We were welcomed in with the very warm service and friendly customer service .As I looked at the case to make my selection, they have specialty and unique pastries one of their signatures is Mochi donuts with rotating monthly flavors I got the pear berry, blackberry, butterscotch, lemon meringue. My favorite pastries are croissants and they have biscuit and gravy croissant ,ham and gruyere croissant , a croissant with a fried spam slice, apricot pistachio puff, and their croissants are on monthly rotating flavors. I ate my chocolate croissant and I must say it was the best croissant I have ever had so flaky and soft packed with lots of filling, so go give them a try and remember it is a first come first service because they do sell out early. I went for the pistachio honey latte (I'm a sucker for pistachio!) and snagged the last veggie quiche of the morning around 11am. Both were absolutely delicious and perfect for breakfast. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a cozy spot no matter the weather. For parking, I'd recommend Westport Road or 40th Street (west of Main) and taking a short walk. Preordering whole quiches, tarts, cookies, cupcakes may require 48 hours' notice. Enchanté is more than just a bakery--it's a little slice of magic in Kansas City. I didn't see the water, and slipped and indeed fell quite hard. I'm youngish and spry, and was able to bounce back, and am just sore and achy. But nobody made any comment to me or expressed any concern (other than other guests). I in fact had to report the incident after flagging someone down, and nobody offered as much as an apology or asked if I was ok. I'm honestly glad it was me rather than an older person, as the outcome could have been rough. The food at McLain's is consistently good. I don't care for their coffee or espresso, but it's just not to my taste, I don't think it's poor quality. Bottom line, I think they could work on their soft skills regarding their guests (particularly when potential injuries are on the table). That said, do get a chicken salad sandwich from them. Maybe just order it to go...
