Our red-eye trans-Atlantic flight arrived in Lisbon at 6am. We know our rooms won't be ready this early, but before we asked, the guy at the check in counter let us know that we could put our luggage in their luggage room, go enjoy some breakfast, and they would have the room ready at 11am for us. Well, it was closer to 11:30 when we got the room, but it was still very much appreciated, that we could freshen up a bit before we started exploring the city.
The room is standard Ibis, a bit on the small size but comfortable and clean. Very basic amenity, don't expect body lotion, coffee pot or the like.
The hotel is not far from metro, train and bus stations, about 10-15 min walk, so transportation is convenient. After a long day excursion to Setubal the bus dropped us off almost right at the hotel's door steps, Uber couldn't do better. That said, there's not a lot going on around the neighborhood. There's a pretty good cafe for breakfast or quick lunch, plus two all-you-can-eat Asian buffets and a vegetarian restaurant, all within a block or two on the same street. If you get on the main street, there's the metro and train stations, as well as more cafes and restaurants, and some small grocery stores, but not much shopping or entertainment otherwise.
The hotel itself has a cafe that is open 24/7, serving drinks as well as microwaved pizza and entrees. The breakfast buffet is not bad at all for around €7, it includes squeeze-it-yourself orange juice, bread, cold cuts, fresh yogurt, pasteis de nata and more. read more
