I also got the crab rangoon and that's a go to for me with anywhere I go but of course it was perfectly cooked here. I ordered through doordash because I'm an out of towner and needed a late bite to eat so I can't really give any input on service or the location. Highly recommend eating here! Food is super good. You can choose off the sushi menu or the bar food menu. Everything is delicious so I recommend ordering a few different items off both menus so you can sample how good the sushi and other food items are. There are also many beer taps here. Appreciate the fact that Angry Orchard is available from a dedicated tap. If you haven't ever ordered an Angry Orchard from a tap, you don't know what you are missing. Get the tall one! Great sushi place if you are looking for the most basic rolls all the way to rolls that aren't offered widely on most sushi menus, five stars for the food! Monday night is buy one roll get one half off even on the special rolls! Three stars only because the takeout experience was less than stellar. We ordered right as they opened and when my husband got there they couldn't find the order, at that point the waiter said "oh it was on the other printer they didn't start making it yet" so my husband waited at the restaurant for almost 45 MORE minutes for the order to be made. No lie, this was kind of a strange place. Not sure what was happening at the time but even though there were 4 open spaces near the front, I was not able to park there because two other cars took up all 4 spaces and then proceeded to have massive clouds of smoke come out their windows. The entire 1000ft radius of this place smelled intensely of weed and every single clientele who went in and out of this place looked stoned. Guess it means the food is good?! The tables and menus had a layer of grease and the cushions of the booths were all falling apart. It took about 15 minutes of waiting, fruitless waving, going up to the sushi counter twice to just get the attention of a server. I went on a Tuesday evening so it was not very crowded. Once we did finally get a server to take our orders, she was nothing but friendly, helpful and competent so not sure what the initial holdup was about. Their menu surprised me by having so many Americanized sushi rolls (which are the kinds I like...) but I went for the bento dinner box instead. I will say this falls short of every other bento box meal I've ever ordered in multiple states. This one didn't come with a miso soup or salad to my chagrin. The entree was just drenched in corn starch heavy brown sauce instead of a light teriyaki glaze. My BF got the chicken lo mein which was fine and came in a reasonable portion. Why this place even got 2 of its stars is for having darts and pool. Playing several rounds while waiting for food to be served (which took forever) was super fun. They don't charge like in some bars so that was nice. But I probably won't be coming back here on purpose. read more

So here's the deal, the is basically a dive bar. Poor lighting, shabby booths, "eh" interior, SUPER unpredictable. BUT it is the only place to get fresh sushi late at night, and is it good? YES. Will it always be good (as you can see from the reviews)? No. But with a little patience, you're gonna get what you ordered, it will be reasonably fresh, and you will be happy. Disclosure, I'm and LA/NY sushi purist, hugely pretentious, but understanding about what I'm getting into. I've eaten and appreciate the best sushi America has to offer. Is this it? Not even close. But is it sanitary, good, tasty, delicious, and even served at absurd hours of the night, along with alcohol? Pretty much! I've gotten sushi and sashimi platters here several times and while it isn't the best, the price reflects that, and I'm satisfied. First of all, while the service was great, and the sushi was excellent, this is not a family friendly place. And that's primarily because of the music playlist. I loved the music, an eclectic mix of rap, contemporary R&B, and some alt rock, but it was all explicit versions, so just beware. Now, when you first pull up and walk in, you might find Hyde Out a bit out of place. There's a different vibe and the dark decor match it. Pets are allowed inside and parking is limited in front. Had the crab Rangoon, rock shrimp appetizer, salmon sashimi, Cali roll, Jamie roll, and yum yum roll. All were excellent. They had a decent list of domestic beers, as well as some microbrews and IPAs. Our waitress and the bartender were present just enough to make us feel appreciated and every request was promptly taken care of. If you're going there for drinks MAYBE that's ok but sushi is a no and honestly the drinks might not even be worth it since it's definitely not coming in a clean glass. So I told the waitress don't worry about the California rolls just take them off the bill because by that time I was super irritated. The manager told me / my waitress that they couldn't take the sushi rolls off the bill and she would put them in it to go bag had them over and literally 5 minutes. Then we told her that the cheeseburger didn't have what we ordered on it... She proceeded to have my daughter pick her cheeseburger apart piece by piece to prove she was missing a piece of cheese.... This Hyde Out should stay hidden. Stopped in for lunch on my way through town. It is a dive bar atmosphere with a sushi bar at the end of the bar. I was not going to order sushi as I was afraid it wouldn't hold up to my expectations. I intended to order something safe from the kitchen, but the menus we received only had sushi options. After ordering, we looked at the single slim drink menu out of curiosity and it turned out to be a kitchen menu with burgers, sandwiches and such. Oh well, order was in and too late to change, so here we go... Sushi looked good on arrival and tasted okay, although the texture was off-putting. Shrimp was dry and rubbery. Ginger and wasabi was dry and devoid of flavor. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. 5 hours later and I'm not sick yet. Fingers crossed. read more

I kept driving by this place thinking "ew" because of what it used to be and the sign out front advertises sushi. Well, I'm pretty picky when it comes to sushi so I had no intentions of stopping. Yesterday, I really had a craving for sushi so I hopped on yelp and searched in my area and this place popped up with 4.5 stars. I read some reviews and decided to give it a shot. There's only a couple parking spots out front but many more behind the building. When we first walked in, we weren't sure if we were supposed to wait for a hostess or seat ourselves so after a good 20 seconds, someone from behind the bar yelled out for us to pick a seat anywhere. We were greeted quickly and put in our drink orders. I looked over the menus (one is American, the other is Asian) and was actually surprised at all the unique sushi rolls. There were many common rolls but also some unique ones. I also noticed that the rolls are BOGO 50% off. Nice!! I decided on the Clearwater Beach roll and the Mermaid roll, and the kani salad on the side. The kani salad came out first and was delicious! Lots of "krab" and cucumber with a very tasty yet slightly spicy mayo. Yum! I'd definitely order it again. Boyfriend got fried mushrooms which were tasty. His food came out first and he had ordered the hibachi dinner. Had I not ordered an appetizer, his food would have been cold by the time my sushi came out. But since I had my appetizer, he went ahead and ate his entree. Finally my sushi came out. The sushi was plated beautifully. I love when the sushi chef takes the time to arrange the plate to be aesthetically pleasing. I found both rolls to be a bit fishy tasting. Now, one of the rolls had seaweed salad on top so I kind of expect fishy flavor from that but the rolls alone also tasted kind of fishy. The ingredients were nice and fit together well. Overall, the sushi was good but didn't blow my hair back or anything. Boyfriend said his hibachi was good but not better than Wasabi Express and also there was sadly no yum yum sauce offered. He did like the variety of veggies in it though and said the rice was perfect. I agree, my sushi rice was perfect! Overall, good first impression. I'm sure we'll be back to try more menu items. Definitely a unique environment for sushi but lives up to the name "sushi bar"! This was some of the best sushi we've had in a long time and very reasonably priced. The waitress/bartender, Jhamie is the sweetest, the music was fantastic, and our overall experience was pleasant. Unfortunately, I regret to say I would not recommend the lobster roll, the lobster was very tough and there was too much breading on that tempura. Interesting place. Pro's: I was surprised by the quality of sushi & hibachi considering the low price. The sushi chef was professional & was the only employee we saw that wore a mask over their mouth & nose(yay!). Con's: the bartender/server didn't wear her mask. It was around her chin the entire time, so it didn't even cover her mouth as she carried our drinks or food. She also engaged in multiple close conversations with customers who did not have a mask on (because they were seated and eating/drinking). The kitchen chef carried our hibatchi to the table with her mask resting on her chin & it did not cover her mouth.... I haven't seen this at other restaurants in the area so it made me pretty uncomfortable, especially since our governor just released new restrictions in the past week. All in all: I love a bargain when it comes to sushi but I won't be going back. read more

We've eaten here and ordered take out for a couple of years, but lately the quality of the sushi has gone way down hill, we both ordered Chirashi Bowls, the salmon and the hamachi were good, but the white fish was spongy and weird, like it had been refrozen a dozen too many times, the tuna was very odd, tasteless and spongy as well. Fried shrimp was Sam's Club prebreaded stuff, the seaweed salad was good, but you can buy that premade in gallon buckets for restaurants, so odds are that was not fresh as well. Too bad, it was a gem in the making, but seems the glitter has gone and the quality along with it. We realize the place is also a local bar, but that does not excuse the filth when walking in, mops are cheap and cleanup is pretty easy. read more
