I called I-Shred based on reviews I read on Google and on Yelp. When I talked to Reuben, I estimated I had 30 boxes in a storage unit in La Quinta that needed shredding. I found out the price, which was very reasonable, and we set a date and time for someone to come and meet me at the unit and shred the documents on-site. When Jerry arrived and saw the boxes stacked in the unit, he told me I had underestimated by quite a lot. He guessed I had at least 40 boxes. He gave me an estimate of the revised cost, and I told him to go ahead. Jerry was polite, efficient and professional. He was working fast because he was trying to make up for the extra time the job would take. I learned next time to have papers removed from 3-ring binders. I also learned that staples don't have to be removed---thank goodness! Jerry ended up shredding 43 boxes worth of documents. Because of my underestimate, I made Jerry late for the rest of his appointments. I apologized to both Jerry and Reuben for causing such a hassle, and I appreciated their outstanding customer service. I'm writing to share the great experience I had with i-Shred (Palm Desert) this past weekend. I arranged for them to come to my storage unit for mobile shredding. I never had the need to shred as much as I did, never used mobile shredding, needed a certificate of destruction, and had LOTS of questions. Never having needed a document shredding company before, I shopped around online and finally decided to go with I-Shred. I have to say that I was not at all disappointed! The crew of two young men that showed up on-time and within the 2-hour window I was given, were great and they were very willing and able to shred 19 banker paper cases full of 27-year-old tax forms (I am a tax professional) and made very fast work of the situation in very quick time. We had 11 boxes (approximately 220 pounds) of documents we needed shredded. We had an appointment this morning with i-shred and could not have been happier. They arrived right on time. Unbelievable, after having them shred boxes I received a bill which I paid on the spot. Eight hours Later I received a call that I underpaid. I said I paid the invoice that was given to me by their employees for $105, he said it was for $205. I said no it was for $105, Ruben told me I was wrong. I still had the invoice and it was $105. He said his employees made a mistake and that the 30 boxes estimated would make the bill $205. I told him there wasn't 30 boxes it was just my original estimate. since I believe there were more than 10 boxes (less than 30) I acquiesced and sent this company another $100 but want to warn future customers of this companies customer service acumen. read more
