We had our anniversary dinner here tonight after reading about how delicious the food is and we certainly have no regrets. This restaurant is fantastic and the service was remarkable. Food: the plates are "shareables" and they recommend 2-3 per person, but we are big eaters and 2 plates for each of us would have been enough. But we went big and then went home stuffed. The Brussel sprouts and artisan boards were both good, and the gnocchi had too many hard pepper bites, but was still yummy. The real prizes are the 16 Oz steak, the meatballs and the scallops. I mean, wow. They were all delicious and we wouldn't change our order at all. Atmosphere: the restaurant and bar are trendy and cool. I think the tables are reasonably separated. The plates are unique and they have awesome chandeliers hanging throughout -- all different and unique. I was surprised at how loud the restaurant is, just because it's so expensive and part of such a nice hotel. It was definitely a trendy scene and not a quiet, intimate feel. Service: Perhaps the best we've ever had? Our server, Holly, had a few tables and even a rowdier party and was still speedy and made time to talk to us. She was wonderful and I would literally come back to this restaurant just to dine in her section again. She made us feel special on our celebratory outing! Made my favorites list!! I.d. has a great ambiance, excellent service, and amazing food! My fiancé and I went here for dinner after shopping in the quaint downtown of Delafield. We started with the milk bread with a goat cheese spread and fruit preserves which was SO good! Then we got the following small plates : chicken lettuce wraps, shrimp tacos, and salmon. The lettuce wraps were very tasty and the salmon was so flavorful! We also got the burger which is not a small plate but we split it and it was seriously one of the best burgers I've had! Lastly, we go the macadamia nut crunch bar which was also amazing! We had a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back and try all the other amazing things on the menu! read more

One of the best burgers I've ever had, and I've had a lot...it was their Double Cheezy Smash Burger and had 1/2 pound local beef blend, grand cru cheese, beer cheese fondue, sherry caramelized onions, shishito relish. It's billed as "fork and knife style" but had no problem eating it like a regular burger. My son and I split one as it was a tapas-style place that recommended multiple plates, plus we wanted to try some of their other fare. The other fare was good, pork belly tacos and an order of truffle fries; the truffle fries were actually very good and perfect amount split between two people. But I wish I'd ordered a full burger just for myself, maybe two, it was so good! It'll be hard to get me to try anything else here in the future, I may just go with that burger every time. read more

The host went back to ask the kitchen if they would make an exception. He was told no that the kitchen closed at 8:30pm. Why do they list their hours of operations through 9pm if they stop serving at 8:30? Did they mean they throw people out at 9? sitting and eating at the bar was not a provided option. nice host but why lists 9 pm when it's really 8:30? the restaurant was semi full so clearly they were not going anywhere anytime soon. very disappointed after our 20 minute drive to get there. read more

Have been here many times and it's a favorite for our special events. The menu has many options and the small plate concept engages conversation amongst the table. The drinks are amazing and unique and they also have a very nice wine selection. Introduced my wife to Chenin Blanc which is now her favorite white wine. It's a great date night destination or night out with neighbors/coworkers/friends/clients. Have hosted multiple team dinners (Christmas Party, etc.) here along with customer/partner happy hours. This was our fourth visit, and unfortunately we will not be returning. We made a reservation for an anniversary dinner on a Monday night at 6 pm, and were seated at a poor table right behind the host stand. We asked if we could move further into the almost-empty restaurant, and were told no! Then, our server could not possibly have rushed us more. The restaurant focuses on small plates, which a diner should be able to order leisurely. Instead, our server asked us to order more food three times in five minutes. After 20 minutes, we paid for our drinks and two appetizers (tasty) and left. I reached out privately to the restaurant online with these service concerns, and never even received a reply. I absolutely loved everything about this place. From the moment we walked in, the experience was divine. Posh, comfortable seating, beautiful lighting, interesting decor and feel, delicious food, and really great service throughout. I wanted to order everything on the menu, but we realized we had to decide on our dishes and we started off with charcuterie; all excellent, from the pickled eggs to the gin and juice sausage to the blue cheese. Then we got the kimchi pancakes, grilled octopus, basil gnocchi, and short rib with scallop. D. LISH. US. I loved the shareable plates as we were able to experience the food together. We decided to finish with the ribeye and risotto, with absolutely no regrets. The ribeye was stupendous. Risotto unfortunately was just ever so slightly undercooked, but was still very tasty. My favorites were the ribeye, octopus, and gnocchi. Everything was excellent and made for a very memorable experience. The drink menu was also very robust, with all kinds of cocktails, beers, and wines. I loved that they outfitted the tables with a slot underneath for menus. Such a great idea! I will definitely come back the next time we are visiting the area! Great for a casual dinner, also works for special events, and definitely a spot to show off to out of town guests. Wow! It had been a while since we ate at I.d. and we left wondering why! The food was outstanding, one of the best meals we have r we had in Lake Country! To top it off, service was excellent as well, Josh made sure we had everything we needed at all times, had a great table side manner, and the whole staff worked as a team. We had the skirt steak, birilla tacos, bacon chorizo flatbread, and the lobster pasta for entrees. Everything g was super fresh, high quality, and layered with flavor. For appetizers we had the fried deviled eggs, whipped feta, and our fav of the night, the truffle fries which were fried to perfection, crispy, covered with a sprinkle of Parm, and had just the right touch of truffle-we ate the entire enormous platter. Some of the best food & drink in Milwaukee! The restaurant serves small plates only, so it's a great place if you like trying a lot of different things. To drink, I loved the cocktail called Meet Me In The Garden. Very refreshing and light! I was with a very large group, so I was able to try most things on the menu. You absolutely must try the truffle fries - they were easily my favorite item, even though all the food was amazing! Other favorites of mine were the smash burger, brussel sprouts, and macadamia nut crunch bar for dessert. I cannot wait to go back for another meal! read more

A warm and cozy yet eclectic look the menu is varied and not a lot for vegetarians but always something to find . The bar staff ( Di ) was very friendly. We made a reservation but opted to sit at the bar as it was pretty empty for our late night Sunday meal. We ordered a couple of vodka cocktails and started with the egg plant burrata and fjord trout appetizers... Unfortunately the egg plant dish was heavily fried and came with anchovies which I despise and unknowingly put in my mouth... it was indeed marked on the menu but never heard of anchovies with egg plant.. lesson learned read thoroughly!!! The trout / octopus dish was wonderful .. first two appetizers were not warm enough but we didn't bother to send them back.. We added flat bread so that I could get over the fish taste and we were able to add a couple of things on it to our liking... The peanut butter cheesecake was to die for and we don't normally order dessert... Drink prices are reasonable wine list was good yet not extensive... we highly recommend this beautiful and delectable establishment and we will certainly be back soon! read more

Don't go. Used to go to I.d. for every special occasion when they had a full menu of shareable plates - loved the bacon wrapped dates, foie gras, duck, and desserts made with lavender and other stuff I wouldn't find any other place around here. Moved to the West coast and first time back in WI in three years - it was disappointing. The menu is very small and not well executed - the pork loin was full of fat, the "double cheezy shareable plate" was just a burger plunked on a plate - maybe try sliders if you want shareable? The scallops tasted soapy and off putting. However, truffle fries were good, but really enjoyed the heirloom tomato salad. Burger was good but nothing I'd order again. The server was very nice and went to the hotel to grab a side of ranch for my daughters kids tenders. The manager offered to refire the pork loin, provide another burger or get our desserts, but we declined and he adjusted the bill. Both the server and manager were receptive and gracious about the experience. I can't imagine how tough it is for restaurants now so I hate writing negative reviews - just hope I.d. can bounce back. read more

I was worried that moving to Lake Country would mean date nights would be reduced to Noodles & Company and other strip mall eateries. I.d. proved me wrong! It is top notch tapas that easily competes with Milwaukee's best small plates. We decided to make I.d. our first date post-move and were absolutely not disappointed by the decision. The eclectic decor and variety of seating options really made the restaurant seem like the perfect place for just about any occasion. They have swanky bar seating for drinks and snacks, high and low top tables, as well as some cozy couches for the times we just need maximum comfort. We started the night with the Japanese milk bread. This was the lightest, fluffiest bread I've ever experienced. I'm a self-professed carb-queen and could have eaten 10 of these amazing mini-loaves of pure joy. Served with bourbon butter and huckleberry jam, it was a plate we will go back for again and again. Next, we enjoyed some of the truffle fries, grilled Caesar salad, and beet gnocci. My husband is a serious fry guy and was absolutely wowed by these perfectly crisp, well-seasoned, meaty fries, and creamy aiolie. The grilled salads were delightfully smokey and beautifully plated. The only thing I would have liked was a little more dressing to cut the char a bit. The beet gnocci, however, has ruined me on eating beets any other way. The combination of fondue sauce, mushrooms, roasted beets, and gnocci was straight up perfect. We rounded out the night with the Ribeye for two. It came with roasted potatoes and was dripping in a rich butter sauce. The meat was perfectly medium rare and every bite was mouth wateringly tender. I'm normally a bit of a steak purist and don't care for a lot of sauces or toppings on my meat, but this was extremely well done. The flavors of the butter complimented the beef and the potatoes perfectly. Along with dinner, my husband also enjoyed their sazerac. I had never had one previously, so I gave it a taste and that may be my new go-to drink. Wowza! It was served with a ball shaped ice cube and a speared luxardo cherry. Honestly, I never knew a glass of booze could taste so good. Our waitress and the serving staff was 100% on point. It wasn't a busy night when we visited, but it was clear that these people were seasoned pros. I.d. is definitely going down as a potential favorite in our new neighborhood! We just ate here for a company dinner. Looking over the menu before I arrived I was taken back at the prices. This place is a small plates and share establishment. For the prices I thought it would be impossible to share. However after taking bites of all of our first course all I wanted to do was share. We had a big group and probably tried 80% of the menu. Every single item I would get again. #1 item was the milk bread. Order it enjoy it and then dream about it like I did! The food was terrific. Each bite was flavorful and enjoyable. My wife and I were gifted a weekend stay at The Delafield Hotel for our anniversary and we have nothing but excellent things to stay about the restaurant, I.d., in the lobby of the hotel. By far the best food we have eaten in years (and I do the cooking at home). I couldn't believe how expertly crafted the cocktails were (My favorite is the Portofino Beach)! Our server, Luke, took excellent care of us and didn't miss a single step! The carrot cake was to die for (literally, because my wife is allergic to dairy and she still risked it!!!). Having been to and enjoyed Andrew's a few times over the years, I can tell you that this new place looks absolutely incredible. It has a clean, modern, trendy and more open feel to it, and everything about it looks stunning. You would think that a restaurant that has been open just a few weeks might have some inevitable "hiccups" to iron out, but I didn't notice a single one at i.d. Be aware going in that it's not your typical restaurant, and the style of service is a little different than what you might be used to. First and foremost, this is a small/shared plate kind of place. Also, as others mentioned, you won't always get your plates in order - some of them are simply more complicated to make and prepare, so be understanding of that. Lastly, they do ask (but not insist) that you try to place your order for multiple plates at once, but don't worry - you can always add more later if you want. Where some people might have an issue with the aforementioned details, I understood the reasoning behind it all, and had zero issue with it whatsoever. The service at i.d. is attentive and excellent. Your water will never be empty, and the waitstaff are very friendly and able to answer any questions you could possibly think of. Most importantly, the food here is phenomenal. Be aware it is a little pricey, but it's more than worth every penny. The herbs and vegetables are fresher than any I've had anywhere, and any dish you order with any sort of meat will - I guarantee - be the most flavorful, tender meat you've ever experienced. They even manage to make octopus (notoriously chewy and kind of rubbery) tender. That is an accomplishment in itself, and speaks to the talent and experience in the kitchen. The bottom line is that i.d. is a restaurant unlike any other. It's beyond all comparison, and the food is unique, creative and honestly the best I've had anywhere. Tucked in an absolutely charming lake village, I.D. sits in the historic Delafield Hotel. To begin the meal, a charcuterie of two meats and cheeses, names of which I wish I could remember; I was too mesmerized during the quick tour of the board. It was such a playful introduction with diverse flavors: salty, sweet, sour, crisp, buttery, nutty, etc. My mother and I's eating process slowed down, and we savored each combination by piecing intricate ingredients together. Once I licked up every crumb, the entrees were brought in a timely manner. The paella was rich and fresh with scallop, shrimp, octopus, and salmon mixed through tender rice, dotted with saffron aioli and topped with vibrant tomato slices and microgreens. My mother had the shrimp and grits, and she said it was the perfect amount to reach a level of buttery satiety: umami if you may. In addition, Kelly was the ideal server by attending with genuine kindness and warmth. Funfetti cake pops were a nice finish to pair with the check, which you'll have to prepare to be more than most's average outing. This place of farm-to-table cuisine is worth the splurge. read more
