Excellent in EVERY way!…read more Yesterday, I fractured my front tooth. I called Dr. McCarthy's office and was offered an 8:15am appointment today. I live about 10 minutes away from the office, so I left with time to spare. I did not realize that I would encounter a detour that resulted in me being 20 minutes late for my appointment. I called ahead to alert the office and received a warm greeting; "That is fine, I will let the doctor know." I went to the appointment and I no more than sat in my chair when I was called back. As I walked to the treatment room, several employees said hello and called me by name. (Grant it I'm not a frequent flyer at the office, I normally show up every six months.) I sat in the chair and within a minute Dr. McCarthy came in with a smile to say hello and asked how my husband was doing. (My husband is also a patient.) Dr. McCarthy went straight to the procedure and within 15 minutes, I was finished. He explained what he had done and what to expect, but he also went on to say that we have patched the tooth before and we may want to consider a more long term solution. He offered to go ahead with impressions so if I decided to move forward with the long term solution, I would not have to come back to the office. As I was leaving, his wife (who is also a dentist at the practice) yelled goodbye down the hallway and called me by name. From start to finish, I felt that I was part of a family. They made me feel welcome, no matter if I was late for the appointment. Everyone from start to finish made me feel that I was the most important part of their day. Every office should strive for this type of customer service. I have nothing but great things to say this office and highly recommend them.

Long Time Patient, Big Time Smile…read more I have been a patient of Dr. Sirakian for more than 20 years, and can honestly say I wouldn't go anywhere else for any care related to my teeth. I drive more than an hour to get to his office, and consider the time well spent for the perfect care and attention I receive. I first met Dr. Sirakian when he was a graduate student at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston around 1991. I was one of the lucky ones to be treated by Dr. Sirakian, he just happened to be available to take on my major dental project. My dental care had been nonexistent for many years, and I made poor decisions when I was in college that required extensive repair and treatment. Dr. Sirakian was studying prosthodontics as a graduate student, and he was determined to give me a brilliant smile by the time I got married the following year. It seems like I had more than 20 appointments, and during those times I had ample opportunity to observe Dr. Sirakian firsthand, both with me and his colleagues. I also observed the regard and professional respect they showed him. I know him to be meticulous about his work; he clearly had a vision of what he wanted as a result, and did not hesitate to re-do molds, impressions, color matching and things like that until he was thoroughly satisfied. I knew if he was satisfied, I would be ecstatic! Dr. Sirakian is always kind and patient, but he epitomizes the ideal professional in other ways too. He explains what he is doing, and why it might be necessary; he provides options and advice, and always has time for me as a patient. I never feel rushed or uninformed, and feel that he is accessible to me. The work he did back then has lasted more than 25 years. During this time wherever his practice went, my family and I followed. I am now having additional prosthodontic work done in light of today's dental advances, and am impressed all over again. Dr. Sirakian's staff are equally pleasant to work with, and it is easy to see that they enjoy their work together, and work well as a team. I highly recommend this practice!

The administrative side of the practice has been very difficult to deal with over the last few months -- calls aren't returned, there's confusion over bills and appointments, and the employees at the desk often seem confused and overwhelmed. They've had some turnover in their dental staff, from hygienists to dentists, and lost some really great employees. The newer employees lack the compassion and warmth of the prior staff members. They've also become very aggressive about asking for reviews and pushing patients to provide positive reviews, which really felt unethical to me.

After back and forth with the staff, hygienist, Dr. Wu, and her junior dentist, I reluctantly submitted. At checkout, the receptionist told me how "lucky" I was because Dr. Wu didn't charge for the xrays or exam. Yet the whitening itself -- originally quoted at $650 -- was billed at $899. With the cleaning, my total was over $1,000. When I questioned the discrepancy, the receptionist and office manager insisted that $899 was the "standard price" and that I must be mistaken. To test this, I had my son call the office weeks later. He was quoted $650 for whitening, with no mention of mandatory cleaning, xrays, or exam.

I had an orthodontic emergency where my permanent retainer broke, and there was exposed sharp metal in my mouth. I was not originally a patient with Chan & Chen Orthodontics but they still took me right away. I called many other orthodontics offices, and nobody else could take me that day. It was the Friday before a 3 day weekend, and I was very scared I'd have to go the whole weekend with the sharp metal in my mouth. Chan & Chen Orthodontics fixed my permanent retainer quickly and did a great job, for a reasonable price. I would highly recommend this business.
