The positives first: room was spacious, temperature control worked, the bed was very comfortable.
Now the downsides: the upgraded room overlooked Rogier. I knew that and by itself, that was not a big issue in terms of noise. What was a huge noise issue, however, were the constant streams of emergency vehicles all day and night long blaring their sirens since that cross street likely is the main route for emergency vehicles to get across Brussel, since down by Centraal or Midi would be too narrow and slow. It was really hard to get any sort of peace and quiet, and I suspect that would have been true, albeit maybe to a lesser degree, on other faces of the building.
I used to stay here years ago when it was the Hilton. The facilities are dated, since it's an older building and while they are renovating, for now it still is dated.
When I tried to call for a wake up call, there were never any answers so I just relied on my phone, which was fine.
Overall, it was ok but not as good as it could have been, mainly due to the noise issues. read more
