For our mains my wife got the roasted half chicken and I got the lamb chop special. It was the best lamb I've ever had. I would've eaten the gravy off of my shoe. My wife couldn't stop talking about how juicy the chicken was. There was so much of it I got to eat most of the leg and thigh. It was an excellent chicken. We also had roasted brussels and they were excellent. For dessert we shared the pecan butterscotch pie and while it wasn't what I expected it was nonetheless fantastic.

Went to Fore Street after a recommendation from a Maine native, and it was pretty good. We had an…read more8:45 reservation, and the restaurant was still popping. The ambiance was really nice and made the evening feel relaxing and welcoming. Our waiter was also great, very friendly and helpful throughout the meal. The first appetizer we tried was the charcuterie board. It was a very meat-heavy board with some unique selections. I forgot the exact names, but it included pork, boar, and veal, and they all went well together. My only complaint is that I wish they had included crackers or maybe even pretzels to go with it. For our next appetizers, we tried the oven-roasted mussels and an open-faced veal sandwich (definitely not the actual name of the dish). The mussels were really big and had plenty of meat inside. The sauce was good, and the portion was generous, making it easy to share. The veal was also pretty good and very tender, which made it easy to eat. This dish was on the smaller side, so I think it would be best for two people at most. For the entrée, we tried the pecan-crusted swordfish with risotto. It was really good, especially considering it was my first time trying swordfish. I could definitely see myself ordering it again in the future. The risotto really carried the dish and was a standout. Lastly, we had the crème brûlée for dessert, which was great. Overall, after this experience, I can see why Fore Street came so highly recommended. Between the ambiance, the service, and the food, it was a really enjoyable dinner.
