We were a little tired and parched after our one-hour round trip hike to the Volta Lighthouse,…read morewhich is located at the top of a hill, in the already lofty town of Brunate. Bruanate is located 2,335 feet above sea level, and overlooks the city of Como. Upon our return, we came upon the Ristorante Vista Lago, which offered a beautiful view from their outside balcony at the edge of the Brunate hillside. It is located near the Funicular which connects Brunate to Como in about 7 minutes.
The restaurant is in the Vista Lago Hotel, a small hotel with 13 rooms. It was a quiet and warm afternoon when we sat down, and our waiter arrived promptly. The menu is fairly basic, and we ordered two waters and two cappuccinos, to be follow by a cheese and mushroom pizza.
The cappuccinos were very good, but the pizza was not, tasting incrementally better than a store-bought frozen pizza. Oh well, the view was a great consolation prize! Should you happen to be in Brunate, and you'd like a drink with a great view, this is an excellent choice. For lunch or dinner, I'd suggest you consider elsewhere.
