This a nice hotel at the edge of downtown Athens. The only thing that to me made it different than many other hotels is that the breakfast was impressive. There is a massive selection of things to eat. The scrambled eggs were real scrambled eggs, not the industrial ones of motel buffets. One day, they had these triangular potato cake things that were many steps above your average hash browns. You can throw together a breakfast burrito. There is cheese, salsa and tortillas on hand. You don't have to make your own waffles. They are premade and cut into small pieces. There's a lot more to explore. Don't miss out on the breakfast! read more

Had tickets for a local show. It was a COLD Friday night and the coffee shop near the venue was closed. Stepped in to get a cup of coffee or directions to another coffee shop. My GF and I were greated by staff and offered complementary coffee. Made small talk with the staff and SISSY asked if we had ever visited their ROOF TOP BAR. We had not and SISSY took us on a tour to the rooftop. The view from rooftop bar was beautiful and we will definitely return when the weather warms up. We arrived in Athens for the last UGA home hockey game of the season in a rare snowstorm. We only live an hour away, but we knew we had to find a place to stay due to unsafe road conditions. Megan K. at the front desk was SO kind and helpful. She went above and beyond to find a reasonable rate for us to stay one night. As the day went on and businesses began to close due to weather, our team and all of the families needed a place to gather to celebrate our senior players. We walked into the main floor restaurant/bar, The Placery, at the Hyatt with easily 60-70 people. Kate and Audrey at the bar were simply amazing. They handled our crowd in addition to other groups already there with such grace, professionalism, personality and ease. From all of the drinks poured, food ordered and questions asked, those ladies CRUSHED it! Shout out to the kitchen staff as well! Sadly, I did not get any of their names. We stayed here during the G game weekend and it was perfect! Our room was ready when we arrived and check-in was easy. We even got a gift bag with some snacks and soda, and water. What a nice surprise! You had to have a room key to get up the elevator, which added to the security and the parking was gated as well. Our room was clean, well-appointed and felt modern, with a decent sized living area and a large TV. There was also a fridge, but no safe. The bathroom was new and modern as well. The body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were in pumps in the shower, not in free standing containers on the counter. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of closet space. There was a small desk as well. The breakfast was top notch for this tier of hotel. There were eggs, bacon, sausage, all kinds of breads and juices, and biscuits and gravy. There were lots of cereal and milk choices as well and the food was always stocked. The staff was on top of everything. The containers were really hot though and not kid friendly for them to be able to get the hot foods themselves. We had a great stay with the late checkout we got! read more

Stayed for a business trip last August. Well kept, stylish hotel with a great rooftop view of Athens, GA!

Although the Hotel is nice and the room was great...the service left alot to be desired as well as the billing. We had our groups National convention in Athens GA. And Hyatt was our host hotel. We had a reservation for 3 days and we checked in on Thursday after being on our Motorcycles for 12 hours that day. Our confirmation email that we recieved stated TOTAL AMOUNT FOR ROOM...537.00 But when we checked in...they charged us 674.55 Which is 137.55 more that quoted. When I asked about this...they said that the total didnt include taxes...incidentals...parking. I understand about taxes etc...but why not state that in the total instead of doing a bait and switch on the guest once they get there?? Then...YOU CHARGE YOUR GUESTS FOR PARKING IN YOUR HOTEL?? Thats right...14.00 per day per space.Now mind you we are on Two motorcycles that easily fit into 1 space. Even though this was completely acceptable to the Hotel they STILL charged us 36.00 for parking. Im 60 years old and travel all the time on my bike and this is the first time Ive ever been charged for parking at any hotel Ive ever stayed at. If youre with me this far...HANG ON as it gets better!!! We had just came up from Panama city beach at Pier park where we stayed 2 days at the (rhymes with Chilton) and was never charged for parking AT ALL. In fact..we were in a SECURE PARKING LOT with cameras on our motorcycles the whole time. Before that...we were in Mobile Ala. (Again Chilton) in Historic downtown for 2 days and AGAIN...on a secure lot and never charged for parking. THEN we find out that the room we had is on their site going for 148.00 to 151.00 per night. They charged us 179.00 per night!!! WTH...at this point we figured there wasnt anything we could do as all of the other hotels in town were sold out and because we didnt cancel 48 hours in advance we would be charged anyway. So we made the best of it and stayed. OH WAS YHIS A MISTAKE!!! Because "THEY FELT" We were a bunch of big bad bikers they felt the need to have 24hr. Security hovering over us at our every move and YES they were armed and were in full "Battle rattle"!! The staff was extremely rude as when asked a simple question like" what time was breakfast in the morning"...it was an inconvienience for them to answer. I was trying to ask if I could get some creamer for my coffee and seeing as there was noone at the front desk I seen a lady walking around next to the lobby and went to ask her.. ALL THEN SUDDEN here comes a woman from the front desk YELLING at me that I didnt belong there and if I needed something I needed to ask her. Imagine my surprize when she went to where I was to get some only to NEVER RETURN. Granted...this was my first time staying at a Hyatt and because of the way We were bait and switched then treated...itll be my last time. Regarding the final bill and the Confirmation email stating a completely different amount... under contractual law...the confirmation email they sent me stating TOTAL FOR ROOM 537.00 is in fact a contract and Ive actually thought about contacting my Attorney. If the Hotel were to honor the price they quoted me in the email and reimburse me the difference they charged me...Id be happy but considering who owns Hyatt I honestly dont see that happening. But if it does Ill be more than happy to Edit this review. So keep checking back for updates. In the meantime...theres plenty of other fine hotels in the area to stay at that Im sure would just love to have your business. read more

This hotel met all of our expectations and checked all of the boxes. First, we had a very welcoming and cordial check-in. The room is a typical Hyatt Place spacious layout with a large TV. Parking in the garage was much better than I expected. The garage is attached to the hotel so you can park close by and walk right into the hotel. The garage felt very secure. We went to the hotel outdoor hybar for dinner . It is more of a bar as the food was hamburgers, quesadillas, etc. Not worry, we walked just two blocks away to find SOUTH Kitchen + Bar. Note that the fried portobello sandwich there was outstanding - dressed with pimento cheese and collard greens on the bun. The complementary breakfast was extensive and had a person on hand to help you if needed. No cons at all. read more

The Hyatt place is located in downtown Athens and is a well situated hotel for a stay in the city. It is walking distance to all the amenities in downtown as well as the UGA campus. Checkin-in was quick and easy and the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. They did not have turndown service as standard but you could request this if needed. Breakfast has a decent selection and was included as part of the stay. There is a parking garage attached to the hotel and parking was $12 p/n. Many people struggled to work the entry/exit barrier so there was usually a long wait to get in/out. read more

Pros: rooms and bathroom were clean, fast elevators and close to walking around to downtown and the college. Work out area is amazing! Great space, clean towels and a good variety of machines to dumbbells. Cons: check in was a little messy... they don't give digital key when checking in so make sure you get a car to be able to get into parking. The elevators from parking garage is a bit confusing. Luckily I had met someone while waiting for the elevator to show me where to go. You have to get off on the second floor then walk through some conference areas to go around to another set of elevators to bring me to my room. I am vegan/gluten free so breakfast is very limited here. read more

A solid 4 stars for one of the only rooftop bars in Athens! A bar in close proximity to Sanford Stadium, this place is on the roof of the Hyatt Place in Downtown Athens. If you are in town for a game this is the hotel to stay at. It's conveniently walking distance which is a good. The room was comfortable and clean, friendly staff we enjoyed our experience here. I even ended up leaving something in the room and they were able to find it for me. I even got a call and email to follow up so that it could be mailed back to me, did i mention the turn around didn't take long. And not a long wait for parking which is also a plus side when staying at a hotel having to wait long for your car. read more

This was my second stay at Hyatt Place Athens. The first thing I enjoy about the hotel is how modern it looks. Visually, it's eye catching. I was in Athens for business and our team spent sometime downstairs in the lobby. The front desk staff was extremely accommodating and it was clear their goal was to ensure a smooth check in. This is a very average Hyatt place. Let me tell you though the staff is amazing. They're very friendly and flexible-for that they got three stars. Otherwise they would've gotten 2. All the ladies at the front desk were friendly and accommodating and for that I would definitely recommend coming here because they'll try to make your stay great! The hotel is in a decent location and walkable to downtown Athens which is really nice. It's near a couple of great restaurants. They do have a free breakfast in the morning and the food is OK. I had the sausage biscuits which were kind of stale and hard. They have some fresh fruit and bacon. Overall I've stayed at other Hyatt Place is with better food for breakfast. The bed wasn't the most comfortable and we could hear people outside of the room walking in the hall. I know it's like that a lot but some places do a better job with noise than others. The bathroom was slightly dirty and we did see some hair on the side of the bathroom. The gym is very nice, spacious and clean. All in all two stars got knocked down for the Uncomfortable bed, possibly the loudness of the hallway and the cleanliness. Also the breakfast food was not the best I've had at a Hyatt place but it was OK. The service at the front desk is stellar. You also have to pay $10 to park- FYI. read more

This review is for HyBar - the rooftop bar/restaurant of the Hyatt! Definitely go for the sunset views - it's gorgeous! There seemed to be no host, the servers would just come up & seat you - but we waited 40 minutes for a table because the servers rarely came up to seat you. Once we were seated we had good service but it was also slow - you could tell they were understaffed & our server was manning half the tables. I got the chicken sandwich which was DELISHHHH. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. I split a Beer Me bucket with a friend which was a really good deal - 5 cans (12-16 oz) for $20. I thought it would be expensive since it's a hotel rooftop bar but i'm actuality it is all very affordable. I would come back! read more

Upon settling into my room with my 4 month old I discovered hair, what appeared to be balls of toilet paper, lint, and unknown brown specs in the bed once the sheets were pulled back. I immediately called the front desk as it was obvious our room was not cleaned. They immediately relocated us to another room - an upgraded suite. I asked to inspect it based on the last room for the safety of my infant especially in light of COVID. The hotel staff accompanied me. When she pulled back the covers there was a large splattered stain of what appeared to be blood - in the bed of the 2nd room. She immediately refunded my husband and I for our stay and we are now on the road at 1 am with our baby which is what we were hoping to avoid. Given the unhygienic nature of both rooms I would not recommend anyone stay here. read more

For Athens, Georgia, this place is really something special. A fantastic new addition to downtown, a property where they've really done something incredible, so incredible. It's connected to a convention/meeting space, with a beautiful new parking garage. The staff were friendly. The public areas large, but welcoming, immaculately clean and smelling fresh. They've done so many things right at this hotel that other hotels in town just don't get, and it's not like this is a full service brand. This is a very casual hotel for business travelers, Bulldogs fans, and students/faculty with business at the university. Their website boasts of a 20-minute walk, and that seems about right to campus. Sanford Stadium and Tate Center were maybe a 2-5 minute drive depending on traffic volume. I suspect this would be a good property for leisure travelers and families and anyone needing to host a small to medium (almost large scale) event with the spaces they have available. My guest room was comfortable and clean and smelling very neutral. The bathroom was fine for me, but work colleagues complained of the quality of lighting. I personally had no problem with the lighting at all. My only issues were suboptimal WiFi speeds (it's free for all), and the traffic signal at the parking garage not working. Otherwise, a really great stay, a really special new hotel addition to Athens, and a property I hope I can return to visit in the very near future. read more

There was a number restriction of people and as 2 people left they skipped Over our party of 4 and sat folks that wer where maybe 5 min. I was pissed. The women seating was a bitch and very unfriendly. They insisted we wear a mask as we went to our table yet there were folks walking all over the place taking pictures and such --social distancing was not enforced other than walking initially to your table ---I will not be back --And I live here. we visited the rooftop bar for the first time last night for a quick dinner before a concert and when we were about halfway done with our food - the bottom fell out and it started raining like crazy!!! the bartenders all grabbed our food and immediately lead us inside through the staff entrance and down to the lobby. they also brought us warm towels to dry off with! the service, food, and the drinks were great! we will definitely be back! read more

It happens, but when you get a patronizing, supercilious front desk guy that wants you to understand that the overnight guests are secondary to the new guests coming into rooms being vacated, I'm not impressed. We were mixed about this location. The hotel staff was great and so were the folks that ran the morning breakfast. In fact breakfast was awesome. Our issues were with the crew at the rooftop bar. Not friendly and not helpful. They had no working TV for sports and on a cold night said every single patio heater was broken. They as we sat at the bar the crew sprayed and cleaned the shelves at the bar and bantered over inventory. Like many other guests we took our food to good so that it did not taste like window cleaner. read more

I stayed at this hotel in mid-May, as I was attending a three-day conference at the adjacent Classic Center and this was the designated hotel. Check-in was quick and all of my interactions with the staff were positive. The hotel is still fairly new and everything was clean and welcoming from the lobby to my room. Breakfast was free if you join their world of Hyatt rewards program (it's free and quick to sign-up for). There was a wide selection of breakfast items from hot items to cereal/yogurt. The hotel doesn't have a pool and parking was an extra $10 fee per day, but those were the only downsides I encountered. read more

It was a great stay until my tall friend and I got into that elevator. We were in there for an hour before anything started to happen to get us out. Insane!!! The manager didn't want to call the fire department and instead wanted to call the manufacturer all the way from Atlanta. That was going to take another 35 minutes to just get the manufacturer to the elevator. That is when we called the fire department ourselves and they were able to get us out in 15 minutes. Those firemen weren't bad too look at either!!! Fire department 10/10 however the Hyatt will be receiving 1/10 stars from me. read more

We had the same experience as Dustin L. We had booked a month prior and 24 hours before check in we got the call. Once we made it to Athens, we did not stay in the hotel the Hyatt wanted to book us in, we heard from several different people they were filming a show in the hotel. It was parent's weekend for several different groups and we quickly realized the Hyatt had canceled many reservations without clear reasoning. It was incredibly unprofessional. this is one of the most enjoyable and pleasant hotel experiences I've ever had. Besides the mesmerizing artwork, classy yet laidback vibe, the cleanliness, awesome location, affordable and delicious food/drinks, it was the staff that made our stay so enjoyable. All the staff were super friendly, but the ones I probably annoyed the most were Ashley and Angel at the front desk, and Jessica and Eric working the bar...all of them went above and beyond to make me and their other guest comfortable... They were so patient with my needy and oblivious a**! Super personable and extremely accommodating. My social anxiety makes me super awkward and hard to communicate w at times, but with these folks - I felt completely comfortable and not judged for being a Dingus and looking like a dirty hillbilly. It was refreshing not to feel like a burden by a staff, for once. Good customer service is something I cherish the mess out of and hard to come by these days..So I give this place a 12 out of 10.. The Hyatt is a really nice hotel but I would not recommend staying here or even applying to work there. The General Manager does NOT care about any of the employees and treats them horribly. Does not care about the guests. I applied as a front desk agent and they told me when I got hired that I have to help out at breakfast. After two weeks of working breakfast I began to realize I was being taken advantage of. When I asked the General Manger when I'd start training for front desk she said "about 8 weeks." I was honestly shocked. I won't go into further detail but this company really does overwork everyone and takes advantage of them - no matter what position you work. Everyone ends up quitting. They are so understaffed and now I understand why. I worked there for maybe 2 weeks and have honestly never seen worse management. So unorganized and chaotic 24/7. Do NOT waste your time with this hotel. Would not recommend staying there or working there. If I could give it 0/5 stars I would. To the management at this hotel currently- treat your employees better and maybe you'll actually have people that work there longer than a month. Your employees are miserable. To all the employees at this hotel currently- stand up for yourself! There are way better places to work- places where you'll actually get treated like a human being lol. Don't let this job get you down. Stay at literally any other hotel in Athens. read more
