While in Brussels for a conference, we were looking for a hotel that was centrally located and unique, and we found just that in Hôtel Indigo. It's kind of hidden but stands adjacent to the city center/Rogier Square and the metro station right there, and most of what we wanted to see or where we had to be was no more than a 20-minute walk; if we didn't want to walk or for the things a little farther out, the metro was easy to use and Uber was easy to tap into on the hotel's wi-fi.
After the minor difficulty finding the hotel (well, difficulty by our Uber driver from the airport), we walked into a wonderful environment; the hotel is very green and has that eco-friendly vibe, which we loved. The greenery in the front and throughout the hotel gives it a unique identity and a great vibe. We loved it. That's in addition to the water stations throughout the hotel where you can dispense still or sparkling water whenever needed.
Many have said the rooms are small, and I can see that. We were upgraded upon arrival as IHG Diamond members, and even our room - which was the second largest room in the hotel - was a bit small. However, that is not uncommon for European hotel rooms. The only issue we had in our rooms is that ours wasn't really cleaned. It wasn't filthy, but you could tell there was barely a clean in between our stay and the people before us. That shouldn't be the case, even if service is limited during your actual stay.
Otherwise, our stay was great. The breakfast was fantastic, and customer service was great, though rarely needed. Even more so, as an added touch, the sauna and gym area were superb - a really nice addition, particularly considering it was cold while we were there. Don't see many saunas in hotels, so I'll take it.
We'd definitely stay again if we found ourselves back on this side of the world in Brussels, and it would be a solid 5 stars if it were cleaner in the rooms. read more
