This place nailed it and knocked it lit the park. I will absolutely be back for more of that lamb Korma and the rich eastern atmosphere that you feel inside Taste of India. The Naan was excellent--perfectly crispy and fluffy. Both the Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo were delicious; the chicken was incredibly tender and the spice levels were just right. However, there were several disappointments. The Samosa appetizer only comes with two pieces (not mentioned on the menu) and they were mushy inside. Additionally, the portions for the mains were small--not much chicken and very little rice. The biggest issue was the atmosphere. It was already very hot inside, and they kept running the heater directly over us, which made eating spicy food quite uncomfortable. Also, be aware they charge an additional surcharge for credit cards. I'd likely give it another try for the flavors, but I hope they improve the portions and climate control.

The ambience is thoughtfully designed, reflecting a traditional Sri Lankan aesthetic that enhances the dining experience. The inside is overwhelming full of statues and Sri Lankan decor. It wasn't too big inside but it was big enough despite all the decor. Hated all the meat options here. I saw this on a blog saying it's one of the best buffet options in the five borough. No thanks, I would not come here if you're a huge meat eater, as I am. I love curries, but the meat and meat curry options were just not the best. (Honestly think there was only 2 meat options vs like 6 vegetarian options.I saw the reviews said the vegetarian options were amazing, but I thought they were just okay, but definitely better than the meat options. The best item was probably the dessert. Can't say I loved the food here, but if you're vegetarian and love curries, you'd enjoy this place.

The mixed biryani had pieces of different proteins mixed into the rice and squeezing lemon on top was really nice! Though I didn't go in person to the restaurant, I can only imagine the kind of decors the place might have had. The soup was not exactly the best. It was very gritty and pulpy? I also did scoop up a glob of tomato paste that wasn't fully incorporated into the soup which was sad. Maybe they didn't realize

You can easily check their online website to see if they will deliver to your address. Food came so quickly. Came in less than 45 minutes. Unfortunately, the packaging was not great and a lot of the food leaked. The food was still edible and they were generous with their rice portions. Flavor is good, not very spicy for the curries. Portion size is not bad either. The garlic naan was a little disappointing. It looked half burnt and the garlic flavor was very mild. Just felt like a regular naan with some pieces of garlic tossed on top. The lamb korma I ordered separated after 30 mins, and you can see that there was a lot of oil. Overall: food is not bad, portion size is good, but the take out packaging is not so good.

I found New Asha on Yelp and we made a plan to come here. We took the ferry over to Staten Island and then hopped on the bus which let us out right across from the restaurant. When we walked in we met the most awesome woman working at the restaurant. She was so helpful and when we told her it was our first time eating Sri Lankan food - she said she would make us a wonderful meal. She asked if we were vegetarian, if we liked spice, and what kind of meat we liked. She then put together a meal for us. The food was spectacular. If we lived closer by I would have ordered extra to take home. And I would have taken home dessert. Everything was so flavorful. We ended up having a plate of appetizers w some spicy sauce. Then we had mutton w our meal w several sides all of which were delish. I can't forget how good the roti was. We really enjoyed our meal. As we were settling our bill, she gave us a sample of bone marrow and it was so delish. Also, the bill was extremely reasonable. Would love to come back next time I'm in the area.

This place is unfortunately located in Staten Island which was pretty far from Manhattan. This place has a very small grocery store front. There is a back place that contains the restaurant. There were 4 benches with minimal decor. They didn't even give us plates when they brought out our appetizers. They also didn't give us water (they ended up bringing out bottled water for us). The appetizers (fish cutlets, chicken roll, and Seenisambol Bun) came on a tropical leaf. The fish and chicken roll were deep fried. I wish the fish cutlet was spicier. The chicken roll was super spicy. I liked the dip it came with. The 50 Piece String Hoppers was delicious. It is basically noodles that can be mixed with sambol which had a really good coconut/sourish taste to it. The noodles were then put in this daal. We ended the meal with a Chicken Kathu Roti. This dish is amazing. It was whole chicken with shredding roti inside. The dish contained shredded carrots, leeks, and eggs. There was also this spicy and delicious dal that coated the dish. At the end of the meal, we paid for our food at the store front side. This place was overall, a no frills experience with average food.

They only have takeout at the moment, but the owner told me that they'll have seating soon.
