This place was very cute. I took my niece here for her birthday. The tiramisu was really good, but the ravioli was missing the tomato sauce. The back of the menu has the story of the restaurant and also a statement that it's rude to complain about the meal... so I didn't say anything and just enjoyed what we got. read more

We came here because a friend recommended it and loved it, however, we were very disappointed. Easily one of the worst meals we had in Roma. Besides the initial eggplant and mozzarella we had in the beginning the rest of the food was average at best. I ordered the carbonara which had a funny smell and taste and left me sick to my stomach for several days following this meal. Like I said, my friend had a great experience so maybe we just went on the wrong day but I would suggest approaching with caution. read more

This was by far our best food experience in Rome. After 3 weeks in various parts of Italy we ate a lot. The service was superb. This is a family run restaurant as the mom of the chef explained. It was great for our party of six, including 3 kids under 6. Everyone was great with the kids. The host even brought out paper and color pencils. The food was great. We had the bruschetta, carbonara, lamb chops and the tiramisu. All very fresh but we didn't wait very long to eat. I would say if you want authentic food with great service go here. You will not be disappointed. As a side note, after dinner we went to see the colosseum. On the way back we walked by the restaurant again but across the street. I heard someone call out to us. This turned out to be our favorite dining experience in Rome- both food and service. We were a large group of 9 with ages ranging from 12-48. Charming restaurant in shadows of Colosseum. Service was friendly, accommodating AND helpful. Food was delicious. Example: my 13 year old's order of "plain pasta" was described as "too boring" followed by an offer to "let me help you find something really wow here in Rome". The house wine is 14 Euro for a bottle and is good. We had the buffalo mozzarella and it was good but it was a tiny portion for the price. The bread I would pass on. There are better things, (gelato) to use up your calorie count on. Pin receiving our entrees they were rather small, but this might be due to the lunch portion. The carbonara I had was good but the pasta was still crunchy and I had better at other places in Rome. The lamb my husband had needed salt. My mom enjoyed her ravioli, which had a touch of mint. The veggie we ordered, which I think was a steamed chard was delicious. My dad's seafood lasagna was "interesting" according to him, whatever that means. The service was good! read more

Very good and the the woman who appears to own the restaurant is very nice and very helpful with her suggestions. The lasagna was excellent though expectedly different from what we see in the States. I had a saddle of suckling pig and my wife a salad followed by a pasta that she really liked. The wine that the owner suggested was excellent. The prices are the best we've seen in Italy. When my family and I vacate, we have a rule: we never dine the same place twice. This is the first exception. The ambience at this small dining place is wonderful. You are greeted by smiles and a vibe oozing of family by the mama of the restaurant. First night we were seated in the roofed garden in the rain, which only made it a better experience! Second night in the main area with partially bricked walls. We felt like we were dining in acient Rome! Moving on to service we were not able to point a finger. Attentive staff who truely cared about our experience and a male waiter whom felt both professional and like he loved his job, we never were needing or waiting. Now, as the ambience and service is enough to dine at this place the food spoke for itself. First night we were treated with a homemade sourdough bread we paired with an (according to me and my dad) amazing balsamic vinegar. My parents chose the saltimbocca - they described it as a explosion of veal and sage in their mouth. Paired with a recommended portion of fried potatoes it was both filling and fulfilling. My brother ate a perfectly medium-rare lamb chop, and I had the main calamari. It was perfect. Second night we were greeted by cheek kisses and a "welcome back". We shared a plate of amazing deli meat and made sounds of delight with every bite. We tried the suckling pig - amazing quality! A veal roulade which made my mother smile of delight, and my tuna steak was so well cooked the angels at Basilica Sankt Peter sang! Both nights we were humming over the lemon sorbet and tiramisu. All in all, the best meal any of us have had on a vacation! For the staff - thank you so much for making our trip to Rome even more memorable! read more

3 stars for the food, 2 for the service. Went for lunch. There seemed to be some confusion about who our server was. Both the waitress and the host kept asking us if we needed anything and would take orders, but then neither one would deliver. I never got my second glass of wine (which I ordered from both), and never got bread. Took 20 minutes to get the check. My boyfriend and I got fried artichokes and buffalo mozzarella for appetizers. We were hoping for Jewish fried artichokes, so were very disappointed when we got tempura artichokes. They were a bit too greasy, but still pretty good. The cheese was great, pretty fool proof dish. For our main course we shared the rabbit ravioli. It was great, until we ran into bones. My boyfriend almost broke his tooth on one which was pretty big. Never got dessert since we weren't asked. With all the fantastic restaurants in Rome, I would recommend trying somewhere else first. read more

Based on prior Yelp reviews we decided to try this restaurant. My partner and I were seated at a table in the back and waited and waited. Anyone who travels to Europe knows this happens when servers don't work for tips, and the service can be bad. Fifteen minutes passed before the appearance of our waiter.The restaurant had 4 tables occupied, and was not busy at all. Our server finally appeared and took our drink/food order. Server was in his thirties with a beard and spoke very good English. Fifteen more minutes passed and we had to ask for our drinks. After a while longer, the food came out. Two of the dishes were incorrect though tasty, but not what we ordered. We know it was ordered correctly because the server spoke perfect English and the menu was both in Italian and English. The real problem was that the server was enamoured, and far more interested in chatting with the blond lady at the next table than taking care of his tables. At the end of the serviceless meal, he had the gall to make it clear that the "service was not included." Well, he was correct. There was no service. This restaurant was perfect for a late night dinner! As soon as we walked in the hostess greeted us and was very funny and friendly! The waitress we had gave us a great recommendation for a great wine everyone enjoyed! The dishes we got were all fantastic but really stood out was the pistachio crusted tuna. If you are EVER in Rome, do yourself a favor and have at least one (or all) meals here. Adriana, Andrea, Luca, and Simona provide absolutely wonderful and personal service! It seems that they enjoy their work and that pride and enjoyment is passed directly onto the plates by Marco the master in the kitchen! For starters, you must have the pecorino and also if in the season, the mozzarella di bufala e pomodoro. It simply tastes like what you imagine Rome should taste like! Then for main dish, I cannot recommend the Amatriciana more. The pasta, made in house, is absolutely the perfect consistency, and just enough of it so when you finish, you are sated, but not too full for the life-changing panna cotta and an espresso to top it all off; All the while making jokes and chatting with Adriana and the rest of the hosts, making dinner at I Clementini a Roman memory, and a destination to return to at every possible opportunity! read more

Fantastic! This is a great restaurant very near to the Coliseum where you will find some of the best food on offer in Rome! I Clementini was recommended to us as a great family-run restaurant, serving great fresh food and that was exactly what we got. Great service and good, affordable menu choices, as well as great specials were on offer. The buffalo mozzarella we had was easily the freshest I have ever eaten. We got charged 3 euros for bread and water that we never got initially and we were told that it is included the moment we sit down for dinner.
