Good quality, inexpensive Indian food We visited Hylan Curry & Grill buffet for a family lunch in June 2025. While the dish selection was limited, everything we tried was excellent - tasty, flavorful, and hearty. I just wish they didn't use tilapia in their fish dishes. While it's the cheapest fish on the market, it's also the lowest quality one, often imported from questionable sources. Surprisingly, the lassi was quite bad - sour and diluted, likely made with the wrong yogurt. This should be an easy to fix. We make lassi at home, it's very simple, no rocket science. I'm looking forward to visiting this place again for a non-buffet meal and trying their Nepalese dishes. read more

It's been months and I still think about how good this restaurant was. I went on a weekend for their buffet option. For $19.95 they offer amazing Indian food. Great variety for appetizers, meats and sides. Meat options included chicken, fish, goat and vegetarian options. Everything was so delicious. They offer naan as well, but I was too full from all the delicious food from the buffet options. The staff was so nice to let us take the leftover naan home. I started physical therapy recently & that's how I ended up finding this place near by. I liked their food so much I ended up going there twice already. First I tried their chicken lunch thali, lemon drink, food was yum. Then the next day I tried the Nepali appetizer called ' Drums of Heaven' they were sooo good. And the Hot & Sour soup was delicious. I also like the papar they give you with 3 different kind of chutneys. I loved the mango chutney. Customer service was great both times . As a halal restaurant I wish they didn't serve alcohol. So I can say this Restaurant is 100% halal accomplishment! read more

We ordered for the first time and were so excited! I got the mango lassi, chicken biryani, and chicken tikka masala. The food was delicious, flavorful, not overly spicy. We did order online and the store had someone delivering the food but it did take a very long time. We had to call to check on the status of our order but the staff working there didn't really give us an estimate. read more

Came with a friend who is very familiar with Indian cuisine. If you don't ask for papadum (flat crackers) they don't give it. The 3 sauces that are for dipping are in squeggie bottles and that got me a little grossed out. Bread basket was a variety of onion potato and another type. Samosas (vegetable) were delicious I had palak paner which was very good. Nice portion Friend got tandoori chicken but she thought it was wierd that the sauce was separate and said it's usually on the chicken already. Desert were these Indian honey balls which are supposed to be topped with crushed nuts which weren't on there. My friend asked for the nuts so they brought out a tiny plate with a few nut pieces Besides an Indian family sitting and eating the place was empty for the duration of our stay. They have the absolute Best Indian food (with an extra mix of other exotic influences) on Staten Island! The food is always fresh, the Tandori breasts and drumsticks are never dried-out like other places but perfect, their shrimp dishes and Kormas and butter chicken are all perfection and plentifully! This place is the best Indian restaurant in Staten Island. The prices are so cheap for the amazing food that they serve. The quality and quantity of the food that you will get here is amazing! I have been getting my Indian Food from Hylan Curry when they were a small take out years ago. Finally got to stop at their restaurant and all I can say is WOW!!! The food is so tasty, fresh and delicious! We enjoyed the Honey Crispy Chicken and Vegetable Samosas to start. The Samosa are excellent! As for the Honey Crispy Chicken, I would put that sh&! On everything if I could! That also goes for the ChickenTikka Masala. First let me say that the bowl they give you is full of chicken!!! This is my second time here and I'm coming back in a few days with another friend. So far I've tried the bread with nuts and raisins, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, shrimp korma, extra spicy lamb vindaloo. I can't say enough great things about the food so far! And the menu is huge so this time I kept the menu with me to read everything else they serve. I'm looking forward to coming back because prices are very reasonable. Service is excellent. Now the ambiance---not so much! The place really needs to be more warm and inviting looking. The lighting is cold looking, and the air temperature in the restaurant made my food get cold fast. I really enjoyed eating here. The prices are fair, the quantity is decent and the staff is really nice. It's everything you can ask for in an Indian restaurant. The mango Lassi was okay at best, but they give a generous amount. I really enjoyed the lamb tikka masala and the Aloo pad chat. If you are looking for solid Indian food, then this is the place for you. The food quality was great and it's worth going to. read more

So we've ordered from Indian Express and we very much enjoyed it. To the newer establishment, I will say that the interior is basic but it works. Their food was delicious. We ordered a garlic shrimp appetizer which was ok. Not expecting that they were fried and a bit overpriced but we got passed it. The garlic nann was a winner along with the butter chicken. We also ordered a vegan dish of cauliflower, potato and spinach. It was good but too much potato. We really enjoyed it and can't wait to try their Sunday lunch special read more

I feel very conflicted about giving this review because of the three stars. The food was very filling and delicious- I had a chicken dish and rice. The reason for the 3 stars is below: The mint chutney we were given tasted a little off. I asked my friend to try it since he's had more experience with Indian food. He tried it and agreed with me- interestingly, when he was stirring it, the chutney was bubbling up. I called the server over and said that it tasted bad and that they should check on the batch. She first wasn't sure what I said, but I had motioned over to the chutney and said it was bad. She moved it away from me and placed it at the corner of the table. read more

The food is always so delicious and now they have a liquor license, so instead of ordering delivery we will be more frequent guests at the restaurant! The service is friendly and attentive, and the dishes are beautifully presented. They also do a very reasonably priced lunch buffet on the weekends - perfect for anyone who is not sure what to order. I was looking forward to eating at the new Hyland Curry & Grill place. First I'll start with the food was fresh and very tasty. The disappointment was as soon as we walked into the place, the lights were extra bright and they had no heating. We sat through the whole evening with our jackets on and buttons closed. Yes, it was that cold. Service was very bad, one person for the entire place. I think takeout is the way to go for now until they change a few things. read more

Incredible food!!! The vegetable samosas were the best samosas I've ever had, so tasty and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The eggplant appetizer was also incredible and crunchy. And I've never had a shrimp tikka masala - they really know how to cook shrimp to perfection! It was tender in the masala as well as in the shrimp appetizer dish. The tandoori chicken was super moist and the aloo gobi was perfectly flavorful too! We got medium spice and it was up there for me, I loved every bite!! And the waiter and (I think owner) were so hospitable. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back for the Sunday buffet!! read more

This place is a pleasant surprise considering that it's kind of packed out of the way, and not something you would typically notice on your drive down Hylan Boulevard. I had the chicken tikka masala, and it was done perfectly. The meet was tender and the sauce was just the right amount of spicy. Delicious food, very good Chicken Vindaloo, just the right amount of spicy heat and a great amount of cloves and other spices. The portion was good for the price too. I think the sauces on the Vindaloo and Saag could've been a little thicker but a minor gripe. Ever since I moved to New York, I had been feeling very homesick and although I cook Indian food from time to time, it isn't quite the same experience as the food back at home. I discovered Indian Xpress 2 while looking for restaurants and thought I would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by how the taste of the food was so accurate. It's hard to find herbs and spices that taste just like they do back in India but the mixture tasted just like authentic Indian food. I ordered the Chicken Biryani and Lamb grilled chops. The chicken biryani was light and fluffy with the perfect amount of spice to it. It went really well with the chatni. The lamb chops were tender and juicy, which were made with great quality and fresh lamb meat. I was really happy with my experience and would definitely try it again! read more

Open for takeout and delivery! I placed a pickup order for dinner and Indian Xpress 2 did not disappoint. I ordered butter chicken (comes with a side of basmati rice) and a side of chicken tikka naan. My order was ready by the time it was promised and the food came out piping hot and fresh. The food tasted great and I even had enough for leftovers the next day. Very limited parking in front of the store but you can just turn the corner and find street parking. read more

Additionally, the portions for the mains were small--not much chicken and very little rice. The biggest issue was the atmosphere. It was already very hot inside, and they kept running the heater directly over us, which made eating spicy food quite uncomfortable. Also, be aware they charge an additional surcharge for credit cards. I'd likely give it another try for the flavors, but I hope they improve the portions and climate control.

We assumed the kitchen was backed up, hence their unprofessional complaining and ill planning for the holiday. We opted to walk out and leave. They were visibly happy to see us leave. Awful! We will NOT be coming back. We had a wonderful time across the street at Salty Dog and were treated like valuable patrons; not ignored.

The girl whispers and the guy mumbles.. I asked if they take card. They said "we take all" ordered food.. Waited for it to be microwaved & served. When I got it, rice was warm.. meat was freezing.. like they DEEP froze it over night. Forget thy only gave me two prices of meat as if they were saving the leftovers to take home? I asked why there was only 2 pcs they laughed & mumbled in their native language. I was more disgusted how they offered cold food.. after the second warming and 1 extra meat.. i was sadden more cause the food was still cold! They didn't care much or didn't speak English well enough to understand their error. Don't eat here with cold leftover food they they were more cheaper to provide the customer. With this experience I think I can do a better job. Not that I want to. But I know I won't come here again or suggest it to anyone of my clients!
