Bonjour! Back in June 2024, my friends and I ventured to Paris and settled into Montmartre at Hotel Lepic, a cozy spot with a twin and full bed in our room, perfect for our trio. The bathroom, albeit with an unconventional shower shape, posed no issue. Two occupied the main bedroom with the full bed, while one slept in the twin bed in an adjacent room. Navigating the stairs to our second-floor room was a breeze.
Opting out of the hotel breakfast, we favored the nearby bakeries for their freshly baked croissants, pain au chocolat, and morning beverages--coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Over our four-day stay, we delved into the area's rich artistic history and iconic landmarks.
Montmartre is steeped in artistic heritage, once a haven for painters like Picasso and Van Gogh. Its bohemian allure persists through cobblestone streets and quaint cafes, evoking nostalgia for its vibrant past.
Notably, Montmartre boasts windmills that once dotted its landscape. These historic mills were crucial for grinding flour and have since become symbolic of the neighborhood's rustic charm and agricultural roots.
A highlight of our visit was the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, perched atop Montmartre's hill. Its striking white-domed architecture and sweeping views of Paris make it an unforgettable landmark. It was a long and tiring walk up tho.
Montmartre's culinary offerings were equally delightful, with local bakeries serving up heavenly baguettes--perfect for a picnic on the steps near Sacré-Cœur or along the charming streets.
Montmartre's allure extends to its historical connections, including Napoleon Bonaparte's occupation of the area during his military campaigns. His strategic use of Montmartre played a significant role in shaping its history and contributing to its enduring legacy.
Staying in Montmartre at Hotel Lepic allowed us to savor the essence of Parisian life, from its artistic heritage to its culinary delights, making our visit an unforgettable blend of history, culture, and gastronomy.
Au revoir! Nous espérons revenir bientôt! read more
