Our decision was made based on Gale who provided me with great customer service by answering my questions and concerns with such professionalism and patience. She had someone at our house within the hour to assess the situation at hand. That, someone, was Kenny. He assessed the situation and advised us that someone will contact us with a price. I honestly thought the leaks we had from our bathroom through the kitchen ceiling (already made holes in our ceiling) were going to cost us both our arms and legs. Gale called us back with a very reasonable and fair price for the work to be done. Which was to find the leaks, repair them and replace both our toilet and vanity. We agreed on the set price and scheduled for work to start the next day. Kenny showed up bright and early and on time with a mask on. He wore it at all times. He did all the purchases of materials needed, breakdown, repairs, and installations. What I was most worried about was the mess that I would have to deal with afterward. There was nothing much for us to do but to sweep a second time, wipe down, and mop because he cleaned up after himself, took out all the garbage, and took everything with him. That's including the old toilet and vanity plus the boxes the new ones came in. We were so impressed by that because the other companies told us we would be responsible for all of that. After the work was done, he advised us to call in immediately if we saw or heard any leaks. The only call I had to make was a "Thank you" one. I don't know about anyone else but from beginning to the end it was an amazing experience and a job very well done! We highly recommend their services to all and anyone we know! Thank you very much Gale and Kenny at L Richards Plumbing & Heating! If we ever need you again we will definitely give you a call.

We had an amazing experience with Angelo and Tina at Hydraulic Mechanical. If you find them, you…read morecan stop you searching, bc you will come back and hire them. Gas work is highly regulated and complicated in NYC. You need a good licensed plumber that can take good care of you as only they have the insight to the entire process with DOB and ConEdison. Here's what's good about them. 1.The plumber Angelo is a truly professional and knows way more than other plumbers. He not only knows the gas systems of different kinds and regulations quite well. He did a great job and also corrected the previous mistakes the other plumbers made. 2.Angelo was very honest, transparent, and trustworthy. In general, gas work isn't cheap. However, they gave us a very reasonable price and didn't charge for more than you need. (To the contrary, when we were searching, some OTHER plumber tried to rip us off for more than $20,000 by threatening us with unrelated regulations). Angelo was also generous enough to teach us simple fixes to address the minor issues that don't need a licensed plumber. 3.Angelo and his fellow workers are very passionate about their work and they loved their job. They went extra miles to check other issues and gave you tons of advice. They don't charge for anything that is outside you gas work scope. 4.Tina plays an important role in dealing with DOB and ConEdison. DOB and ConEdison often try to give you a hard time and being very inefficient. In a case of an emergency, this is a big deal. But Tina will fight along with you as a team. And together we had successfully overturned ConEdison's challenge and had the gas turned on in just a few days. Also, Angelo also plays an important role in dealing with them as well. 5.Both Tina and Angelo were highly responsive and available. After the gas work was done, there were about 3 weeks time to finish the inspection, paper work, etc to have DOB and ConEdison to close their cases. And they were always there for you for the followups. We think Angelo and Tina are great and we are happy to hire them again for the future gas work!

I actually had no intention of leaving a review, just came here to confirm my suspicions, though…read morenow I feel I should weigh in given the other negative experiences (and the plumber's baffling response to Erin B.). Agree with the concept of grifting. I paid this plumber thousands of dollars to do basic plumbing work in our new co-op, and knew I was being vastly overcharged but did it because he was known to our contractor and building. But here's the RUB: As part of the work, we had the plumber install a water line for an icemaker, and another completely shady outlet, AJ Madison, delivered the wrong refrigerator -- meaning the day BEK Plumbing was finishing work in the kitchen, no icemaker could be installed. Fast forward six weeks -- we finally get the correct refrigerator delivered, and just to come back and finish the work we'd paid for, BEK/Dzema wanted $550. TO HOOK UP AN ICE LINE THAT WE'D PAID HIM FOR. It's so egregious it's almost funny. We were left in the lurch with the wrong refrigerator and he wanted to FURTHER PROFIT off our hardship. Meantime, the dishwasher he installed leaks and doesn't work properly, but in a MILLION YEARS I'd never let this grifter back into our apartment. Clearly with these "business" practices and lack of ethics he's struggling -- and he should. Constantly trying to cheat people catches up with you eventually.

He cancelled on me twice with next to no communication. When I was able to reach him by phone, he was argumentative and dismissive. I came away feeling that my job was an inconvenience and far less important than the other projects he had going on. After repeated delays and ignored phone calls, I finally told my superintendent that I was no longer interested in working with Jack and would find someone else. Ironically he became available within the hour. What made the experience especially disappointing is that I had hired him for a kitchen plumbing job the year before. I expected a returning customer to be treated with at least a basic level of professionalism and respect, but that wasn't my experience. Poor communication, unreliable scheduling, inflated pricing, and an unprofessional attitude. I would recommend looking elsewhere.
