This hotel is amazing and absolutely is a 5-star hotel. They did a complete renovation in 2017 so everything's been freshened up but you still get that classic Parisian feel. We stayed here for one night becuase #treatyoself and it was totally worth it. We booked via Fine Hotels & Resorts through the American Express Platinum Card so we got early check-in at 12pm, late check-out at 4pm, upgraded room, and 85 euros to spend. I believe the hotel was offering the same deal at the time booking via their website.
Our flight from Chicago got in at 10am, and with baggage claim and traffic we got to the hotel right about noon, so early check-in was much appreciated. The check-in area is in a fancy private room, so you feel VIP immediately. They take your bags and by the time you're done with check-in and go up to your room your bags arrive. You're given your own personal butler during your stay so you have someone to call directly if needed. They offer to unpack your bags for you, which I suppose is a nice service but I don't like people touching my stuff so no thanks.
I had previously emailed the hotel to put in a special request since it was my friend's birthday, and they promised a special surprise in the room. We were not disappointed and were greeted with balloons, flowers, oranges, a bottle of Bollinger champagne, and a delicious cake made in-house (omg was that cake amazing).
The room is amazing of course. We had three huge door/windows that opened up, as is typical of the Haussman style buildings. The bathroom is super luxurious with both a huge shower and tub. There's a tv inset the bathroom mirror. And the toiletries are Parisian and of course super cute. The bed is the most delicious bed I've every encountered and we were tempted after an 8 hour redeye to just crawl in and never come out. (We didn't) But later that night when we got to appreciate the bed I cursed myself for only booking one night there. I've never slept on a cloud before because science, but I imagine sleeping on this bed would be exactly what sleeping on a proverbial cloud would be like.
We used our 85 euro credit ($100 USD) for afternoon tea, which was very expensive but very lovely (I think it was 60 per person). The room that it's in is gorgeous and the food was top notch. There were finger sandwiches (lox & dill and a foie gras) and scones as is typical, but the standout was this crispy chicken roll that was either deep-fried or crusted in something deep fried, but it was so delicately crispy and super delicious.
The bar area is beautiful, so definitely check it out. They sometimes have a piano player singing songs. Cocktails are insanely priced at 24 euros a pop (about $30USD), but very fancy.
Finally, the pool. Oh the pool. We were planning on taking advantage of our 24 hours at the hotel you see, so we specifically packed our swimsuits to use this pool. We were the only ones there and it is so serene and beautifully designed.
My only gripe is that at turndown service our room smelled of cigarette smoke. I mean, yes everyone in Paris smokes, but ew. We were gonna complain but were way to tired to move so we made lemons out of lemonade and just opened our windows to let in the evening Parisian air and enjoyed our bottle of champagne. read more
