We were staying in a nearby hotel and stopped in. The surrounding area has very upper middle class shops, and this grocery store is likewise nicer than the standard grocery store. I went straight to the cheese counter, which had a very nice selection of domestic and imported cheeses. I bought a number to take home. The Liberty store folks have a challenge with phone orders. On three (3) occasions, I have submitted phone orders online only to discover, when I arrive to pick-up the order, nothing has even begun! visited Market Grille Bar with my friends to watch the Missouri Basketball Game. Unfortunately, we had the worst service experience we've ever had at Hy Vee. Isabelle, the server, seemed more interested in chatting with her coworker and huddling in the corner with her friends & playing on their phones than in taking care of us. Our food arrived without silverware, and she never returned to ask if we wanted another drink. One of our party members never received any service at all. Isabelle promised to come back, but she never did. When we all looked at our tabs, I ask him how much his was, he said $0, she never came back & took my order. This experience is a stark contrast to the great service we used to get at Market Grille Bar. The night bartender knew our names and made sure we were well-cared for. We felt like valued customers, not a burden to Isabelle's social life. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to Market Grille Bar. read more

I just relocated here from Portland Oregon. I had my favorite stores there and have been visiting most stores in the Liberty area. HyVee comes as close as any to one of my previous favorites. I find the store clean, well stocked, the employees very friendly and helpful as well. I really like the deli too. Moreover, I've never seen a store that had an Asian grill as does HyVee's Market Grille Express. I've read recent reviews and seen people complain about the Market Grille... What's not to love? The service is proficient and expedient, the food delish and reasonably priced. I'll agree that the store is expansive but expansive is what's needed given the selection they house. We feel like the produce is overpriced for the poor quality. What we dislike the most is the terrible training among the teenage cashiers and baggers. Consistently the cashiers struggle to identify basic produce and often seem to embarrassed to ask for help. I appreciate that local teens cut their teeth working at HyVee but maybe, just maybe managers could teach them how to now to not launch items from the register down the conveyor belt. We have always been fans of the Hy Vee Market grill. Always good food and drinks and the daily specials were always a good deal. We went in tonight to learn this location has been changed to an "Express" market grill. The menu is very limited now and it's basically a food court, you order a cash register and your food is brought to you. Normally my favorite grocery store in the Liberty/Shoal Creek area. BUT....this remodel is insane in my opinion. They've added a large "spa products" area which seems silly. I'm at Hy-Vee to buy GROCERIES. The grocery products are all over the place and even the employees have no idea where some items are. I'm also a little concerned with the noticeable increase of self checkout stations. I'm going to take a little hiatus and try again in a week or two. I've been here a number of times to buy food either for a team potluck or some other event. I just couldn't check in because this wasn't even on Yelp. lol I meant to write this review about 4 months ago but I forgot to do it. They had what looked like a food court which was near the deli area. I'm not sure but I did see seats and tables to sit down. The bakery had some pretty good-looking cakes as well as other goodies. The place was very clean and organized. The prices looked low but I can't really compare it because I had nothing to compare it to (maybe Target's price? lol). We used the HyVee bakery for doughnuts for my daughter's wedding reception. I had taste tested a local doughnut shop that had been recommended and the doughnuts looked terrible and tasted worse (on a Saturday AM! ). I ended up at HyVee and with personal previous bakery experience myself knew the doughnuts looked great. They tasted as good as they looked! So I let my daughter know we needed to use HyVee. I made numerous calls to cateering as we worked out details. Always friendly! The delivery driver found us! The doughnuts looked gorgeous and were a huge hit!! This location has gone from 5 to 0 over the past few years. Inventory sucks. We use chopped dates, for example. Never in the store in the past 3 or 4 years. Tried to buy plain old vanilla ice cream, either Hagen Daz or Blue Bell. Not available. Wanted Clorox wipes. Not available. Wanted Lifes Savers candies, none available (just gummies). Had a prescription...nobody waiting, but it took an hour to fill. This is just a sampling. If we try the aisles on line service, we get lots of out of stock (even tho the web site show item as in stock) or a frequent message asking for subs from our shopper. Ok, maybe kinda weird to review a grocery store, but the people here were so friendly and helpful I had to write something. In from out of town and needed to stop in a pick up a few items for a party. I asked an associate where something was and she was kind enough to walk me to the item. Not a big deal to some people, but when you are in the retail industry you take notice to the little things. Huge store, amazing variety of prepared food options, and very friendly service. Also, there was a gentleman that works in the floral department (I don't remember his name, sorry!), but he was such a delight! You could tell he really enjoys his job. I really like Hy Vee in general, but this one is so nicely laid out. I loved the big grand opening sale they had and trudged there in snow and ice to take advantage of it. I'd do it again too! The employees are very helpful at this location and my usual location in Gladstone. Whatever hiring practice they've used to get these super friendly, knowledgable people is working. I ran in on my way to Ginger Sue's yesterday morning because I realized I had forgotten my allergy meds. As you may have read in my Ginger Sue's review, I promised to take my meds and order the bacon. We swung in and I found the much needed loratidine for 2.99!! What? Man that's a good price. This Hy-Vee is still just a couple years old so it follows the them of new stores - concrete floors, open plan, separate liquor department, good variety of healthy options. There are two grocery stores in the Liberty area (actually, there are three - there's another Price Chopper on the Southeast end, but it's way over there), Price Chopper at 35 and 291, and this Hy-Vee in the more central area in the Liberty Triangle. Both are equally easy to get in and out of, each has its advantages and those advantages are probably so specific to my shopping habits, it doesn't make sense to note them here. The bottom line is that if you like Hy-Vee, go to Hy-Vee, if you like Price Choppers, go 3/4 of a mile up the street to Price Chopper. read more

I'm over the moon with this Hy-Vee bakery. Long story long: Last Friday was my daughter's first birthday and two weeks before the party day, I went to Target in liberty and ordered a specialized cupcake spread into a 1 and a smash cake. Day of party it was supposed to be there ready by 7am. I went to pu at 10am and they NEVER made it! The party was at 6pm and now I had nothing for it! I called the Hy-Vee bakery minutes after leaving Target in tears and they were quick to answer and transfer me to the bakery. I wish I had gotten the name of the cake decorator I talked to. I told her my story and when the party was. She asked me to describe my vision and without ANY hesitation said she could have it ready by 4! I showed up 3:30 (to shop for a few other things but also just to see if it was done) and it was in fact done! This Hy-Vee and their bakery saved my party! I got so many compliments on the cake, it couldn't have turned out more perfect and I am SO SO greatful! We will be back and tell everyone about this amazing bakery. A friend told me, "It'll change your life!" She was RIGHT!! Aisles On-line is the way to go for easy, efficient grocery shopping! There is a small fee for orders less than $100, but no charge for orders over $100. Previous purchases are saved and it's easy to re-order frequently purchased items. I always choose the option to allow for substitutions if my chosen item is out, and that's actually a great way to get introduced to other items you might not have otherwise tried. The delivery drivers are always friendly and professional. I have gone from dreading grocery shop to looking forward to it (mostly because I can be lazy and do it in my PJs in bed!). I have regained at least 3 hours of my life every week by not having to fight crowds and wait in lines at the store. My back appreciates the reprieve from not having to load and unload the groceries! Also, they now offer Simple Fix meals in the prepared food section. Think Hy-Vee's version of Home Chef or Hello Fresh. I'm lovin' me some Hy-Vee and all the thoughtful, efficient little things they have brought to the world of grocery shopping. My problems are not really about slow service but service in general, that was my best option. I placed my first ever order for AOL, pick up was scheduled for Friday 5-6pm. I received a text letting me know it would be late and not to come pick up until they notified me. I called to see how late because some of the items were for our dinner that night. I was told 730-8, yes kind of odd to say 730. ‍. I canceled the order because I needed some of those items sooner obviously. I was told the funds would be returned back to my card in about 24hrs by Jo. On Monday I made a 2nd attempt at trying AOL with pick up for Tuesday 8-9pm, late but that's on my way home from work. I received another text about working on orders, orders would be filled by 8am. Again that wouldn't have worked because I needed some of those items to start preparing things when I got home for the next day. I tried calling to check on my order. I sat on hold for 9 minutes and 42 secs before I had to hang up for work. I called again, on hold 6 + minutes before being disconnected. Finally got through to someone on my 3rd call and 8 minutes on hold. My order would be ready pretty close to time. And I mentioned to them I still had not been refunded my funds of $200+ from Friday. I know find out 5-7 days, that's what they should have told me to begin with. I pick up my order after waiting in line for more than an hour, ok I understand being busy. I get home at a bit after 10pm and 1/3 of my order is missing, items I needed. I call and was told to leave my name & number or call back when the manager would be in, after 6am. I can not recall the name they gave me, Valerie or Mallory maybe. I called and was passed around a couple times and then was told I would need to leave my name and number, "someone will call you later." Needless to say, I won't be going there again. I go pass 2 Price Choppers because I like this store. I even used them for a $500 catering order for a birthday party once, that truly was a great experience. However, I won't be using them for our upcoming 2 events. I guess I have to wait and see what happens as for a reimbursement, update to follow. read more

Once again, bad produce. I paid $3 for two grapefruits and $2 for an Ugli fruit, Very disapointed in all three fruits. The Ugli was dry and hard inside. Not what they are supposed to be like when fresh. The grapefruits went to a new level. The first one was dried out and juiceless inside. The second one did not last a week. I found a huge rotten spot on the side that was not there when I bought it. A grapefruit that can't last a week? Means that it was not fresh in the first place. Also as a fervent citrus lover, I never had a grapefruit rot after I bought it. I plan to shop Sprouts and Target for produce from now on. read more

I ordered flowers for a friend that were supposed to be delivered to their house. I called to check on the flowers because there had been no updates made when I signed into my Hy-Vee online account. The lady that I spoke with explained that the flowers were back at the store because the delivery driver said the road was too narrow and she was worried about damaging the van. I had to go to the store to pick up the flowers and make the delivery myself, which defeats the entire purpose. When I got to the store, the flowers I was given looked NOTHING like what I had ordered. I had even bumped up the amount I spent to make sure it was a big, full bouquet. I understand that I had chosen florist choice, but I thought that would mean that the types of flowers might be exchanged based on what was in season or available. They bouquet I ordered was in a tall vase and very full. The flowers I received were is a short, wide vase. The flowers were a let down since there were so many buds. What really irritates me, is if I hadn't had to deliver them myself, I wouldn't have known how terrible the flowers looked. They definitely were not worth the amount of money I spent on them. My husband, who handles things much differently than I do, called to get the delivery fee back. After being told repeatedly that they had attempted to deliver so there would be no refund, he finally got to a manager and explained that there was no reason to pay the delivery fee when we ended up having to make the delivery. Throughout the whole experience, we received three different versions as to why the flowers had not been delivered. All in all, one of the worst consumer experiences I have ever had. I have went to this store for the last 18 years. i use to love going shopping here everyone was friendly, management and cashiers and the store was great. coming from california it was a whole new experience to feel this small town friendly store. I have to say the last year has been awful the changes that have been made this store is just like Walmart with the self check out now, theres hardly any cashiers, the lines are so long. everything is jammed together. I don't recognize anyone from the previous times i have gone i was told the other day by a employee that "they cant keep people" i guess all the old employees have left. i called today to ask how much the flu shots are and hours. i was put on hold then when i finally reached the pharmacy they hung up on me!! i am truly disappointed in this store. read more
