I've stayed at this Hyatt a few times and I definitely recommend it. Why I like it... * Rooftop restaurant with good food * Good free breakfast, not your typical continental breakfast * Great, accommodating staff * Clean and aesthetically pleasing * Connected to the Classic Center * Within walking distance of several great restaurants

This is one of the best Hyatts I have stayed. Everything was very neat and clean. The staff was super helpful and the room was large and spacious. Our room had a great view of downtown which was really cool to see. Breakfast was full and flavorful. We had a really nice stay and I will be back.

This is probably the best Hyatt Place hotel in the chain. Spotless, the front desk representatives were kind, knowledgeable and well dressed. Our room had view of downtown which was nice. Parking is $10 day. The breakfast was fantastic with full buffet. They have a rooftop bar, which is awesome, food was good. The lobby bar had full liquor and 4 different draft beers! Within walking distance of restaurants downtown Athens and everything UGA!

A solid 4 stars for one of the only rooftop bars in Athens! A bar in close proximity to Sanford Stadium, this place is on the roof of the Hyatt Place in Downtown Athens. Great drinks, beautiful views of downtown and great food to accompany the drinks. The service was great and the prices were decent. We will be back!

If you are in town for a game this is the hotel to stay at. It's conveniently walking distance which is a good. The room was comfortable and clean, friendly staff we enjoyed our experience here. I even ended up leaving something in the room and they were able to find it for me. I even got a call and email to follow up so that it could be mailed back to me, did i mention the turn around didn't take long. And not a long wait for parking which is also a plus side when staying at a hotel having to wait long for your car.

Very nice and reasonable priced. Room was huge, bed was comfy, very clean!' Bathroom was nice, large walk in shower and great water pressure!! Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and had a great selection. We were pleased with our stay. Will definitely look to stay at more Hyatt hotels.

Beer Me Bucket - $20 for 5 cans (12-16 oz)

This review is for HyBar - the rooftop bar/restaurant of the Hyatt! Definitely go for the sunset views - it's gorgeous! There seemed to be no host, the servers would just come up & seat you - but we waited 40 minutes for a table because the servers rarely came up to seat you. Once we were seated we had good service but it was also slow - you could tell they were understaffed & our server was manning half the tables. I got the chicken sandwich which was DELISHHHH. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. I split a Beer Me bucket with a friend which was a really good deal - 5 cans (12-16 oz) for $20. I thought it would be expensive since it's a hotel rooftop bar but i'm actuality it is all very affordable. I would come back!

A small part of the blood spatter on comforter of 2nd room.

Upon settling into my room with my 4 month old I discovered hair, what appeared to be balls of toilet paper, lint, and unknown brown specs in the bed once the sheets were pulled back. I immediately called the front desk as it was obvious our room was not cleaned. They immediately relocated us to another room - an upgraded suite. I asked to inspect it based on the last room for the safety of my infant especially in light of COVID. The hotel staff accompanied me. When she pulled back the covers there was a large splattered stain of what appeared to be blood - in the bed of the 2nd room. She immediately refunded my husband and I for our stay and we are now on the road at 1 am with our baby which is what we were hoping to avoid. Given the unhygienic nature of both rooms I would not recommend anyone stay here.

She is an experience all on her own! Her energy, her warmth, her fun personality, and the way she makes every guest feel like they're the most important person in the room is unmatched. She mixes a phenomenal drink, remembers everyone's favorites, and creates an atmosphere that makes you want to stay at the bar all night. Ashley is truly a gem -- the kind of employee every hotel dreams of having. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Eden at the front desk. He was incredibly kind, offered me water without me even asking, and went out of his way to guide me to a great spot for a late-night drink after bar hours. His thoughtfulness and genuine hospitality were so appreciated. Between Ashley's unforgettable service and Eden's kindness, this hotel made my trip exceptional. I will absolutely be staying here again -- and recommending it to everyone I know.

Truth be told - this is a Motel. Albeit, better than a Red Roof Inn, but still a motel. Pictures…read moreshared on their site show the main building where the lobby, coffee shop and restaurant/bar (The Foundry) is located, but the rooms are across a street in a large L shaped, two-story building. First the positives: The lobby and coffee shop are decorated in a fun, quirky way which creates a casual and relaxing environment. I've heard the decor described as being from a Wes Anderson movie. (I think that is an accurate description.) We would have our morning coffee over there relaxing on the comfy couches/chairs and had a surprisingly good breakfast burrito at the coffee shop. Location was good. Close to downtown, easy 10 minute walk to most things, and it was close to the North Oconee River Greenway walking trail on the other side of the river. Our room (on the second floor) was comfortable, clean, well appointed and quiet. The quietness may be due to the fact that we were possibly one of only two or three customers in the hotel those nights. Nonetheless, we slept well and have no complaints about the room. Now for some minor negatives: Staff, which comprised mostly college students, were less than friendly or attentive. At check-in, important information was not disclosed, like the optional housekeeping service, or that the restaurant/bar was not open (at all) during our stay. The $12 per day parking fee was excessive in my opinion. We were the only car in this lot - I feel like they could've waived the parking fee. And the $75 dog fee was a bit steep - but the room rate was low, so I guess it balanced out. We had to call for towels (and to replace a broken soap dispenser) repeatedly before someone finally showed up around 7 pm - I think they didn't have anyone working.... Anyhow - would I stay at this hotel again? Yes. My girlfriend probably wouldn't however. I think had it been warmer and had the Foundry been open, we probably would have had a better experience there. But, it is significantly cheaper that other hotels I looked at, and, frankly, you have to take that into consideration.

I booked on the Bonvoy app and tried to use points. I didn't have enough apparently, so I purchased $250.00 worth of points to round out a two night stay. The online reservation must have switched when I changed payment to the points. In any event, the front desk said I only had one night booked, but the amount of points I purchased to cover the second night of my reservation cost more than the cost of a night here. Even writing this review is a TOTAL waste of my time. They stole my points, refused to refund my card the $250.00 so I could simply pay for the $195.00 cost of the room. All my points were stolen, including the new ones I purchased AND they chopped one night of my reservation. The front desk had their hands tied by lousy Corporate policies, so the blame for this debacle rests solely on Marriott Corporate Office. I WILL NEVER STAY AT A MARRIOTT AGAIN! During the day there are many people walking the tracks and if you are on the 2nd floor as I was, they can look straight into your room. The trains do not seem to be especially noisy, but they were loud enough to wake me up while sleeping. They offer a comfy bed, but the pillows are very uncomfortable as to be unusable.
