Outstanding customer service! Everyone is friendly from the front desk staff to the housekeeping attendants. Every morning during breakfast one of the managers made a point to stop at every table just to say good morning and make sure we were doing ok. The rooms are modern and very comfortable. One person who really stood out was Cecelia. She is always smiling, friendly, and made sure we always had everything we needed during breakfast in addition to making sure the breakfast area was always tidy. When I asked her name she told me then she asked my name and said "very nice to meet you". Just one example of how Hyatt makes their guests feel welcomed. read more

2 night stay for a work event and couldnt have asked for more. Friendly service, quality breakfast, shuttle service, convenient location, clean, list goes on and on. Not enough to warrant a star reduction for me but some suggestions would be to offer shuttles for a wider range of time and vending machines on each floor. Recently gave a similar hotel 1 star. This one seemed updated and trendy like the last. However, the main room was carpeted. I was very happy for that. I usually bring sandals for bathroom and shower, but just put on aocks afterwards. Having carpet meant i didnt need any warmer footwear in the room! Bed was comfy, room was clean, the front desk employees were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was even complimentary. We didnt take advantage of that, but my last stay at similar place was 10 bucks for nasty eggs in a chafing dish that hadnt been touched all morning. I would have been thrilled if it was just free yogurt and cereal. My only complaint is regarding parking. There is a garage offsite and around the corner that is shared with an amtrak station and anyone else in town that cares to pay for parking. Get your ticket validated and parking is free, but the garage is busy. We parked once on the 3rd floor. There is only 1 elevator in the garage to go up and down. Keep this in mind if booking in the winter cold. Thankfully, it was unseasonably 65F that day. Also we booked a room with a view and there was new construction going so. I imagine that view will soon be a brick wall. There was a bar downstairs were if i were lazy i might have enjoyed. We were in town for a concert though and drank plenty there. Plenty of bars within walking distance and chances they're a better value. Its a college town though. So for privacy or better conversation the hotel bar might be best bet read more

I expressed my disappoint at check-out. The Hayatt employee did not seem to care. Good points. Most personnel were very friendly. Easy validation for garage parking. Comfortable bed. Nice size room. Negatives. Either our room was temporarily used or the bathroom was not cleaned well. There was hair in the shower and on the sink. I didn't complain because we were exhausted from a funeral and dealing with the loss. We stayed in a room that was priced a higher because it was a corner room and it supposedly had a view. If you get by the parking garage, the view was ok. But, not worth the upgrade. The floor tile in the bathroom and shower needs maintenance. The grout is coloring and need to be cleaned or replaced. The towels seemed to be from a 2 star hotel. Parking is only available in the parking garage. If the Hyatt is not meeting the standards of a 3.5 star hotel. I paid way too much to stay here and would have been better off at a lower rated hotel. read more

We've been coming to Bloomington/Normal for years to attend the Special Olympics Summer Games. We usually stay at hotels away from the campus. So glad we tried the Hyatt Place! As others have mentioned, the parking is a bit of a hassle. If you want to run out and get something you have to walk across the street to the parking garage. It's free but time consuming and inclement weather would be a factor. Rooms do not have microwaves. We had a mini fridge but it didn't get very cold. The 24/7 "Made 2 Order" food menu is great for late night snacks and not outrageously priced like other hotels. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. I agree about the frosted glass "barn door" style bathroom door. Pretty but not functional. Ours wouldn't close all the way either. The trains didn't bother us as we are used to hearing them. The area around the hotel is somewhat quiet. Staff has been very nice and friendly. The hotel is clean and beautifully modern with plenty of gathering places in the lobby. The room layout is nice. We would definitely stay here again. read more

The hotel was mostly great. This could have been a 3 or 4 star review. Service was friendly and prompt. The hotel is beautiful. Our room was clean. Unfortunately, it was the worst night of sleep I've ever had at a hotel due to the freight trains blowing horns throughout the night. And I'm usually a deep sleeper. One reviewer commented someone on the 6th floor didn't hear the trains. We were on 7 and the horns were crystal clear in our room. The combination of great service but lack of sleep leaves me no other option than a 2 star review. Ear plugs were available in the room upon checking into our room. That was a first for me. With 3 kids, I needed to hear them if needed. No ear plugs for me. Had I heard the trains before 10:30pm I would have requested a different room. I talked with the front desk person the next morning and the courteous response is that its different for each person and a recommendation was given for a different room number. Additional comments: I found parking easy. We used the area in front of the hotel to load and unload. Then a keycard is given for the parking garage for easy in and out. Plenty of parking available in the garage. We visited the pool 3 times during our 1 night stay. The water temp was fine with the kids. I would have preferred it to be a tad bit warmer. Beautiful rooftop deck on the 2nd floor with comfortable seating and a giant outdoor TV. Breakfast was ok. Plenty of selection even though we were within the last 30 minutes of breakfast. I stayed a a different Hyatt a few weeks ago and the scrambled eggs there were great. The eggs here at Normal were not so great. Oatmeal and yogurt were fine. The sliding bathroom door did not lock. If I need lodging in Bloomington/Normal again I will look elsewhere away from the train line. I could live with the other smaller issues. But the freight train blowing the horn throughout the night for a solid minute just isn't worth it. I needed my sleep and I didn't get it. read more

This Hyatt in Normal is taking normal too seriously. The windows in the rooms are sealed, and the stuffy feeling is inescapable. The window in our sixth floor room gave us a view into the depths of the HVAC system and a parking garage next door. The bathroom lacked a vanity mirror, and the full-width mirror was located too far from the sink to be of use to put on make up. Speaking of parking, the free parking is located on the supper stories of a separate parking ramp across the street that also serves city hall. Standard hot-and-cold fare breakfast. Another perfect stay at the Hyatt Place in downtown Normal. It's simply a great place to stay and a fantastic location. Everything was perfect...smooth checkin with NO WAIT...ever. Hyatt has adopted mobile technology which speeds everything along and it works. Staff must love working here because they really seem to care. Everyone. Asked for foam pillows and BAMM...4 foam pillows delivered to my room within minutes. When was the last time a maintenance man spoke to you at a hotel...here the guy sweeping the lobby was friendly and smiled...unreal. Fresh ice water and apples in the lobby...doesn't seem like much but when you just need a quick drink or bite to eat on the go it saves you $$$. Breakfast this trip on a Sunday morning was great and it's free. About 50 people showed up at 9am and the staff really got a move on...hot fresh food for all and pronto. The woman running the show that day really worked miracles. Maybe they had a heads up but hoards of people all got fed within a few minutes...bravo. This place is VALUE for your money. read more

Very nice and clean hotel with wonderful staff. Positives: Staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Breakfast is good and what you would expect. Rooms are large, modern, and very clean. Great location for local downtown small shops , food, bars, and the University. Negatives: I'm pretty sure the other reviews will warn you of the blowing horn of the trains. Horrible!! About 1 block from tracks. Very small parking area to check ion and unload your bags. Long walk to garage parking. Be prepared for that. **Train whistle just blew as I am writing this. Got to laugh at this point. Poor people at the Marriott across the street have it just feet away from them. read more

Beautiful hotel, nice bar, friendly staff. It's right in the middle of the action in Uptown Normal and ISU's campus, and it's just a block from the train station. There is a freight train that passes by just a couple hundred feet away in the middle of the night, and I never heard a thing. read more

Brand new hotel, so it's extremely nice as a result. I got a nice room with tons of windows overlooking the street; however, I had to switch rooms. The road noise was unbearable. I can't believe they didn't account for the road noise when they were designing it. The room I got switched to wasnt as big, but worked fine. Fitness center has some cardio equipment and dumbbells. Breakfast is your standard Hyatt place breakfast, which is good. Parking is free and next door at the Amtrak garage. So you do have to walk outside to get to the hotel. Would've been nice if they had a side entrance. But you have to walk back to the front of the hotel. Price was also extremely affordable. For less than $100, you cant beat it. read more

We stayed for two nights this past weekend. We were given the corner room on the fourth floor (401). It was a beautiful, spacious room with a half circle window (and remote controlled blinds!). Parking is located in the garage across the street and can be validated by the front desk. The hotel is right next to the train station but the noise didn't bother us and we slept like rocks. For the light sleepers, the hotel provides ear plugs and you can request a white noise machine. We brought our dog and appreciated that there were dog treats provided at the front desk - the staff even offered to bring her some when we told them she cried for a few minutes after we left. Over the course of the three days and two nights we met several staff members. Everyone was polite, friendly, and welcoming. We look forward to staying here the next time we are in town. There are several cute stores, mom and pop coffee shops, and a fabulous ice cream shop, all of which are within a few blocks. read more

Tied with the best all around hotel experience I ever had with the Holiday Inn on the outskirts of Ann Arbor. 5 star service with immaculate cleanliness and value beyond expectations. Top to bottom the folks who manage this palace take pride in service and value like no one else. I would stay here on business. I would stay here for a family get-away. Beautiful hotel. We had drinks and dinner Friday night and the staff was really great. Food was delicious. The Monte Cristo was a big hit at our table as well as the BBQ chicken flatbread. The beds are very comfortable and rooms have all the neccessities. Highly recommend but book early on busy weekends! read more

This hotel is awesome. It's clean, the staff is so friendly and the room was cool. The only exception was Jocelyn. Very unfreiendly, rude and confrontational. She was the only bad part of our entire vacation as she knows nothing about customer service or hospitality. Seriously, get rid of that bad seed and you have perfection. I normally wouldn't call someone out like this, but she was so awful that it's warranted. All of the other staff, including housekeeping, was stellar. ..catching the elevator for us, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was good instead of pretending be busy, thus avoiding customers. Beyond impressed by the staff at this hotel. I travel frequently for both business and pleasure, all over the country, and never see attention to guests like this. We saw the manager all over: saying hello, chipping in to clear plates and clean rooms, asking if we need anything. The service was impeccable!!! Everyone there was extremely professional, nice, and accommodating. They get an A+ for customer service. It was Family Weekend at ISU so the hotel was booked. I enjoyed the hot skillet breakfast as it has something for everyone. The 2nd floor rooftop lounge was great too. My first drink had too much of the mixer and it was corrected on the 2nd drink. I was astounded to find out there was no "tip line" when paying by credit card. I didn't have cash on me and felt horrible. But all in all, a top notch stay. read more

I wouldn't recommend this hotel!! I'm a World of Hyatt member and have stayed at a Hyatt property many times. I was lied by 2 different managers at this hotel about their cancellation policy and was charged for a night I didn't use!! There customer service in handling this situation was poor. They made no attempt to remove the charge from my credit card or offer any type of compensation. So much for being a world of Hyatt member and trying to stay loyal to a company. I've heard from others that have used this hotel that they dealt with the same issue when trying to cancel a reservation! I'm going to pass the word on to others to use extreme caution when choosing to reserve here!! read more

Stayed here this weekend while visiting my daughter at ISU for moms day at her sorority house. Originally only planned to stay one night but due to the snow storm ended up being for two nights. Staff were extremely helpful & super friendly. Breakfast is included & a decent selection of buffet style fayre was constantly being refilled and the tables were cleaned as soon as they were vacated. Room was extremely clean & spacious. Will definitely stay again. read more

Beautiful new (opened Sept. 2015) modern hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. My kids loved the warm pool area. I liked the nice lounge/lobby to hang out with friends in at night. The free breakfast was good in the morning and had free Tazo tea. Our beds and pillows were extremely comfortable & we liked the nice sitting area in our room. The only negatives were: the funky modern frosted glass sliding door to our bathroom didn't close all the way and you can see the shadow of the person in the bathroom - not ideal when traveling with your kids...liked the look but not the functionality; the parking was in a garage across the street; and the city has a train that goes through a couple of times at night that woke us up. The very social manager walks around and introduces himself to the guests - he told me that the city is working on a solution for the train noise. Despite the negatives, I would definitely stay at this hotel again but would ask for a room on a higher floor. read more

The hotel is new and very clean. I travel for business, so am not sharing the room with others. There are some things that set this property apart from others. The sofa bed area is a great place to relax, and they have a throw in the room which makes it feel more "homey". Some things that are important to me as a female traveler - the bathroom has plenty of shelf space for brush, curling iron, etc. There's a small "shelf" in the shower and a grab bar which makes it easy to shave your legs. The towels are on a rack in the shower area - so you don't have to step out into the cold to grab a towel and dry yourself off. I like having a frig and a coffeemaker in the room. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The lobby area was clean, and welcoming. There were computers and printers available. I did order dinner twice and the food was good for the price. I'll admit that I'm not a big breakfast eater - they have oatmeal and that's all I usually eat. But there are sandwiches, french toast, fruit and cold cereals. I never heard any "noise" at night but then I'm not a light sleeper. Very close to ISU - and honestly for most locations in the University you're better off staying here and walking to the University rather than trying to get parking on campus and paying for it. The only "weird" thing I found is that if you order dinner, the receipt has no spot for a tip! They only accept cash tips. I normally charge everything and felt bad not tipping the bartender since I had no cash on me! Bring some cash for tips if you eat / drink in the hotel. Bottom line - great value, and my new "go to" hotel in this area. read more

Our company hosted an all day meeting at the Hyatt Place in August 2016. Our event coordinator was fantastic in getting our event set up and organized. The staff was very accommodating in bringing extra power cords for laptops. Our meeting had breakout sessions in which small groups spread out across the hotel for discussion, and everyone raved about the comfortable seating on the main floor and the views in the corner nook. The Hyatt Place is a wonderful location choice for a business meeting and the staff is great. read more

The weekend, evening front end staff did a phenomenal job. I did not recently stay here, but there was terrible flooding on the street the Hyatt is located on recently. I was passing the hotel when my car got stuck in the flood water. As I was exiting my vehicle and attempting to get some roadside assistance, I noticed a Hyatt worker wading through the knee deep water to assist me. Once inside the Hyatt, it became clear that the flooding from the road was affecting their front lobby and all the workers were doing an amazing job keeping the water at bay. I was given a towel and blanket while I waited for a tow truck. These workers went above and beyond what I would have expected hotel staff to do in this situation. read more

I was not impressed. At first I thought the Terrace was a beautiful place to enjoy my night with my husband, however, I had encountered a member of the staff that was not to my liking. I believe his name was Rodney and was the General Manager. As I was sitting on the Terrace, I found it very unprofessional to be drinking in uniform. Regardless if he was on the clock or not, management should not be drinking at their place of business while in their work uniform. Upon trying to speak with him, I found him to be rather rude and unpleasant. I will not be staying at the Hyatt Place in Normal anytime soon. All other staff was satisfactory, however, as a general manager, I expect a higher level of work ethic and diligence. read more
