This is the standout for me in Lake Como! Everything here is top notch! Service, view, ambience, food, you name it. We dined here twice for dinner during our 3 night stay. We took the funicular (cable car) to the top of the mountain and found this restaurant. The views from the restaurant can't be beat. There is indoor and outdoor seating and both offer the spectacular views. The first time we ate here, we sat outside. As the evening went on, it started to get chilly. We noticed some of the diners had blankets, presumably provided by the restaurant. They also had transparent wind blocker shades they rolled down on the side, which really helped cut down on the chilly wind. On our second visit, we sat indoors and loved that the views were just as spectacular. Our server from the first night really stood out! He was so polite and genuine. They other servers were great too but he was the most attentive. It seems like they share duties as we weren't assigned a particular server. The food is really good and the prices are reasonable for this type of restaurant. The menu posted at the entrance isn't updated - ask for the current menu if you want to preview it. The first night I ordered the pappardelle pasta with duck sauce. It's not a duck sauce but rather, pasta with huge chunks of duck! The duck was so tender and seasoned perfectly. There is no gamey taste at all, which can sometimes happen with duck. On my second visit, I ordered the lasagna with béchamel sauce. It is very different from the lasagna I'm used to. It is not tomato based and it is round instead of square! It's cooked with a light creamy, almost sweet sauce. It was delicious! Others enjoyed the truffle ravioli and the steak. read more

Situated ideally at the top of Brunate, the wine simply tastes better from the outdoor patio viewpoint. Walking in through the old iron arch, a garden-like stroll along a paved stone pathway sets the mood. There is a quaint vibe of yesterday's past inside the restaurant but even then no one comes here to sit indoor. Sunday brunch is a bit of a wait but everyone is willing and wanting to wait to relax here. Service is overwhelmed during lunch and it is evident they have seen their share of tourists. Everything we ate is remembered as enjoyable as we were told much of the green food is home grown at the restaurant's botanical garden. A beautiful Brunate brunch. read more

Incredible!! This was our first meal in Lake Como and it did not disappoint, such a great start to our trip. We came here on a Wednesday afternoon via the Funicolare and had no problem getting seated at an outdoor table. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The outdoor space is in the shade and provides the most outstanding views! We quickly received drinks and ordered an appetizer of beef ham with yellow plums and goat cheese - an amazing combination of flavors and so fresh and delicious! My entree was perch ravioli in a butter and sage sauce with pine nuts - bellissima!! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere for over two hours. We were a bit befuddled that the staff let us sit for so long without coming to check on us (this was one of our first meals and eventually we learned that this is just the Italian way). I would have loved to order a second round of drinks or try one of the desserts, but didn't get the chance. This ended up being one of my favorite meals of the trip. I highly recommend this spot to anyone coming to Lake Como, you won't regret it! read more

This restaurant is overlooking Lake Como. It is at the hilltop of Brunate. Very close to the funicular station. It is next to the church. The view is killing good. They have the inside and out side seating. The outside is cover by the growing vine. We started with Lake Como Sampler. It has different fish from the lake plus the local escargot. The assorted fishes are delicious. It is interesting to use the local paste and cheese. The escargot was delicious. Our entry is the lamb with rice and cream. The lamb is braise and fried with sesame seed. It is a wonderful regional dish. The second entree is the baked salmon. The salmon are very red and good quality. Both dishes are delicious with a view. The beer here is cheaper than water. The service is great. The waiter are very professional. read more

A great restaurant nestled in the hills of Brunate. We stumbled across this place on our way down from the hills of Brunate back to Como, and it was great. The views out of the window include Lake Como and the town of Como, and the food is imaginative and delicious! I had a blueberry and orange zest pasta which was savoury with a hint of tang. You could taste that the pasta was fresh. We also had the truffle gnocchi which was creamy and rich. They offer a refreshing wine selection which was lovely after a long walk uphill! With the service, the view, and the food, this place is great to visit! read more

I didn't have the pleasure of dining here as the kitchen was closed on our arrival as they made preparations for the holiday. But I was grateful to have been able to stay for drinks and snacks. The view alone is worth the 5 stars. An amazing view of comp city and Lake Como. Also an amazing view of the Swiss Alps!! This is a must visit for anyone who is visiting Lake Como in Italy. Come here for the views which are 10/10. The food was pretty good and surprisingly affordable for a hotel restaurant with spectacular lake views - but nothing that I would go back for. I had the duck ragu which was tasty. I love wide noodles and these were done perfectly. I was worried the duck would get lost in the red sauce but the flavor comes through great. It was a great pasta dish but there was nothing particularly memorable about the taste. My boyfriend got the venison with polenta. We both thought it was just okay considering that it was 17 euro while my pasta was only 10. I finish with some panna cotta which was good - again, nothing memorable except for the experience of eating it among the clouds. We had the pleasure of also staying at the hotel for two nights which was lovely. Breakfast in their patio area was fantastic every morning with lake views as well. Get the chocolate croissant if you're there for breakfast! read more

Views here are stunning, and the trip up by funicular was fun. Prices are reasonable given the location. However, service was lackluster and the food was hit or miss. The aranciata salad was essentially nothing but a giant haystack of food-processor-shredded carrots with a ring of orange slices deployed around the outside. Broccoli was overcooked and mushy. Roasted eggplant slices were tough and not very well browned. On the other hand, the tenderloin was perfectly prepared and bathed in a scrumptious demiglace. Drinks were generous and made properly. (I would have liked a second, but the server never returned to our table after the initial order.) My dining companion loved her fish. We had a reservation made through the restaurant's website, but we had the impression that the server didn't quite believe us and was simply humoring us to avoid a confrontation. We were initially seated at a cracked window and had to ask to be relocated. read more

We were sent here by the Albergo Terminus hotel and it was generally a good experience. The food is certainly better than it needs to be, given the view. Brunate's altitude provided a bit of relief from the July 2015 heat. My wife started with the appetizer of mixed lake fish, this was a bit disappointing - there was a chunk of what seemed to be perch with a pesto sauce, something like a fish pate, and a small whole fish without much meat. Her meal was redeemed by a superb blueberry pasta - it was blue, not quite sweet, and delicious. My primi was not memorable, but the tender, succulent roast goat secondi was superb, one of the best dishes I ate in nearly three weeks in Italy. Our waiter was generally good, but forgot to come back with my order for a second glass of wine. read more

The restaurant is appropriately named as the view is beautiful. I had the ravioli stuffed with cheese and covered with a cream sauce of sausage and black truffle. This is hands down the best meal of my 3 weeks in Italy. My husband had the local cheese plate which he enjoyed very much. It had 4 different cheeses plus honey and jams with a basket of bread. The drive up the mountain is very twisty, and fun. The views are amazing. Parking at the top is very limited. I suggest getting there before sunset for the best view; then snap a couple of pictures, get back in your car and find another place to eat. The decor was nice with an old world feel and "camp" feel in the inside. Service began good until the food started coming out. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella which tasted good but the machine sliced, see through tomatoes had no flavor. Moving onto the main plates; Venison and Pork Loin. The venison was very over cooked and served in a clumpy separated brown "wine" sauce. It seemed like it had been reheated a few times. The accompanying vegetables were cold and rubbery. The Pork was also machine sliced very thin, arranged around the outer edge of the plate. The pork is served cold with "hot" vegetables which cane from the same supply as the cold rubbery ones on the venison plate. The two stars are for the view. read more

First of all, the view is absolutely jaw dropping. What a perfect setting for a relaxed meal! The food itself was fantastic. I had the perch ravioli, along with an American coffee. Everything was fresh, delicious, and served quickly. I also tried a couple dishes that friends ordered: a thick homemade pasta with mushrooms, and a blueberry (yes, blueberry) pasta. I was very impressed by the unique flavor of each dish. The prices were also more than reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. I'd recommend taking the Funicolare to the top as well. Overall, dining at Bellavista was an incredible experience that I'd gladly suggest to anyone! Easy five-star rating in my book. read more

Ristorante Bellavista - We didn't have a reservation however we were placed on a window seat after a short wait. On the second day of our Como stay I knew I wanted to find a place with a view of the Lake and had good food. Ristorante Bellavista delivered with stars on both fronts. First; most of the people around us were Italian, a good sign. Our service was superb and the food stood out. We had the "Lake Como sampler" a seasonal assortment of fresh local fish, delicious, followed by the Perch Ravioli with butter and sage, frankly my all-time favorite ravioli. Completely unique. Although busy we never felt rushed and were able take our time to pull in the great view, drink our excellent regional wine and enjoy great food. We will be back. read more
