Hôtel Plaza Athénée sits almost inconspicuously on Avenue Montaigne, but its filled with wonderful customer service, relaxing amenities, and around 8 or so eating establishments from breakfast to tea time to dinner, including the Michelin-starred Restaurant Jean Imbert. This review is on my experience at La Galerie, which is a hallway filled with couches and seats transformed into a spot that serves food throughout the day as well holds tea-time and cocktail hour. Even though this was a more casual, relaxed spot compared to the hotel's other restaurants, a reservation is needed. We had been in the spa just across the hall and I made a reservation online just on a whim, and it ended up being the reason why we were able to get a table right away. Due to the high volume of reservations, they were already barring walk-ins from opening dinner time at 7pm. For what I thought was going to be a causal dining experience with a "smart casual" dress code listed, I was surprised with how all-out the staff went to maintain the French dining experience. Though we were in comfy lounge chairs and this restaurant was set up in a big hallway, there were specific waiters for setting down utensils, food, and other parts of the dining set-up. The maitre d' continued to accompany us, and there was even someone who would stand and explain what we ordered. My mom and I decided to split just two items, but with the bread, bar snacks, and desserts they gave we ended up extremely full. *French Onion Soup: A french classic, this soup had large pieces of bread and a lot of cheese which I liked. The broth is thin but flavorful, and I appreciate that someone came by and split the soup into two for my mom and I to each have our own. *Cheese Burger: I like a good burger and I thought the meat was well-seasoned and the cheese was good. There weren't any lettuce or tomatoes, and they had cut this into four pieces so it was like an "appetizer"-style burger. The buns were good but in a plain cheeseburger, did make it feel a little dry upon eating texture-wise. *Bar snacks: They provided green olives and almonds for munching, with an added bowl for the olive pits. This also added to why I thought this would be a more casual dinner, but with how above and beyond the service went, was like a "fancy-casual" experience which was a nice surprise. *Bread: I love when restaurants give complimentary bread and this spot had two types: a classic mini baguette and a white bread that had twisted pointy ends. There were two butters, one in a triangle and one in a square, but my mom and I genuinely thought they were the same butters (both non-salted) and just in different shapes. *Chocolate bonbons: As we were wrapping up, we were given a plate of chocolates to end on a sweet note. It was an unexpected but delightful dessert. Half of them were a dark chocolate crisp, and the other half was milk chocolate with some added crunch. It was a last-minute decision to stop here and I'm glad we did. It feels like a casual spot, and I suppose it is compared to the other restaurants they have here, but the service is still more than casual with how much the waiters do. read more

~ Dior Spa Review ~ After a long day of walking and shopping on the streets of Paris, who couldn't use with a little bit of pampering. With my agenda set, "A Day with Dior", I booked a massage at the Plaza Athénée, following an afternoon of lunch and shopping at the Christian Dior HQ across the street. After my decent downstairs to the spa two ladies greeted me by name before I could get a word in. They offered to store my shopping bags then escorted me to my masseuse. The massage room is elegant, modern, and beautiful without even trying. Simple elements from the Dior home collection is what makes this room special. Dare I say, I need one of those blankets in my life! It was sooo soft. There is a shower inside the room for you to rinse before settling in on the massage table. I can't get the rose out of my mind. When you are faced down, instead of closing your eyes or staring at the floor, or shoes of your measuse, your eyes can rest easy on a frosted glass rose. These are the kind of detail elements that separate the okay places from the exceptional. The massage was great, never long enough. Whatever body oil they use, surely Dior, it was not overly fragranced and lightweight. My masseuse had very soft hands and did a great job of application. All in a very good massage. Afterwords I was taken to the lounge area for tea and treats. I took my time flipping through one of the couture books and enjoying my moment wrapped up in Dior. It's just hard to reconcile w/ my long storied history here. I have visited yearly for the last 30 years. Many fine people still work her. Old friends. Sadly, I must admit it's not what it was regardless of who owns it. The quality and the service HAS dipped. The lobby resturant (Le Galerie) was awful during a recent visit. Something unheard of until recently. And Jean Imbert (their newest eatery) is mediocre for dinner. Haute couture my granny's fanny! However, the breakfast at Jean Imbert was not of this Earth as it was just so sublime. Truffled eggs and French Toast. Breathtaking. Want to go first class? As many other reviewers have stated, service at this location is excellent. We recently flew into Paris and stayed one night as we were traveling to Bordeaux in the morning. We got to the hotel a little earlier than expected to due to our flight coming in early. Unfortunately the room wasnt ready but the staff allowed us to clean up at the Spa due to an appointment we had a Dior. When your only in Paris for the day, we obviously had to maximize our time. The room was nice and comfortable, everything you would expect from this establishment. I know the place is quite expensive but when compared to other locations it does live up to its brand. read more

If you could imagine a spa / resort without formally checking in to the Dior spa this is what Plaza Athenee is. A true oasis. Dior spa review The Dior Spa at Plaza Athenee is a must to do if you travel to Paris. They have the best professional masseur. They have very good customer service who tries to accommodate your request from the booking moment until you leave the spa. The spa itself is a next level although I tried Dior spa at Du cap hotel but this one is far better. You will leave them relaxed and pain free as well as happy as everyone is so pleasant there. Can't wait to be back in Paris and try them one more time. read more

Great palace hotel - owned by the Sulton of Brunei and managed by the Dorchester group of luxe hotels. My stay was a impeccable, had a corner deluxe king room , overlooking the courtyard and cafe below. Loved the songbirds and red geraniums, on the balcony's. And of course the stylish red awnings. It's a gorgeous hotel inside & out. On Ave Montaigne with Harry Winston on one side and Chanel for the ladies on the other. Plus all the other designer shops Terry Muglar. YSL etc etc Really good cafe on the corner, and fun ppl watching on this famous and stylish street. Rooms are all individually decorated, no 2 alike. My bar looked like a old steamer trunk and had a nice assortment of Champagne / liquor and sweets/sundries. Cant wait for my next stay - fabulous hotel and location. Built in 1913, the Hôtel Plaza Athénée is a historical hotel that has kept up with the times while still retaining its classic charm. The exterior is a subtly grand building that would blend with its upscale surrounding were it not for the vibrant red geraniums and awnings over the windows. Inside is luxury at its most elegant. Upon your feet reaching the doorsteps, an attendant warmly welcomes and greets you regardless of the time of day. Proceed inside the lovely little lobby. The front office is to the left, and the seating area is to the right. Beyond that will take to you the guestrooms or the dining options. More warm greetings awaits every time come across a staff member in passing. Walk the regal staircase or take the small elevator to the guest rooms. The guest rooms are bright and inviting, and each night's sleep was refreshing thanks to the comfortable bed and luxurious linens. The dining options are plentiful between the bar, lobby tearoom, terrace, room service, and the Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée restaurant. The food is aesthetically pleasing and delectable between all options from casual to fine dining, and I enjoyed most the pampering room service experience, especially the beautiful and plentiful bread basket. My stay was simply perfect. The attention to details and service level are impeccable. The hotel is such a relaxing place to be at that there were times I felt tempted to not go outside. However, it is so close to the Eiffel Tower and a number of other attractions that it would have been a shame to not go out to explore and enjoy the city. Luckily, my room did not have a view of the Eiffel Tower and had a view of the courtyard instead so I had to get out to see the Eiffel Tower for myself. Thanks to the extremely helpful and knowledgeable concierge team, I made the most of my trip and enjoyed Paris and the hotel all I could. With the luxurious accommodations, amenities - the Dior Institut and fitness center that I regretfully did not get to visit, top notch service, and wonderful staff, the Hôtel Plaza Athénée is everything you expect a five-star luxury hotel to be. read more

A beautiful hotel in a city full of beautiful hotels. When you arrive, the first thing you see is the face of the building with rows of red canopy's covering the windows, each with flower boxes underneath. It is just lovely. I would have liked to spend more time in the bar. We did eat there and have cocktails, but the hallway it is in is narrow and very smoky. So it just didn't end up being a place you wanted to chill. We ended up walking to the George V most days and enjoying the lovely high tea. I wasn't a fan of the food in the bar. It was overpriced, which is fine because you are in Paris and ready for that, but it was small and uneventful, unappetizing. The rooms are larger than most I have stayed in in Paris. The bathroom is especially nice. The service is impeccable. I became ill while we stayed there and the staff sent a doctor to our room immediately. I was grateful for the speed with which they responded. Funny thing, though, the hotel is not one of my favorites. It deserves five stars because it is an extraordinary place, one of the best in the world. But each time we return to Paris, I am not drawn to stay there again. read more

My review is for the afternoon tea served in the La Galerie des Gobelins. On te second day of our honeymoon, we met up with some long-time French friends whom I had not seen in 10 years. Our group of 6 enjoyed afternoon tea in the hotel. We were promptly seated and served by and friendly server who spoke both French and English. The stunning and glamorous surrounding made it difficult for me to concentrate on the menu. The grandeur of the hotel is like something out of a story book. Once I was able to focus I chose my tea and awaited eagerly. We did not order for ourselves, we left that us to our French experts. Over the course of an hour we tasted dozens of little confectionery treasures. Each displayed delicately yet proud on its plate. Boasting a rainbow of colors each bite looked like a jewel to me. Once we had all finished, licked our fingers and glanced around, we knew we had just practically inhaled the desserts. After finishing the tea (or hot chocolate for others), we were on our merry way. Oh how I wish afternoon tea was something that was practiced in the US more. Its such a lovely little pick-me-up in the afternoon. Overall, we were so impressed and had such a wonderful time. Traveled from the 15th to see what my travel guide spoke so highly of...a Glowing bar! 3 trains later found that we couldn't get in because its private on fri/sat nights for hotel guests only. Ugh! The cool maitre'd provided option to sit in beautiful lounge just outside the bar. We could hear the music and watch the beautiful people enter the bar. It was our very own fashion show. We made the best of it. Staff was friendly and attentive. Cosmopolitans were 26 euros a piece (approx 34 USD)-WTH!. Not for the everyman. Theme of hotel is: I'm rich. Beautiful decor, classy, and very fancy. It was a nice place to see and worth the visit but for drinks? keep it moving to another neighborhood unless you're rolling with Kanye. This review is for the restaurant in the courtyard of the hotel, and I must say it was a hell of a restaurant. Firstly, the service is fantastic and the staff are very attentive and friendly. The environment was so serene, sitting in the middle of a beautifully decorated courtyard walled off from the city. We tried a couple different red and white wines to go with our lamb and fish, and it was so refreshing and decadent. I thought the lamb chops were the best I've had in quite a while, and I cannot say enough good things about it. My only regret was ordering the pot of steamed vegetables... I believe it was a seasonally-dependent item and I simply did not enjoy the assortment and the way they tasted. The hotel is beautiful, and I would strongly recommend anyone who visits the area to consider checking out the restaurant. It's a lovely dining experience, and one I won't soon forget. read more

My first time to Paris, I stayed here with a baby and 2 adults. I book for the top suite looking out to the Eiffle Tower. It is a beautiful hotel no other words can describe. They have smaller rooms that are quite cozy but the windows are blocked off because it is in alley way so there won't be any sunlight. Customer service is the best here. They have connections with all the top restaurants and amusement that you want to go. They will make reservations for you and even plan out your entire stay if you tell them. Since it was our first time in Paris we didn't know what to do or where to eat, we let them book our reservations. Our driver was quite impress that we got to go to the top notch restaurants that required 6month-1yr for reservations. They did that for us in just few days. They were very accommodating to kids and babies. They have cribs, toys, high chairs and small pillows that you can request to be in your room. Yes, they have butlers too! The best reservation they made for us was at Champagne. We did wine tasting and did a tour in their wine cellar. They even provide us an interpreter. I recommend you to stay here or hotel similar to this one if you have the money to spend freely because they will be able to get you into the best places. read more

We stayed here while visiting Paris on my 30th birthday. They went above and beyond to be sure that it was the best birthday of my life! And it certainly was. They even left me a birthday treat when they turned down our bed the day of. The food and restaurants within the hotel are incredible. Try them both! The views of the Eiffel Tower (if you get a tower view room) are absolutely breathtaking, I actually cried when I stepped onto our balcony! The beds are so incredibly comfortable. We slept perfectly while there. The shopping all along the street is divine...Louis Vuitton, Chanel (x3), Dior, Celine...the gang is all there! Speaking of Dior, inside the hotel is the Dior spa...do yourself a favor...GO! This world famous spa has everything from massages to super relaxing facials. Elegant, classy, perfection on every level. The staff are hands down the most courteous, respectful, and I have to add beautiful. This hotel sits right across the street from Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, and more so this should tell you that the area is very upscale. I am hesitant to mention that money was stolen from my room only because they investigated and returned my money. It's unfortunate, but does happen everywhere. They were extremely professional about the situation and handle it in a timely manner. If money is not tight, stay here! read more

We stayed at the Hotel Plaza Athenee and received the most amazing service, everyone we met spoke English and were not in the least bit offended by our attempts at speaking poor French. Although Alain Ducasse's restaurant was closed for the holiday, it was open for breakfast and my eggs were the best I have ever eaten. Yes, eggs. The boutique hotel is fantastic and will be the only place we stay in our future visits to Paris. The location could not have been better - in the heart of the Golden triangle.
