So, I first saw a picture of this sandwich on Monday after the Chiefs did a major stomp on the Baltimore Ravens. And the more I looked at it the more I wanted to get my hands on it. So, the special ran through the 4th I believe, and this morning I picked up the phone and I gave them a call and ordered it! They gave this sandwich the name Butchers Special #1 Super Bowl Bound Brisket. They slow smoked wagyu brisket topped top that with a some bratwurst add a few caramelized onions add to that a combo of barbecue sauce and homemade white sauce, I did throw some jalapenos on too, and they piled all of that on a garlic butter brioche bun. They told me it would be ready around 11:45 so I hopped in the old buggy and drove up and picked it up. The drive home was sheer torture! All the aromatics of that brisket and that bratwurst and those sauces filled my car and that aroma drove me crazy there just drove me crazy. I thought for a moment I was going to have to pull over to the side of the road and eat it then and there. But I did get it home and I did get an extra treat because they showed it to be sliced brisket and they did slice it off the very end and it was more of a burnt end brisket sandwich, and it was delicious! Where am I at you ask, why I am at The Uppercut KC in Liberty Missouri. Should you happen to buy one I dare you to try to pick it up I double dare you! I knifed and forked it! And before I left for home, I scored a ring of Kielbasa and 4 links of andouille. Well done to The Uppercut KC! Well done indeed! Way, way overpriced. Had to wait to order for about 5 mins as the person working the "order" stand went to help sell other products??? Also, they were cooking some hot jalapeños and it was literally choking some people up. We ordered 2 sandwiches (too much add'l crap on them) @ $19.99 ea, a generic bottle of water and it was 2.99. Overall, sandwiches were good but terribly overpriced for everything here. Sorry to say, we won't be back. read more

We ordered in advance and our food was prepared and ready to go shortly after we got there. The service was outstanding and the food is amazing! We had the street tacos, the French toast burger, the turkey sandwich and the million dollar burger along with the kids sliders. Honestly there wasn't a single thing we didn't like. I had the chance to talk to Mariah the owner and she was great! I see some people leaving reviews complaining about the price but honestly we would pay it all over again. The burgers we ordered were good, but we didn't feel like they were amazing, especially for $20 apiece. Loved the meat market- so many freezers & coolers full of a variety of meats, cheeses, sausages, local eggs. The meat in the display case had prices on it, but not much else was clearly marked, unfortunately. They were very busy, so I didn't feel comfortable asking how much items cost. It was a neat atmosphere- lots of local goodies for sale- goat's milk soap, honey, cookies, beef jerky, summer sausage, just to name a few items. The burgers were 1/2 pound, which is substantial, but the flavor didn't wow us. The employees were nice and helpful. One other negative- no place to sit, so the buns were soggy by the time we got home, which was only 5 minutes away. read more

I am a fan of supporting local businesses but The Upper Cut is ridiculous. Their prices are incredibly high. I ordered a fresh turkey from them for Thanksgiving this year but didn't ask the price (my bad). I should have known when I ordered it on-line and paid a $50 deposit. When I got there, they sold me an 18 pound turkey for $112. At grocery stores, turkey was selling for a little over $2/pound and Upper Cut sold it to me for over $6/pound. On a previous order, I got some steaks for over $80 and in the credit card transaction, they had a tip function which I hadn't seen at a food market. For an $80 order, maybe they assume I should give them an extra $16 to pay their employees. Honestly, at these prices and their high profit margin, I think they should pay their employees well and not expect me to pay them. And the meat at Hyvee and Pricechopper is just as good. This is a long review I'm sure as I am detailed oriented but bear with me. 1st - David, they have a ton of 5-star reviews, no way there is an issue. Yes, they do - for good reason. There is a sign by the register "$5 off for a 5-star review." Given the discount, why don't they have more??? 2nd - I saw the sign in the back about employees paying for stuff if they fall behind. I would have never bought anything here if they treat employees that way! I came into this shop about a year ago. I'm a huge beef eater and hate price chopper and walmart meats. I wanted something good, comparable to my hometown beef quality. I walked in, saw browning (rotting) beef being sold at $40 a pound. Yeah, no thanks. I walked out. Fast forward to today, I decided, I wanted to restock my deep freezes. I see their bundles and think "well if I stock up at walmart, I will get okay steak but I will need to vacuum seal 200 pounds of meat and I don't want to!" So my wife and I decide to buy their bundles simply because we had the money to splurge, they would vacuum seal everything and we have been shamed into shopping local instead of big box. HUGE MISTAKE! I interact with Dena on the phone and her instructions were little confusing. She is nice in some ways and gruff/short in others. A few times I would try to handle business with her on my lunch break at work and she will say she can't help me because there is a lunch rush. Anyways, we get everything figured out. Almost $2,000 in meat. Three bundles and a ton of extra cuts. I buy the bundles online and process the extras with her over the phone. When I got the cost, I was a little shocked. When I priced it out online, it was $1,638 after tax. When I did it all over the phone and she gave me a price, it was almost $1,800 after tax AND a discount. Anyways, I shrug it off. I get the receipt, she charged me for two cuts of meat that I did not order. I called back to fix it and it took a bit for it to be figured out and she credited it to my meat upgrades I processed (bundles came with 12oz ribeyes and 6oz filets, I wanted 16 and 8 oz respectfully). After all was said and done with, she said to pick up the extra stuff Friday and get the three bundles Saturday. Friday, I pick up the extra stuff. That is when things went south. Some of the weights were off. Yes, I use a kitchen scale and an ounce here and an ounce there, not a big deal. But when you are paying something like $3-4 AN OUNCE and you are short a few ounces here, half pound there, its a problem. I let it slide. Saturday, I go to pick up the bundles. While there I order food. What a show! I order a $20 sandwich (FYI: Was DISGUSTING) and I told the cashier I have a lot of meat to pick up can I get it while I waited. He said fine and walked off. 5 minutes later - "hey, can I get my bundles while I wait?" he says, "oh yeah sorry" and walks to the back and gets papers. "Excuse me, I have like 150 pounds of meat to load in my car, can I get it please?" Oh yeah sorry! I get the bundles and I knew it wasn't right. I quickly step through everything and see I am missing an entire bundle! I walk in and let him know and they are all confused. The owner then tries to say I picked it up Friday. I said no I didn't, I got extras, all bundles are today. She keeps saying to her employee they did things wrong and she is giving out a second bundle so she is out money, etc. She seriously was alluding that I stole a bundle from her! They had to put the bundle together on the fly. Part of the bundle was ribeye - she gave me NY Strip. I HATE strip. So if anyone wants dog meat, call me! End of the day, I got the bundle. I came home and my cars trunk was covered in blood. I got everything inside and I was on the short end of every order. If I ordered 4 pounds of something, I got like 3.7-3.8 pounds. Chicken I ordered like 30 pounds, got about 27.5. Biggest hit was the ribeyes. I asked for 6x 1# rib eyes. I got 6 steaks, none hit 1# (4 were 15.5 ounces, 1 was 14.7 ounces and 1 was barely 13 ounces.) Before I'm screamed at about this - it was their "waygu" beef that is like $3 an ounce. So I paid for the extra ounces (about $95 worth) and probably got about 2/3 of what I paid for. At the end of it, 199.5 pounds of meat purchased, I received a net total of about 192 pounds - 7 pounds shy of what I paid for. Averaging $10 a pound ($2,000/200#) that is $70 I was shorted. Plus, again, everything was bleeding so I had to go clean my cars trunk. And my deep freeze is covered in frozen blood. Icing on the cake you ask? Most of the vacuum sealing failed. My 4 racks of lamb (reference, I pay less than $20 a pound at sams club for 1.5# racks, these are less than a 1# (all bone) and nearly $30/pound) are already freezer burned. I'd bet at least a 1/3 of this meat ($600 worth probably) will be burned and tossed. They can't cut to requested weight, they can't count (somehow 18x 1# bags of ground beef equals 20 pounds!), quality isn't worth price/hype. read more

When asked to see ingredients label or if the deli meats are made with nitrates or sulfates was told they would not share their secret recipe. Hello, I'm trying to see if this deli meat has bad ingredients we don't eat but she thinks by telling me that I would start making it myself? Everything you buy in store has nutrition labels and restaurants can tell you what they put in their food. I searched on their website and on social media to try and see the answer and found outs it's probably because their deli meat is store bought Boars head as seen from a past post but yet she is claiming that they make it from scratch and couldn't reveal her secret recipe (which was chemicals I guess and that's why she wouldn't tell me)! Won't be eating at a place that cannot tell you if they use chemicals in their meats and then is rude about it as she seems to be to anyone who asks questions according to her social media. read more

Horrible service. My son wanted the donut burger. Person at counter thought they might be out of donuts and checked with the cook. one donut left and cook said sell it. Counter clerk couldn't put it in the machine so said he can't sell to me..."pick something else." I asked him to sell me what I ordered and what cook said to sell but didn't want to because of his register. I told him he was about to lose a customer over a register button and got the second shrug. Perhaps they think their food is so good that they can treat people like that. Outstanding service while practicing the social distancing in place. They offer call ahead or you can message your orders. The quality of meats is top notch and the prices are very reasonable. I never leave reviews, but will make an exception because my experience was cartoonish. After being incorrectly double-charged for an item at point-of-sale, they told me I could ONLY get refund as store credit or I was free to take second pound of Pastrami. They treated me like I was asking for a favor-- "the owner doesn't let us give refunds," they said. They pretended they didn't even know how to correct the mistake, but magically figured it out within 30 seconds after I told them that refusal to correct a Point-of-Sale terminal entry error violates their Clover Merchant Terms of Service and that I would just dispute the charge with Amex. When my Dad checked out seconds later, same cashier told him that his chicken wings were $2 more (per pound) than marked-- when he said that he'd just put them back, they (again) magically adjusted the price back to as-marked so he'd buy it. Cartoonish. Wonder how many times a day they pull this schtick on customers?!?!? To top it off, this place is criminally expensive even compared to Local Pig (which has been my go-to for many years), customer experience was obviously lacking, and apparently the owner is so bottom-line focused their staff has the impression they can't even fix honest point-of-sale mistakes without trying to steal money customers. read more

This place is beyond bad. Lets break it into chunks: Lunch orders: I went in and bought lunch for my daughter and I. It is about $20 a sandwich (Red flag) and total for a lunch for two was $54. It was ABSOLUTELY disgusting. Worst food ever and had to toss half of it. I only ate half because I spent so much on it! Meats: The brats are good and that is the extent of it. I eat Wagyu on occasion and they try to compare their special meat to "better than Wagyu." I bought a LOT of meat. I believed the hype. I cooked some up - horrible! I am not saying this to be insulting, I am saying this honestly. Walmart has better ribeyes. Seriously don't waste your money. Walmart is $12 a pound, here it is $50+ a pound. Customer service: Nonexistent. You can tell Dina the manager has a lot of angry customers, gives canned responses to complaints, pushes the concerns back on you like its your fault and gives empty apologies. The owner should not be in the store EVER. She is horrible with customers and worse with staff! Great, you have the money and the knowledge to rip people off, stay in the office! This was a very disappointing experience as we drove from Lees Summit to try their food. When we arrived there was a single customer ordering food from the meat counter. A few minutes later people started streaming in behind. Staff proceeded to wait on everyone that came in after. One customer spoke up that we had been waiting quite a while and the woman behind the counter snapped and stated that she was getting people as fast as she can. I have no problem with waiting my turn when businesses are busy. My issue was when I finally spoke up that people that arrived after us were being helped first, a male behind the counter snapped and said would be next. The tone was rude and condescending. Needless to say, we left and will not be back. I will also be sure to make sure EVERYONE knows our experience so they don't waste their time and gas on this failed adventure. We went last week and tried the #8 burgers. Each made to order. You don't go here for fast food, you go here for great food. The hamburger that I had was one of the best I've ever eaten definitely one of the best in Kansas City. The meat is from cattle who were raised locally. I love the fact that eating here supports a locally owned business. Everyone working was so friendly, and the guy behind the register was overjoyed to explain the menu and the process that their cattle go through before entering the store I plan on ordering some beef in bulk. There's not a lot of room for sitting down to eat there so I think next time I'll order ahead for carry out but we had to find choice of table when we were there. It was clean. It was fun watching everyone come in and place their orders everything from an older couple enjoying their dinner to a couple of big Burly guys who ordered a lot of food and ate it all. I plan on going back and trying the tenderloin. I've seen pictures of it and it looks amazing. Been living right behind this place since they opened. They have grown and expanded their product selection every year. It's very expensive but you get what you pay for. They recently starting serving their own specialty sandwiches and this is what prompted this review. AMAZING. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I had the Steak, my son the Kelce and my wife the Spicy Turkey and pork and peppers. Hadn't been there for a couple years but stopped in last week. Bought a slab of bbq pork ribs..$35, got home and had them for dinner. Worst ribs we've ever had! Terrible rub, they were tender but tasted so bad we only ate 4 ribs each and both got sick later at night. For the price could have gotten a full meal at a BBQ restaurant. Don't recommend this precooked meat at all. I dred trying the Angus beef we bought out of case. We absolutely wouldn't shop there again. read more

Forgive me if too long but it's necessary. Ordered 3 Kielbasa, 2 street corn and 4 pork rings online for father's day. Had not been here before and the pics looked great. The kielbasa rings in the pic were fresh kielbasa as well as looking fresh made. I pick it up and EVERYTHING was frozen. I ask the girl and she said we have to throw it in the freezer to keep it good. She said if not frozen it would be bad in a day or two and we don't get alot of orders for kielbasa. I only needed it for a day or two. So I got old everything? Too late to argue as I needed it right away. I get home and pull out the kielbasa finding 2 smoked only one regular. Not what we wanted, nor was I asked and nor was smoked in the pic. I've ordered kielbasa all over the country for over 50 years and all rings either are weighed or considered one LB. The smoked rings (weighed with their plastic heavy sealed wrap were 9.12 oz and 12.4 oz. and I've never seen smoked look like these ever anywhere. Actually a little scared to try eating it. The fresh ring looked better and was a little over a lb. but frozen. Then we get to the sides? Who sells frozen sides especially corn? And who does not tell you everything you pick up will be frozen not fresh. I would never recommend this place. Total weight Kielbasa was 41oz., 7oz less than 3lbs. including the heavy plastic wrap! An oz or two maybe but this is a rip off. Priced way to high for frozen food. read more
