Wow! Best meal in Italy so far! This restaurant is three blocks off the main tourist area by the Colosseum. We went for the Cacio Pepe - and it was to die for! The Caprese Salad was the cheese cloud of my dreams and changed my life. Clean toilette as well - a benefit to any outdoor meal comprising of multiple aperol spritz!

Oh come on how is this place being recommended?? The amatriciana was weak. Undercooked. Most of the rest of the food was too salty. I've had way better elsewhere. Never coming back here.

Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars We just happened to stumble across this little gem and it turned out to be one of our favorite places while visiting Rome! The restaurant is small and sits maybe a dozen people at most, so be sure to come early to snag a seat if you can. Our server was incredibly friendly and spoke English which helped us immensely as our Italian wasn't great. Their house made bread is rustic with a beautiful hard crust and soft middle with delicate air pockets laced throughout. It sopped up all sauces without falling apart or turning to mush too soon. The bruschetta was simple... A slice of their rustic bread, toasted. Topped with the freshest vine ripened tomatoes and a full body olive oil. This was a reminder that far too often, we try to complicate dishes in the States when all you really need are fresh high quality ingredients. My pasta was the star of the meal... The hand made pasta was cooked al dente and tossed in a warm tomato cream sauce with Roman-style braised chicken. It was such a comforting dish that made you feel whole. If you can, definitely try to find some time to stop by. You won't be disappointed!

Pork Belly with fresh green tomato sauce.

Delicious food. We had incredible fried cheese, apple, zucchini + flowers as well as artichoke for appetizers, various pasta dishes for our main, and the most incredible chocolate lava cake + tiramisu for dessert. The service was impeccable. The ambiance was great, there is a cute patio in the back where they can open the awning. Thank you for such a memorable last meal in beautiful Roma!

When In Rome! After a log walk around the Colosseum and surrounding sites we were famished and in need of good nourishment...i had been spying different places in Rome but it had been difficult as we were there on 12/24-12/27, so some places were not open...there are Roman traditions of feasting Christmas eve on prefixed menus, also a huge lunch out on Christmas day....alot of "corporates" is what we found and they were sufficient but I was on a foodie mission, i wanted local and neighborhood.... We found it, in a neighborhood south of the Colosseum about a 5 min walk...make a reservation this place seats about 35 tops and doesnt look like much entering but we were in for a treat. Service was excellent food on point...ambience is awesome small neighborhood feel... Food highlights Appetizer of octopus and the burrata with balsamic bacon and tomato Pasta - mind you real fresh made pasta Carbonara was the best i had, bolognese right with it and the ravioli with hazelnuts was sublime.... We desserted with limoncello, 7 shots as the server cheered with us on the house...and met with the chef on our way out as they close in the afternoon, what a way to end our dining in Rome. I do not give 5 star ratings often, but I Clementini had spectacular service - very entertaining - and deserves a high rating. The location is excellent for a post-dinner stole around the Colosseum. Atmosphere - nothing special. Small place, but don't let the store front look dissuade you. The small area in front almost made us keep walking because it looked like they could not fit a group of 5. But, we asked for a table and were taken into the back main dining area that had plenty of space. Food - very good. From the appetizers - zucchini flowers, bruschetta and mozzarella with bacon. All were excellent. First course - zucchini with mozzarella, tuna, ravioli, carbonara, and baked zucchini Parmesan. One of us had a secundi of pork fillet. All of the first course dishes were fabulous. The pork was a little over cooked. However, it sat on a bed of carrot purée that was nearly frothed into the consistency of whipped cream. It was very, very good. Dessert - homemade coffee ice cream, lemon tart and Millefeuille. All desserts were magnificent. Service - our server was amazing. Super friendly and made lots of suggestions. We spent a couple of hours working through our courses and had a wonderful time. I would have given 4 stars for the restaurant, bit our server put I Clementini over the top to a 5 star rating. Overall - HIGHLY recommend. Spend the time, relax and have a superb meal.

We came here after our original dining choice was closed due to the August 2 week holiday. The reviews looked to be positive on Yelp so we thought this would be a better meal than our not-so-good lunch earlier. My star count reveals this was not the case. We were sat in a back room that was open air to the roof which provided at least some circulation because there was no A/C. Our service was strange. She didn't come over for about 15 minutes after we sat down and when she did she said she'd be right back because she had 2 tables before us. Ok....so we can't even get drinks? She eventually came back and we ordered a bottle of wine. Once she delivered the wine we were ready to order but again, she said she had requests from tables before us that she needed to do before taking our order. Ok.....so she finally takes our order. I ordered the filet-medium and my husband the veal saltimbucca. She then asked why we didn't want any sides (which are extra), which I found to be odd. I thought maybe a caprese salad would be good to share so I ordered that for us as well. Food came all at once and was hard to fit on the small table. The caprese salad was not that good and needed a lot of balsamic, which I added. The tomatoes were rather mushy too. The veal was really tasty but way,way too salty for my liking. My husband enjoyed it though. The filet was cooked appropriately, however, it was unseasoned or not seasoned enough. I would have enjoyed some type of seasoning and perhaps even a sauce or glaze (balsamic reduction comes to mind). We never saw our server again until it was time for the check. I found prices to be high for what we received. Bottom line, I did not enjoy the meal here and I would not recommend dining here if you are in Rome.

We had a lovely Roman meal at this charming Osteria. We started our meal with a fried zucchini blossom stuffed with cheese and anchovy. It was lightly fried and gently stuffed. We also had the grilled octopus presented on a piece of grilled housemade bread and covered with a light Tomato sauce. Both were delicious! For our main courses we had a light tomato and pepper based pasta with chicken, a Carbonara-ish pasta with bacon and Parmesan cheese, and a delicious squid stuffed with spicy chicory. For dessert we enjoyed the beautiful lemon tart with meringue and the special cake with pastry cream and fresh fruit. The portion sizes were perfect, the food was carefully prepared and the service was excellent. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant!

My adult daughter and I stopped here by mistake, took a look at the yelp reviews am decided to give it a try. Every thing went down hill from there. Service was slow with large lag times between infrequent stops of the waiter. We finally got our water and a glass of wine and were eventually able to place our food order. My dish was mediocre at best, my daughters would have been fine except it had sat so long it was cold. We finally were able to get things wrapped up and out the door. Then came the final insult considering the tipping etiquette in Italy and much of Europe service is included in the cost if the meal. The manager followed us out to the door claiming she didn't want to embarrass us in front of the other guests. Asking if we knew it was "customary" to tip the service employees!!! All this on a public sidewalk in full view of passers by. We each have been to Rome several times and know tipping is not customary but discretionary for exceptational service, this behavior was totally uncalled for. Enjoy this place at you own risk. read more

My family and I are so happy we found I Clementini. The family that owns this place is wonderful and full hearted about life, the restaurant, and the food they serve. Don't be afraid to ask there suggestion or get a few added apps because the waitress (or the owners mother... Whom is the chef) recommends it. It will be delicious. Our waitress, was the mother of the owner who typically doesn't give her name so I will leave that to myself :) was a joy! Talking to us like family and just having a good time. Ok the food.. Well wine. We got the colle picchioni white wine (recommended) and it was light and slightly dry. Perfect. She even let me check out the wine fridge. For apps, we got all 3 bruschetta, one with olive oil, another with salt and another with lard. Yes lard. It tasted like Parma or bacon. The tomato bruschetta was my favorite, which also had sea salt on it. We also had the buffalo mozzarella with bacon and balsamic which paired perfectly well with the bruschetta. Entrees: 2 of us had the pasta with tomato bacon, olive oil and Parmesan cheese (red sauce). This was the best dish on the table! Al debate, and great flavor with a realistic portion. Another had the octopus bolognese, which came with a white sauce and pecorino cheese, he said this was great and it absolutely didn't skimp on octopus. Desserts: tiramisu and after 8. Both amazingly light and portioned to share. Let's just say I took my fair share of both :) After that rant, I could say so much more. But go for yourself, it's where the locals go and tucked away so it won't be overly packed. Oh and it's delicious and fun. What's not to love? read more

We came here after attempting to eat at Trattoria Luzzi (a line out the door for days) but Clementini is no runner up! On a Monday evening, about 8pm we were able to be seated immediately. We enjoyed the panzanella, and particularly loved the salted cod (so balanced in salt and acid, light after the carb load of Italy). Our server Jessica recommended it and that made all the difference. I only wish we had been able to have the fresh pasta (they were sold out of it, and only had dried spaghetti noodles). In any case, we were in and out and enjoyed great service. I recommend! read more

Got here right when it opened so we didn't need reservations. We started with the fried calamari and shrimp, which was perfectly crisp and lightly battered. My main was the speghetto al vongale (clams), which was phenomenal. And he had the spaghetti with sausage. Would definitely come back if we had more time! read more

Extremely abrasive service when politely asking to change the dish when the food came cold. When the warmed dishes were brought back to the table, the waiter slammed my mother's new dish onto the table in front of her. I have never had a waiter exhibit this behaviour and be so disrespectful to guests. The server was condescending and still charged for the cold dish that was replaced. read more

Our family of nine had Christmas lunch here and it was outstanding. The menu was a fixed price at 50 euro pp. We started with either a glass of wine, or a sparkling prosecco drink with aperol I believe. For antipasti a plate of fritto misto that included pecorino cheese, zucchini flower, cod and anchovy...so delicious! Primi was either tortellini en brodo or lasagna. The lasagna was with spinach and chicory, it was not tomato based which made it lighter, but the servings were huge. The tortellini were meat tortellini and so satisfying. Lamb was the main course and roasted perfectly. Dessert was a cherry creme filled sweet roll. Our server was so sweet and worked the room efficiently with her partner in crime coworker! My only complaint if you can even call it that is larger than needed portions. We were so happy with to have celebrated pranzo di Natale at I Clementini! read more

This place is solid 4 stars, meaning good food, great service. Do try the hot Octopus/cherry/pistachio salad, not only its presented beautifully but the flavors mesh together nicely. I tried the mint ravioli & it was good, but the octopus salad is a must. read more

Best dinner in Rome by far! From the beginning- our server was soo friendly and attentive, he took the time to explain the menu and give us recommendations, we truly felt he enjoys his job and even better was a Rome native! We got some bruschetta with olive oil and tomato- so good and fresh with homemade bread! We also got the pasta with Parmesan and pepper, which was amazing, and some fried calamari with shrimp! Some of the best I've had!! Overall, we truly felt the atmosphere and service was incredible. Coming from an American-Italian, i would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area. read more

This place is a little farther away from the Colloseum than many others, so you will walk by a lot of places with pictures of food on their menu boards and staff trying to talk you into a table before you reach this hidden gem. The food is simple but well prepared and the pastas are quite reasonably priced. The servers were both very hospitable and the small rooms were tastefully decorated. There were a few tables of tourists there, though it did not feel touristy but very local. all in all, one of the better meals I've eaten in Rome. read more

Since all the American tourists use Yelp and the Italians don't, I'll go ahead and write this in English. The food was okay, nothing super special. There are other restaurants with better food, but that ignores the fact that the owner and her son are very nice people, and it is super close the Colosseo. Good: Super close to the Colosseo, great for tourists Easy to find Very nice owner, speaks decent English Good prices (we kept it under 75E for 4 people) Gnocchi very light and tasty Bad: House wine is overly sweet No ambiance Ugly: Fried appetizers are greasy, not very tasty. Definitely the WORST place I've eaten at in all of Italy. HORRIBLE SERVICE and MEDIOCRE FOOD! We were tired and wanted to stay near our hotel, took reviews from yelp and tripadvisor and I was fooled. I should've seen the warning signs when I noticed that the server barely paid attention to the first guests seated. I'm not exaggerating. They completely forgot their water and even forgot to take their order before us. Their "outdoor" terrace is a bootleg room within open ceiling with only cement walls around. Really? When the locals (group of Italian men) began to smoke while we were having dinner, we asked to be move and the lady just said yes yes let me check and ignored us till we asked for the check. For the most part, it seemed like a teenage boy was running around doing most of the work while the woman was busy flirting with the Italian speaking guests or attending to her (what it seems) as her daughter, who was roaming the restaurant. (Baby daddy was around somewhere too- really strange) NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY AND TIME, we quickly ate and left. read more

Two stars for service, the food is not good. The calamari was weird and it tasted old. We also had the ravioli and the cheese had a bad aftertaste and smell. As well as the pasta my husband ordered. If you want a cheap meal and good service come here. If you want good quality food or if you are a foodie don't come here it's a waste of time and money. read more

5 star value, 4.5 star food, just short of perfection. Gets really crowded, not touristy. If you can resist the numerous Medusas baiting you as you walk east of the Coliseum, you will be rewarded. appetizers: mozzarella bufala (replaced with parma ham). Deliciously and beautifully prepared. il Nostro pulpo, octopus, was bursting with flavor of pistachio and dried tomatoes. mezza rigatone amatriciana, a bacon and cheese pasta. It was good but not great. For mains we had veal cheeks (guancia di vitella). A little tougher than expected; otherwise excellent. Tuna (tranci di tonno). Splendid. 5 stars, seared absolutely perfectly. Any preparation is great, I loved the pistachio version. Salt cod (baccala mantecato). Like a potato mousse, was surprising. But good! Definitely recommend. read more

This was my favorite meal in Rome thus far. We almost passed by this place twice. Very unassuming from the street, but a nice little outdoor space in the back. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive. We had the fried mix of seafood to start. For dinner we had the lamb chops and Veal saltimbocca. I hardly ever eat veal but I very much enjoyed it. Finished the night with the mango cheesecake. Not a typical cheesecake, but we liked it very much. I recommend this place very much! read more

Place was recommended by our AirBnB host as "family friendly" and just 4 blocks away. We brought our 1 year old and sat down in their open courtyard patio, where they provided a high chair. Waiter was very through in describing all the drinks and dishes in very good English. We had some apricot and sparkling wine drinks to start and the fried cheese combo app. Wife got ravioli and I got the calamari and pea purée. During dinner our little one got fussy and the wait staff all took turns trying to entertain him, it was pretty awesome. We got the cheapest bottle of white (half of which I had to chug so we could avoid an epic toddler meltdown) for 12€ and it was really nice. The waiter asked for a tip, but he deserved it. read more

Fantastic experience! The seafood dishes were especially delicious, but truly everything we ordered, from the pasta to the steak was perfection. The staff was very accommodating for our lack of Italian, and the owner was hilarious. The experience was one if the best we had while in Rome. Wow such a cute casual place. The house red is great and very affordable. We had the lasagna and gnocchi in a tomato mozzarella sauce and I can tell you they both were the best we have had on our 2 week trip in Italy. This is our last night so we just wanted to kick back and enjoy. This wonderful place delivered!! read more

This was probably the best food experience I've had in Italy so far. The food was amazing, served with love. Everything is homemade. The owner is the sweetest person, she kept everyone entertained and made this experience even more enjoyable. Make sure you try their lamb chops and tiramisu. If I ever come back to Rome, this place will be the first one on my list! read more

I cannot even tell you what all we ordered, except the one obvious thing I photographed, which was calamari (which was totally amazing by the way). I think my husband had a steak and I think I may have had a ravioli dish, either way though, I imagine everything on the menu is delicious! I wish there was a way to duplicate this restaurant and put it in San Diego because I loved it. Our waiter was adorable, so sweet and offered great service. It was a convenient walk from our hotel, however, if you are visiting the colosseum, it is just a few blocks! read more

My wife and I have gone to Rome and Naples. We picked i Clementini from other reviews. This food was unbelievable. Our waiter (I believe his name was Andreo) was amazing...he said it was his first night there but I hardly believe him - he took such great care of us! He knew every bottle of wine on the menu and made great food and wine suggestions for us. I had the eggplant Parmesan which was AMAZING!! Easily the best I have ever had. He also recommended a pasta with pecorino & pepper which was delicious. I HIGHLY recommend visiting i Clementini if you have the chance in Rome! read more

My absolute favorite place in Rome. I've been to Rome three times in the past two years and I've eaten here at least 6 times. Prices are great, the food is amazing. The staff is almost like family. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and anyone who is looking for amazing Italian food. Do not leave Rome without coming here!!! read more

My family and I went to this restaurant on our last night in Rome. We had actually went there two days before and enjoyed our food so because it is near where we are staying, we returned. What a mistake. Two of our pasta dishes arrived completely cold. When we notified another waiter (not ours) he said they will bring us new dishes. My daughter asked kindly if it is possible to switch her carbonara to another kind as she did not enjoy the taste of it along with it being cold. waiter said "one moment" and walked away. A couple minutes later the other waiter Gianluca arrived with our warmed up dishes. When we told him we had asked the other waiter if it was possible to switch one dish for another he became abrupt, harshly placed the dish down and took away the other. He then came back, laughed, and said "you can now wait 40 mins" (mind you we were one of three parties at the restaurant.) Never have we been treated so poorly at a restaurant do to the mistake of a waiter. Gianluca was extremely rude, laughed at us, and thought giving us a free dessert after the fact when we notified him how upset she was would make up for the already terrible experience. Was rather disappointed with my experience here. If you are in town for several days and want something different by all means try it. The food was ok but below average for the quality of food in the neighborhood. The service experience blew my mind because it wasn't that good and I was confronted by a service staff member about not leaving additional tip as I was leaving!!! It may be common place for Americans to tip because wait staff wage in the USA rarely exceeds $3 per hour before tips. This is not the same in Europe and insulting for staff to act otherwise and expect foreigners to tip above the tab for marginal service and food. read more

Sure! Here's a concise and honest Yelp review: I had high hopes for Giulia&Sisto Roma Terrazza San Clemente, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The service felt standoffish and unwelcoming, which put a damper on the experience. The food was underwhelming--nothing particularly memorable or impressive. Given the location, I expected a much better dining experience. Wouldn't go out of my way to return. 2/5 stars read more
