Ayce sushi from nori sushi. A special one time event. In the metro area hyvees. Got my sushi fix on. Twenty bucks a person, definitely worth it. Pay before you eat n drink. Buffet style and also limited special requests on sushi. Looks like thier wednesday sushi special are a good deal too. Recommended! Staff was friendly, inviting n easy to talk to. Terrible service, if they can't find enough employees for the restaurant then shut the damn place down! I asked the lady upon ordering my meal if they had French vanilla creamer,she said she would bring some to my table. I had to ask a second time by the time she finally brought some out my coffee was very cold ( probably about 20 minutes) Seemed like the same lady was running the whole show. Not certain how many to-go orders were in the system but my order was 5 minutes late. Normally I would understand thinking they must be really busy, however I got to Hy-Vee early and waited. I saw no orders come for pickup and there were two couples waiting for their order. We had two separate selections, one order was pancakes and links sausage and the other order was eggs over easy, 2 sausage patties and regular bacon, not crispy, hashbrowns and one pancake. The eggs were not done correctly, runny whites, the bacon was over done as well, basically crispy as were the patties, which I had to cut with a steak knife to get past the hard crust. read more

This used to be a decent restaurant, for what it was. We stopped in today to grab a bite for lunch. They seem to have eliminated their wait staff. My wife ordered a hamburger (ahem, a Wahlburger). It arrived barely warm along with the similarly not hot tater tots. It's almost like the burgers are precooked and they are throwing them in the microwave just prior to serving. With no wait staff, there really wasn't a way to complain. We won't be back. read more

I have only visited here once. The complimentary popover was so tasty, unexpected and exciting although that arrived just before the food was sent out. I was surprised we had to wait so long to get popover. My friend asked for a water which was forgotten about but when the manager brought out the food the water was asked for again. Arrived and was told there was no order- it must have taken a few moments to come over. Not a biggie- the was told about 15 minutes which ended up being a lot longer. Food quality was just not very good in our opinion. Ordered the nachos with chicken, the cheese sauce was gross and reminded me and tasted like vomit. Received a ton of that too. Everything comes in containers for you to throw on top of the super salty chips. The salsa was meh- everything was just kind of Sysco tasting. The kids chicken tenders were pretty much all breading. Not a ton of chicken. They were huge, but so much breading. The spicy thai chicken peanut chicken sandwich was okay, kind of drenched in sauce. I tasted the chicken part which was good. Running errands on an early Saturday afternoon. I popped into the Market Grille to get my nephews a kids meal to-go. You can't beat the price of 2.99 for chicken, fries, a beverage, and a cookie! He really enjoys the fries. The hostess was friendly and took my order right away. There seemed to be issues with the register as there was difficulty with keying in my order. It took 25 minutes for 1 kids meal to-go . Patience is a virtue but myyyyyy goodness. Perhaps next time I will order ahead to not have to deal with the wait! I see the Market Grille offers various specials throughout the week including; unlimited fries, happy hour, brunch, etc... I will check out one of those specials during my next visit. read more

So Wednesdays are half off sushi and bottles of wine which is a pretty compelling combination. And we've gone for this maybe six or so times since the place opened but honestly we're never going back based on the last experience. In the past the food has been mixed ranging from mediocre to not great but the sushi was always good. Service has always been spotty, sometimes great, just haphazard. The wait was a little long but there was seating at the bar. We ordered drinks, a couple rolls and a sandwich for my sushi-averse better half. Sushi comes out about a half hour later, it's fine but nothing special. We ask about the sandwich and oops they forgot to order it. Ask again 15 minutes later and are told that "it's way back there" in the order queue. Huh. Having worked in foodservice myself - though a long time ago - that is just a bad answer. There should always be a way to put a rush on an order when something goes wrong and if there isn't, what the hell are you doing back there? We ended up getting the check and leaving. I get that the bartender was busy, he was. But, HyVee Market Grille Manager guy if you're reading this, get the guy some dang help. When the ladies at the cheese counter know you by name, you know you go to HyVee too often! We recently just went back to the Market Grille after an extended hiatus. I had previously gone during a Twins game, and their special at the time was a hot dog with onions and peppers. I guess in my mind I was thinking more like a coney dog, with diced onions and spicy pickled peppers, but sadly it was sauteed onions and green peppers, which weren't seasoned. Thus, the 6-7 month hiatus. That being said, I've enjoyed the Grille every other time we've been. We decided to randomly go in, and lo and behold they had endless crab legs. It was great, and it was only $19.99. I would guess that I couldn't have purchased them from the store side for that cheap, and I didn't even have to clean up! Bonus! They have a fantastic bloody mary bar on Sunday morning. It has bacon, shrimp, assorted meat sticks, and the server basically hands you a plate for you to load up all your "toppings". Would I like 6 strips of bacon and some shrimp for breakfast? Why yes. Care for some more beef sticks? Why yes. Best deal at $9 for unlimited bloodies. I don't know that there is one particular dish that stands out to me, except for the maple wontons. Deeeelish. Get them. They have specials going all the time, such as half price sushi night, kids eat free night, burger night, etc. It is a pretty good deal too, so you can have a meal out without breaking the bank. After second time eating here, I don't think I'll be back any time soon. I came here a few Saturdays ago. It was after 4 or 5pm when we arrived, which was during their Happy Hour. We each ordered a beer and a flatbread. I also ordered a side of their steamed broccoli for $3. The beer and flatbread were alright, but that $3 side of broccoli consisted of a typical "soup cup" - there was maybe a palm full of vegetable contained within - and two pieces had unappealing/unappetizing brown spots on them. When our server came by, I shared with her the unappealing broccoli and she apologized and offered to bring me other serving. I accepted her offer and thanked her for doing so. A few minutes later another side of broccoli arrived and all pieces appeared without icky brown spots. I ate it all up. Within an hour of leaving this place, my stomach began feeling unwell, making weird sounds, and soon thereafter, I was feeling nauseous, a feeling which continued on into the evening and later included diarrhea (which continued on into the following day). Wondered whether I got hit with some of that "kitchen revenge"... I don't care to try my luck there again. read more

Three stars but ALMOST four. It is very nice inside. Good service. Really big portions. Great wine selection, really, and I would totally try their beer and cocktails, as they have a nice happy hour 12 to 6. Why three stars? Because my Monto Cristo was limp and so were my fries. And they weren't more than barely warm. That just isn't okay. I brought most of it home for my three dogs. But we had sushi as an appetizer and it was terrific. So I think, if they can start consistently getting the food out when it is hot, this would be a lovely place to grab dinner and chill. Half price sushi and bottles of wine on Wednesdays, which is a very good deal. BTW the attached grocery store is awesome. UPDATE: Why does the wait staff practically chase you out of the joint? I subtracted a star because our waitress took our order for sushi, practically grabbed the dishes before they were empty, and had the bill to us before I had swallowed the last bit. We were informed when we were seated and again when we were served our drinks that the kitchen was taking about 25 minutes for food, which we were fine with. But then the bartender never returned to take our order. The food is really good, but the service is always spotty. I hope they can get it figured out. read more

We came to the HyVee grocery store to shop and ended up having about 45 minutes to get breakfast in the Market Grill. It is a separate space that is a full service restaurant. The decor is nice and has a full bar with TVs for a sports bar type feel. It was not busy but we waited 10 minutes for a table. We took a few minutes to look over the menus and order. It took 20 minutes to get our food. Seems like a long wait for breakfast. We ordered omelets and toast. So we ended up with 5 minutes to eat. The food was very basic and tasted fine. No added spices or flavors and heavy on the butter. The manager bought our breakfast because it took so long. That was very honorable to compensate us that way. Even if we didn't have the bad wait experience, I would have given this place 3 stars at best. The food is not any better than average. I may give it another shot and try one of the Eggs Benedict dishes. Maybe there is more flavor to be found there. read more

Lady---a smile and a "thanks for waiting" doesn't take a ton. And neither does making brief but meaningful eye contact. Finally getting our seat, I did enjoy my wine and my appetizers and my salmon with mango salsa but it wasn't anything out of this world. I would give it another try, though. I've been here a few times now and in general really like it. I got the loaded mac and cheese with crab meat and it was above average. What stands out for me are the soups. I've had a broccoli, and another time a potato, both cream. I gobble these up and they give you a generous portion. It can be served instead of a salad, when offered with no up-charge. Service, some better than others with the disappearing acts. I usually come here before shopping. They have a lot of TVs all on different stations. read more

I've eaten here twice, and I must admit I've been surprised. I wasn't expecting a grocery-store restaurant to be as good as this place, but it is a good destination for a lunch during the work day. The food is at the right temperature and attractively served on various dishes. The restaurant is clean and well-decorated. The service is attentive and up-beat. It has a very up-scale feel to it, though it isn't necessarily an expensive place, and the kinds of food you get are pretty standard. One feature I do like is that they give nutrition information with their items. You feel like an informed consumer when you read the menu. You have booth and table seating options, and there is a counter or bar as well. It is an enjoyable place to eat; if anything they lose by having TVs up, as that gives a sports-bar vibe which conflicts with the classier feel of the furnishings and plates. I'd definitely eat here again, and when I have co-workers who aren't craving any particular place, this is a good choice for quality food. read more

We've been here a number of times and the food is outstanding. It's beautifully presented and it's always delicious. On Tuesday nights, kids eat free. They had a pizza bar and then some hot entrees. My little guy was really excited to build his own pizza AND get some French fries. I had the sesame chicken which is always delicious. It comes with either a wonton or an eggroll and soup and the entrée itself is huge. All for $10. The first time we came, I thought it was a little too expensive, but with the amount and quality of food they serve, it's actually right in line. We ordered wings as an appetizer, but that was overkill. If you're going for dinner, skip the apps. Enjoy the free popovers instead. The restaurant is lovely inside and there are a number of TVs with all different channels on (not all sports, which is really nice!). The beer selection is pretty big and it was only $6 for a huge mug of Lagunitas (24-25 ounces?). The service can be a little hit or miss. We've never had rude service, but more a problem of someone being new and forgetting us or parts of our orders. Also, it can be really cold in there so try to get a table or booth away from the front doors if you tend to chill easily. read more

They just opened in September so we've been waiting for the hoopla to die down before trying this place. We stopped in last night with a friend and were pleased overall, though they have some kinks to work on. We waited at the bar for a table. My lady friends both had a glass of vino from the nice wine list. I opted for a Hendricks Martini. The barkeep had never made one so I had to guide her through it and made sure she didn't garnish it with olives - only cucumbers garnish my Hendricks! My only gripe with the bar is that while sitting there, you can look right out into the supermarket - not too classy. At the table we ordered a bruschetta appetizer which came out surprisingly fast. After that the waitress seemed to forget about taking our meal order. She stopped back later and apologized for forgetting us and took the order. Both my dining companions had grilled scallops with grilled vegies on the side. A lovely presentation and there were no complaints from either of them. I had the grilled Ahi Tuna over rice. They were clearly previously frozen filets - tasty nonetheless. Good food all around. An overall good experience. I expect service will improve with time. I'm so glad there is now a place in Oakdale where you can get a glass of wine and some good food other than pub grub. But I do wish the would build some kind of foyer or blind so that you don't feel like you are drinking and eating in a supermarket. read more

Ordered the "Hywaian" burger. There was a LOT of long, fine, dark hair in the food. It was caked all around the candy-coated bacon. I actually ingested a bite and chewed it all the way and swallowed it. Then with hair trailing out of my mouth I searched the rest of the burger. It was a wad of hair. No way you could leave this much of you in anything you cooked without it being purposeful. My mother finished her Thai peanut chicken sandwich without event. I refused to eat another bite of anything after spitting out my hair burger. So I finished my shopping while she ate. Mojitos were good but we were carded, for some reason twice, by the waitress. My mom is over 70, so she was offended to have to be carded even once. I'm lucky I didn't start throwing chairs or something. So gross. Never eat here! read more

Went here around 7 p.m. on a Monday night for the all you can eat wings for ten bucks. Even though the place was half-empty, my friends and I were told we had about a 15 minute wait for a table (I don't think they had enough servers scheduled), so we went to the bar to order some beers. The bar had a good selection of Surly, the typical domestic taps and a huge assortment of wines. Decently priced at $4.50 for a 25 ounce beer. We all wound up ordering the all-you-can-eat wings special, which came with all you can eat fries as well. The waitress kindly came over and apologized for the wait on the wings as it took about 20 minutes for them to come out. The wings were about what you would expect from a grocery store Deli department-well maybe a tad bit better-but not terrible. They came out hot, fresh, and with plenty of sauce. The fries were actually really good, one of my friends actually wanted more of the fries than of the wings. After the first serving of wings and fries (about 8-10 wings total and a large side of fries) the all you can eat portion starts coming out in batches of four, which isn't a whole lot and it slowly kills the appetite. We didn't push the waitress to bring out more at a time or if this was a possibility. Overall, the place was about what I expected. The one good thing about this bar is how quiet it was. It was literally the quietist bar I have ever been into. Which is nice if you want to relax after work and just watch a game (they have a lot of tvs in there) in peace and quiet. The tranquility of the place truly stood out. After 8 p.m, all the appetizers are half off with drink specials as well. I will have to try some of the other appetizers before making a final judgement on this place. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday the place was nearly empty so we wasn't sure if it was have a seat or if there was a host/hostess so we waited, after about a minute a hostess showed up to seat us. I think we were forgotten about and were about a minute from leaving when Morgan showed . We came to eat this being the first visit expecting good service and food the initial service being poor the food and Morgan's service was excellent. The Hawaiian burgher arrived hot and was delicious as was the asparagus (yum), the custom order BLT had to be redone but the fries were good. I just had to try their food out in the restaurant. The food in the grocery store was tasty enough for me not to try it lol. The inside was nice in bright and didn't feel as crowded as you would in an apple bees or a TGIF. Which I don't like it being so dim anyway. It just makes me lazy after having my meal, so that's a plus for me. The waitress we had wasn't bad at all. I had the ribeye and my wife had the seared scallops with asparagus. I had my steak medium rare with wild rice and broccoli. My steak was cooked perfectly, and I mean purrffeeccttly! Most places always I mean always end up over cooking my steak so I was impressed and seasoning was just right. Had the nice grill marks and juice just running out of it saying eat me now hehe. The scallops my wife had was also cooked right on. The sauce I believe was a sriracha type soy and sweety flavour... almost like a teriyaki flavor with a kick that complimented the scallops nicely. I liked how their menu had different selections of food a in sushi, Mexican, American,pastas, and Asian(thai). All I know is I enjoyed my food, and ill probably prefer this than TGIF, or an Applebees. read more

On 1/19/2019 at around 5pm I went to Hy-Vee Market Grille to eat dinner. The food was ok, not great. The service was god awful, we were never asked for refills on our drinks, or how our food was tasting. Had to wait forever just to receive our food - at least 40 minuets. I got up to walk to the restroom, slipped and fell. Hitting my head on the corner of another table. The Hyvee Market Grille did absolutely nothing at all. Thank god for another couple helping me up as well as my boyfriend. If it wasn't for them - the staff would have just left me laying there knocked out. I was able to come to feeling very dizzy and dazed. My boyfriend was able to get me up to the bathroom and help clean me up. They wouldn't even call an ambulance for me. Currently I'm suffering a severe concussion, dislocated knee, several bumps and burses. I called to speak to the Hyvee Market Grille Manager the next day hoping to file a incident report. For the simply fact that I did really get hurt. I was put on hold, then tried explaining my story and they slammed the phone down and hung up on me. This happened twice. Excruciatingly Disappointed. Went to the Hy-Vee Market Grille on Tuesday night about 7 PM--$8 burger and unlimited fries/tots. Heard about it on the radio. I'll summarize below: *Understaffed everywhere--not enough wait staff nor enough kitchen staff. *Inattentive--zero interaction with staff unless you flag them down. Had to suspend conversation to catch someone's attention vs. them asking if we needed anything. *Delay, delay, delay--40 minutes for a burger? C'mon. 90 seconds a side and plate the food! *Dishonor of the deal--at no time were additional fries or tots provided, no inquiry if needed. It's as if they gave up for the night. *Food over-done. Medium ordered comes out as medium-well. *Dirty glassware--beer glass had soapy taste on it. *Bartender apologized, and it had no merit--was scripted. I really wanted this place to be like Hy-Vee overall, but sadly it is not. HyVee was a great experience for me, until last night. Now I am not sure they will make it with this restaurant-attached-to-store concept. read more

The food and prices are good. The service is spotty. The manager did come around and asked how the food was, which is great. But the server brought the bill soon after bringing the food. She never came by the table, I had to ask for drink refills and for a dessert menu. I ordered a dessert so then she had to take the bill back. Once I was ready to pay the bill I noticed that the appetizer I ordered was overcharged, the menu has one price but I was charged more for it. I call the server over and told her, as she was going to get a menu to verify I could see she was making gestures and then said something to the hostess. I decided to get up and walk over there, she had menu in hand and I showed her where she overcharged me. She took the bill back and corrected it. Be aware of what they are charging you in correct. We ate at the Easter Buffet...AYCE prime rib, made-to-order eggs benedict and omelets, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, egg bakes, potatoes O'Brien, bisquits and sausage gravy, desserts, and more INSIDE the restaurant, PLUS you get the Asian buffet, Italian buffet, salad bar and "Kitchen" food (this is part of the row of mini-food bars along the restaurant) with your buffet! The food was all excellent, and the servers were great. Highly recommend it, and will be returning for Mother's Day brunch buffet too. They have an AYCE Sunday Brunch Buffet every week, but I don't know if it is this extensive every Sunday (I'm thinking it is). So much food, we ate brunch at 1 p.m. and didn't eat again for the rest of the day. :) read more

I love this place! I went home from Houston, TX for a visit in June/July and it was nice to see the staff Danni and Chris's friendly faces and great customer service!
