The first time I stoped here was on a whim. They had just opened for the day and just finished making the chocolate. That was a few years ago, and I have been coming back here ever since. It's absolutely , hands down the best frozen custard I have ever had. It's creamy without being heavy. I just have no words to describe it. Even my bff who only likes " soft serve" said that it was the best ice-cream she has ever had and thoroughly enjoyed her hot fudge Sunday. They only have a few flavors, and they change them up , so every time I go it's a bit of a surprise, but I've never been disappointed. I don't eat ice- cream that often but when I do I want the good stuff, it's got to be worth the calories, this is worth every one. read more

Great location right on Route 302. Plenty of parking. Easy in - and out, just watch the traffic. Selling food as well as frozen custard ice cream (frozen custard is the best). Nice building, neat and clean, multiple picnic tables with umbrellas. Would of got a 5 Star but the teenagers-with-attitude put a bug in that. I guess I'm older and didn't quite get what they were saying the first time they said it. Regardless, we will return. Small farm type barn selling frozen custard and fresh fruits off the side of the road. They also had fried foods but we only had the frozen custard. It tasted great! Got to sample a couple before deciding on a medium cup with 2 flavors - white chocolate mocha and chocolate covered cherries. Both were delicious! If you haven't had frozen custard before, it's thicker than ice cream but just as smooth and tasty. Great friendly service and lots of shaded seating out front. If you get tired of the usual ice cream options in the Lakes Region, take a ride to Raymond's and try some homemade frozen custard. Similar to ice cream, but a bit smoother, softer and richer. As others mentioned, the flavors are limited, but they cover the basics, and the special flavors are great: at various times they had Coffee Heath Crunch, Lemon (yum!) and Grasshopper (super yum! with mint ice cream, cookie crunch and fudge ribbon), and peach Melba. It seems to be a little away from the key tourist-y areas, so the place doesn't have a really long line most of the time (try going here when the Lakeside Dairy Bar in Naples has a 45 minute long line) and service is fast. Be forewarned: you're in the middle of a field and the mosquitoes are plentiful. Just walk away from the lights on the front of the building and you'll be much better. read more

Imagine regular ice cream but richer, creamier, thicker....it's artisan ice cream at it's best but this being Raymond/Naples it's not marketed as such. You pull into the parking lot and there's a nifty little farm stand - stuff changes daily - we've had awesome blueberries and good corn. The ordering/menu is slightly confusing. Lots of pictures of regular ice cream and then a tiny white board with the current flavors. So you get a lot of people asking for whats in the pictures without looking at the white board. Essentially they make the frozen custard regularly and the flavors change. So if you're looking for a specific flavor or you like 52 flavors then this isn't for you. But if you're looking for the most delicious ice cream that blows Haagen Daaz away then you need to stop. I've had the Rum Raisin (amazing), Black Raspberry (creamy yet refreshing). some kind of candy bar magic (I forget the name but it involved M&Ms, Heath Bar and other good stuff) and it's always AMAZING. I have a pistachio allergy (like full-on epipen magnitude) and last time we were there they had a Pistachio custard. The girl behind the counter was awesome. Explained that they couldn't guarantee my custard would be free of pistachio but I saw her wash and re-wash the scoop. And I'm not dead. So it's all good. If you're in Naples, Raymond, Casco, Windham you MUST get frozen custard ice cream. So good. read more

I may plan a vacation next year based on getting my family close enough to this place that we can get some frozen custard every night... We spent the day on the Maine coast and decided to look for some ice cream on the way back to our cabin in New Hampshire. I do not have the vocabulary to express how good this stuff is. The special flavor of the night was Blueberry Pie, which they told us had just been made. We took the medium size (plenty big) in the waffle cone. It was so rich, perfectly sweet, and had the most delightful creamy texture. I may hop back in the car when I'm done typing this to drive the hour back to Maine to get another serving. The only drawback is that I think I am now an ice cream snob. We passed several other ice cream joints on our way home, all of which were very crowded in touristy areas (Naples, Fryeburg). My wife and I stopped by to have some ice cream. We traveled by a couple of times and saw that it was custard ice cream and wanted to try it. We didn't check Yelp and had no idea of the great reviews. Little did we know we were in for a treat. They also have grilled food as well and some really good looking blueberries, tomatoes and other vegetables for sale. There was a sign that said Peach Melba ice cream was just made so I tried that. Peach Melba is a raspberry flavor with chunks of peaches in it. My wife had the Oreo cookie ice cream. Well, we weren't disappointed. My ice cream was creamy with a silky texture, the raspberry flavor tasted, well, like fresh raspberries. The chunks of peaches tasted delicious and sweet. I took a bite of my wife's Oreo ice cream and it was the same, creamy, silky and delicious with plenty of chunky Oreos. I have to say it was some of the best ice cream I've ever had. If you are driving through central Maine I strongly suggest stopping at this tiny shop and trying their awesome frozen custard (ice cream). They have limited flavors (probably Vanilla, Chocolate, Black Raspberry, and a fourth special one) but they are all terrific. The ice cream is thick and delicious and amazing on a summer day. The other great thing about the place are the people. Raymond is incredibly friendly and happy to talk your ear off about just about anything, including the makeshift air strip in back of the shop where locals fly in to get their custard. When visiting this establishment my family and I were extremely disappointed with the results. First when we arrive, there was already little options for flavors. And with the options given to us there was very little available at the time. Second we ordered both Extra Thick Frappes and regular Frappes; expecting a drinkable ice cream, yet again I was let down. Both the Regular and the Extra Thick Frappes needed a spoon and even then they were too thick to enjoy. Service was subpar and prices were way to high for the taste and their options available. Hands down, the absolute best! There are few favors (five when we went) but all were terrific! The Almond Joy had the pefect blend of coconut and chocolate chips and my husband ordered the Whoppi Pie which was also good. The Small size is large enough to feed two adults so ask for the take out cover when you order. It makes a great treat for later if you can stop yourself from eating the entire serving in one sitting. read more
