After a humdrum Saturday, as a date night idea, my husband and I researched butcher shops and found this place. What a find! This place has so many meat and seafood options for sale and a restaurant. Chilean sea bass was on the fresh today menu. We decided to treat ourselves. Everyone in the restaurant/store was so nice! We tried out the restaurant. My husband had the "Mariah's Badass Boss Burrito." It has lobster, crab, shrimp, and Wagyu steak. He ordered fries, which were unfortunately doggy. He said the burrito was good. I had the Teal Tide steak wrap. First of all, that "wrap" was massive. I would call it a burrito more than a wrap, ha ha. It has grilled Wagyu steak, feta cheese, beef bacon, crispy onion straws, and blueberry-jalapeño bacon jam on a rosemary tortilla. I ordered mine without the onion straws. The steak was flavorful and tender and the blueberry-jalapeño bacon jam is addicting! I ordered a side of their coleslaw and it is one of the best coleslaw recipes I've ever eaten!!! The next night, I cooked the Chilean sea bass using an online recipe for both of us. Talk about treating oneself: the filets didn't taste frozen. They were buttery and rich!!! So good!!! My husband and I were super excited to check this place out over the weekend. Staff: friendly and helpful staff Food: order a head if you are in a hurry. They make everything for scratch and you can tell. Meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Probably over kill on the amount of onions but still delicious. Only downside is the price. $20 for cheese burger but it is wagyu beef. Fries were good but a tad over seasoned. You pay for any added topping included ketchup for your fries. 4 star food, 3 star pricing and wait time. I'm not one to complian about pricing much but $31 for just this sandwich and small side is discouraging when compared to available options in the city. I thought the brisket sandwich was fairly tasty, but it wasn't huge, the onions weren't carmelized they were grilled, and the brisket wasn't smokey. The Mac and cheese was fine and good but not great. If I lived closer and I could get the above with a soda for $20-23, I would give it 4 stars. There's nothing amazing about it to earn 5 stars even if it were priced like I wish. The place wasn't that busy, but with one register running, 4 people in line, and ringing up 2 butcher orders that came in after I was there, it took me about 12 minutes to place the order and another 20 to have my sandwich and side. read more

Attended their yearly farm to table experience held at their actual farm and it was incredible! The pond, the horse waiting to greet us, everything felt so intentional and it was great to walk into their barn (with AC) to the most beautiful decorations, table scapes and awards all over the walls. Just as good as the videos make it seem! Found this place through their YouTube/Facebook videos, and couldn't resist! Had to get down to Liberty, to give them a try, and SO glad we did! First off, it is NOT your typical restaurant! It is actually a butcher shop that now makes food. Secondly, do not expect fast food! Each order is made fresh, so it takes time! But that leads to the third point, this is among the best quality food out there! Again, the videos didn't lie! I had the loaded fries, (HUGE) and onion rings, which were delicious, as well as way more than enough for at least 2 people (and I'm not a small guy). I had brisket on 1/2 and shrimp on the other 1/2 with queso cheese. Both meats were tender, and flavorful, as was the queso. It is very easy to believe that the fries are fresh cut each day, as they were nearly perfect. My wife had the surf, and turf quesadilla, and the chips and jalapeño popper dip. The quesadilla was equally delicious. The flavors of each item compliments the others perfectly. The popper dip has a pretty strong kick, so she wasn't a fan, but I really enjoyed it. We also got the brisket Rangoon, which I had only 1 issue, and that was that there weren't enough! I could make myself miserable on these things! They were AMAZING! Miranda said that they are new, so it is possible that they will figure out some miracle way to improve lol. The service was top notch, everyone was helpful and super friendly! What an absolute gem this place is. The food is not cheap but what it is for sure is amazing. You definitely get what you pay for. The Prime Time prime rib sandwich was the best sandwich I've ever eaten in KC and the mac and cheese was out of this world. The place was spotless and customer service was fast and super-friendly. I was also very fortunate to meet the owner and her lovely grandmother. I was very impressed by both of them. Not only by their kindness and the effort they put into making 100% sure I was happy with everything but the fact that they are there every day all day long working alongside their employees overseeing things to ensure that their business is being ran at an optimal level. I was so excited to try The Upper Cut after seeing them all over Facebook. The meat was tender with great flavor, and the food itself is definitely fresh. However... the prices are no joke. Don't expect to walk in and leave without spending at least $30 for a sandwich, a side, and a drink. The selection is great, the atmosphere is very nice, and the staff was amazing! But even considering the freshness, dear lord--the prices are crazy. Compared to other places like Nadler's, the difference is huge. Honest review. This place is not worth it. 1. Do NOT get the Chiefsteak. My husband orders these everywhere we go and he is an easy to please type of guy so when he looked and me and said this was the worst he has ever had, I had to try it myself because it "looked" great. But omg he was right. I don't know how they managed it, but there was absolutely no flavor whatsoever in the meat no beefy flavor no cheesy flavor no salt no nothing. All you could really taste are the onions and peppers. Hours later he was still talking about his disappointment. 2. The pastrami was OK. The pastrami did have good flavor. However, my sandwich was overwhelmed with the cabbage mixture and there were many parts of the sandwich that did not have any meat on it. In New York City the famous Katz deli you can get a pastrami sandwich loaded for $28 in NYC. Considering this is a $20 sandwich in Liberty MO, there's no reason for them to skimp on the pastrami. 3. I was there with my parents and my husband on a Saturday where they do a buy three sandwiches get a free plain burger, free, which was perfect because that's exactly what my father ordered when I mentioned to the cashier that we wanted to utilize that special, he got really annoyed and said well if you want that, I'm gonna have to re-ring everything back in and I said well yes that's what we want and he acted very annoyed by this. 4. After seeing countless recommendations for The Upper Cut KC in Liberty, we decided to give it a try for dinner. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. My husband, daughter, and I arrived around 5:00 PM and placed our order at 5:13 PM. Despite there being no lines and the restaurant not appearing busy, we didn't receive half of our food until 5:50 PM. My loaded fries weren't even ready and I had to wait another 10 minutes while everyone else was already eating. While waiting, I reviewed our receipt and was shocked by the upcharges. My daughter ordered the $12.99 mac and cheese kids meal, and the employee asked if she wanted ranch and ketchup. We said yes, assuming they came with the meal. Instead, we were charged $1.00 for a tiny cup of ranch and $0.50 for three packets of ketchup. We didn't request extras, they offered them. We were also charged $5.98 for two inexpensive bottled waters (bulk Sam's Club) and an unbelievable $7.99 for a single cookie. The kids meal itself was especially disappointing. When they finally set down the tiny container of mac and cheese, I couldn't believe the portion size. It was shockingly small for nearly $13, and the meal didn't even include a drink. I'll attach a photo because words don't do it justice. As for the food itself, it was average at best. My husband's $22.99 sandwich was underwhelming and not nearly as loaded with meat as you'd expect for that price. My $22.99 loaded fries consisted mostly of fatty meat scraps and were nothing special. By the time everything was said and done, we spent $82.51 plus a $5 tip. For nearly $90, we could have gone to a steakhouse and enjoyed better food, better service, and better value. Don't let the viral videos and Facebook/instagram hype fool you. Between the excessive upcharges, long wait, small portions, and mediocre food, this place simply wasn't worth the money. We won't be back. read more

Upper Cut is a prime butcher shop, serving incredible sandwiches and sides. On our next visit, we got to buy some Akaushi prime beef for home. When we entered the restaurant, they have about six tables for those of us who want to savor the food right from the kitchen. Having checked out their website, this place serves huge, creative meat sandwiches. I narrowed the 10 sandwiches down to three (Royal Roast Beef, Big Chief BLT and The Kelce) and decided to go with the BLT. Although the prices range from $15.99 to $19.99, you are getting a huge sandwich. For many, it might be good for two meals. They have two sizes for the BLT, half a pound of bacon or a full pound. Since I love bacon, I went with the pound. The cashier said I might need to see a cardiologist after eating it. If I could make a suggestion, they should give you two sandwiches when you buy that much bacon. I never thought I could say this, but there was TOO MUCH bacon for one sandwich. But I will say this, the bacon is thick cut, smoky flavored and delish. The restaurant was pretty empty at 5:30pm on Tuesday, so I was surprised it took almost 25 minutes to prepare the sandwiches. I ordered fries with sandwich, but should have ordered their incredible Smoky Bacon Potato Salad. It has received rave reviews. I was surprised the restaurant doesn't cut your massive sandwich in half. The plastic knives and forks they provide aren't up to the challenge of the massive sandwiches. Visiting family and my husband got the roast beef sandwich with a side of baked beans. The sandwich was HUGE and delicious. The beans were good, with a lot od meat included. I had the cheesy corn which was surprisingly filling and complexly flavored. VERY GOOD. My parents had the prime rib and brisket sandwiches and each brought half home. It was worth the drive from Lee's Summit to Liberty to experience the best sandwich I have had in a very long time. I ordered the Prime Time. A guy in line said it was the best one and it didn't disappoint. The meat was very tender and tasty. With the added camelized onions and smoke mushrooms it was delicious. Holy cow... the LOBSTER ROLL.... I believe they have this the first week of every month, I would highly recommend it. I always try to hit the cousins main lobster food truck whenever it comes around my neighborhood, but the amount of lobster that you get at uppercut compared to that food truck is night and day. My girlfriend and I tried this establishment this evening. We arrived at a little after six in the evening they closed at seven. The menu is very large with lots of options. The staff was extremely friendly everyone from the person who took our order to the people that worked at the deli counter. The whole experience was top-notch. After ordering it took about 20 minutes to get our food and everything arrived hot and very tasty. I had a Wagyu burger and she had a sub sandwich. We tried the potato salad and the baked beans both were excellent. The baked beans were a little spicy, but not overpowering. The buns were had garlic and butter on them and the whole experience was very good. The seating is like eating inside a deli or maybe like a sub shop it's comfortable and you're not so close together that you feel like you're really in a conversation with the table next to you. On all this was a great night out and we would definitely recommend. Them being a deli they have lots of cut of meat that are available and we were thinking that this might be our place where we should get our meat going forward. I've got a hand it to Upper Cut, their social media team is absolutely killing it. I've lived in Johnson County for the bulk of my life, and I've never been to liberty. But because of the social media of this establishment, I finally decided to plan a day with my fiancé. We went up to Liberty and checked out Shoal Creek living history museum, old downtown liberty, and Belvoir winery, just so that we could try Upper Cut. We got there at about 12:45 on Saturday. It's a really big space with some area to eat in and tons of meat freezers for all your meat-related needs. Their menu is almost overwhelming just because everything looks incredible, but the portions are huge and it's not a cheap place to go for lunch so it's kind of just weighing what you want to eat because ordering for two people even seems extreme just because of the size of the meals. Ultimately we landed on splitting the Meme's million dollar burger with fries and a side of green beans. I will admit it took a really long time for the food to come out, probably half an hour. But it means they're making everything fresh. We were getting a little bit impatient, so don't go when you're absolutely starving, at least at lunch hour, you know maybe go earlier or later. But once the food came out, we were really impressed. It was a massive burger, very easy to share, from a portion perspective. A bit of a mess to share when you cut it apart lol. The burger was insanely delicious. And the fries tasted like they were cooked in beef tallow. I would say the green beans were a weak point, in hindsight, I should've gotten coleslaw. But I've just been trying to balance out my less nutritional dense meals with at least some greens or a vegetable/fruit. But if you're somebody who loves a canned green bean, you would love this, they added some really tasty pieces of beef bacon in there so I guess I would say just know before you order the green beans that they aren't fresh yummy haricot very, they are canned green beans that they doctor up. I don't say this is a criticism necessarily, but I was hoping for a little bit more nutritional option when I ordered that and I didn't really get that. But we loved the food and if we can find more reasons to get to liberty, we would definitely go back. But from where I live in Overland Park, it's at least half an hour to get there, probably closer to 45 minutes. But definitely worth it if you can figure out a day trip to Liberty like we did. read more

I was in town for work and this place was highly recommended to me. The outrageous menu and great reviews meant I had to come check it out. I wanted to try as much as I could, figuring I could save some for dinner. I ordered a couple of sandwiches. I don't know what everyone is talking about, maybe I am just queen big back, but I was able to eat like a sandwich and a half plus the sides with no issue. I did like the sandwiches, I would love to be able to try even more. I was a little disappointed with the sides. The cheesy corn was good, advertised to be spicy but didn't have much of a kick. The lobster mac and cheese that I was very excited for was kind of mid. It was just mac and cheese with cold lobster slapped on top of it. This place is definitely worth a visit! This was my first visit to the new location. They moved a couple of miles south to the corner of 152 and 291 and have not only expanded the size of the place by adding a large seating area, but greatly expanded their menu to order freshly prepared food for carry-out and dine-in. It was a tough decision narrowing down from their 15 sandwich options. I chose the Bangin Brisket - Akaushi beef slow smoked for 16 hours, cubed, sauced and heaped high and overflowing a toasted bun. After one bite, I audibly dropped the f-bomb - in a positive way. Not just the best brisket, but maybe the best meat I've ever had. The premium meat is straight from the butcher case and straight from the farm- simply an amazing flavor that melted in my mouth after every slow bite and chew. The $20 sandwich may seem pricey, but it was worth every single cent. The "pork shots" were recommended as my side and I'm glad they were. Two pork meatballs wrapped in bacon and a bit of cream cheese then fried - decadently delicious also. Disappointed. I have wanted to try the lobster roll that goes on special once a month. I expected either a Maine version or Connecticut version. Toasty bread and buttery lobster.
