If you did not look at your bill and start to wonder why it's so high, it is this hidden fee. You might wonder if this fee help at for anything free - absolutely not. You do not get anything free. You need to pay for water. There's no free bread or anything. When you ask them, they say it was on the menu and they don't show you where it is. Since they left a menu at the door, I then looked and it was in the second page in SMALL light orange letter on a GLOSSY white menu. You can barely read it but if you place around with the lighting ant holding the menu in different angles then you will see it. I read such awesome review by others so I want to try it. Don't believe the review about the pizza. You are simple paying for an overly expensive, glorified bread that barely has topics and cheese. See my pictures. The pizza is small and cost 30-50% more than other places. In some cases, I don't even know if you can call it a pizza. I should have know when it's prime dinner time and there's only one other table. I think the people who wrote the review stayed at the hotel that it's connected to and was too lazy to find found elsewhere. So they order a pizza and took it to their room.

This place is a little bit pricey, but also I feel as though it was worth it for our first time Europe travel. It's right outside of Pompeii at the exit , so knowing it was in a toy area we knew that we might be paying a little bit more for the food. But the service made up for everything, it seems as though it's very team service and a lot of the workers were helping us not just Salvatore. Overall, we had a really great experience and would be back.

In this fashion, we were lured into this establishment by the owner while walking through the silent street on a gloomy afternoon. The open, airy space is pleasant and unpretentious. The welcome by waiters was more comparable to a greeting that a host would provide for guests into their own house. Being presented with a wide spanning menu felt completely unnecessary, as within moments of sitting down, the chef came out of the kitchen to greet and tell about the house specialties. The middle aged Italian man was dressed very cleanly and despite little knowledge of English, provided a better recommendation than one could ever desire from yelp or from the menu itself, which still laid untouched on the table. The prosciutto bruschetta was bursting with flavor of fresh, ripe tomatoes that gave off the sweetness of a cherry, the fullness of sun ripening and the flavor that can only be experienced in a dream. The paccheri pasta looked as beautiful as it tasted, in a pleasant green color and the flavor profile that one can only experience in select establishments. Amusingly from the name, the Carlo Alberto pizza was the least favorite of the dishes had here, but was very interesting. If coming through to visit Pompeii, do not miss this establishment.

We grabbed two sandwiches and drinks, which were good to give you energy for the amount of walking your about to do for the rest of the day. The service was good for a tourist spot! I just wished they had more fans or even AC running because it was about 35-40C that day and it was very toasty inside.

Hungry and tired after that day's journey from Rome, we decided to try this one out. We cringed at the thought that we were met by a "barker" as we walked by with promises of "fresh juices" and delicious pizza, but being thirsty and hungry, we willed ourselves to enter this establishment right in front of the Villa Dei Misteri entrance of the Pompeii ruins. Our server was par for Italian customer service (no smile and no small talk) but that's a given with most of Italy. The juices were indeed refreshing but I think the OJ had add-on sugar on it because it was just too sweet. We were surprised by the quality of the pizza (our first in Napoles, the birthplace of pizza) and the freshness of the seafood in our pasta. No additional parmesan or red pepper flakes needed. For some reason, our server got us bottles of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Maybe because we spoke English, hence she thought "American". Well surprise, surprise. I actually enjoyed the Quattro Formaggi (four cheese) pizza with the dipping sauce made common allover the US of A. FYI, bread service isn't free in Italy. A great experience. It fueled and refreshed us weary travelers to go through the rest of the afternoon and night in this quiet Italian town.

It looked nice and inviting from the outside and the posted menu and prices were very reasonable. This was our first official meal in Italy and it was amazing! I had the capresse salad and my daughter had the pizza Quatro formagi, we shared the a frituri (not sure if I spelled that right, but it's fried calimari and prawns) Tomatoes were beautiful and fresh, and the mozzarella the best I've ever had (maybe there's better, but it's the best I've had so far) drizzled in olive oil and lightly seasoned with basil and herbs. The calamari was perfect, crisp coating on the outside and a wonderful texture. Not the usual rubbery fair we get state side. My 13 yr old nearly polished off her entire pizza and the little piece I had was deliciously cheesy with a perfect stone oven crust. All this, 31€. (2€ for the bottle of water) The restaurant itself was very clean and nicely decorated. I noticed as many Italian patrons as I did foreigners. A lot of the staff spoke some English and did with out having to be asked, although I had hoped to use some of the Italian I learned before our trip. I can't attest to the authenticity but it was far better than all of the higher priced Italian restaurants I've been to back home. Enjoy!
