I've been buying cows for about 11 years. I have 3 farmer buddies I buy from, and through them, I've used multiple butchers. I can confidently say that Paradise has been the worst butcher I've ever used. Is the product I received good? No. Did I receive everything I paid for? No. I've been buying through this specific farmer friend for about two years now. He decided to try out Paradise because they are closer to him, as opposed to driving several hours to the butcher we had used before. Well, this is where the nightmare began. He picked up the beef and delivered it to my house on a Saturday morning. He and I unloaded the truck while my wife loaded the freezer. Before he left, he told me to take the receipt and double-check that we weren't missing anything. The receipt ended up in one of the boxes used for delivery, so I didn't check it right away. We didn't look for it until Monday and by that time our farmer had already left for vacation. Once he got back, he sent me a picture of the receipt, and we went through our beef. To our dismay, we discovered that we were missing all 24 steaks and one roast. As soon as I realized this, I let my friend know, and he immediately notified Paradise. That's when the headache began. They told him to have us count again, make a list of everything we are missing, and contact them with the list. My wife called them, as they had asked, and their response was, "Well, we don't have it, so your farmer must have taken it." My wife was pretty shocked at this point because we had done everything they asked, yet their immediate response was to dismiss the situation and basically accuse our farmer of stealing the steaks. I contacted my friend and he called the manager to let them know we were less than impressed with the customer service at this point. They apologized and said they would help resolve the issue. Well, that turned out to be a lie, as they never returned a call to my friend until he threatened to get his lawyer involved. By this point, we had cooked our first batch of ground beef and it was a disappointment. In 11 years of buying beef, I've never received such low-quality hamburger before. Normally the hamburger I've received has been 90/10, maybe 85/15. This junk is 70/30 at best! We cooked 4 lbs of beef and drained over a pound of fat. It was so bad that we had to drain it twice because it wouldn't cook properly-it was literally being boiled in the fat. My other concern is that if they added an extra 15% of fat to the hamburger, shouldn't I have more packages of beef than usual? I can tell you I have no more than I've ever had when buying from other places. Well, they finally called my friend back, and he informed them that not only was I missing meat, but the quality was also sub-par. He told them they needed to figure out how to reimburse me for both the missing items and the poor quality ground beef. The manager said, "give me until Monday and I will call you back." Once again, that turned out to be a lie, as we haven't been able to reach them on the phone again. I was never asking for all my money back, or for them to substitute for the missing product; I just wanted a refund for the items I never received and a portion for the terrible hamburger. My recommendation to others at this point is to look somewhere else for a butcher, as Paradise's customer service is terrible. You might never hear back from them, the meat quality is poor, and you might not even receive your full order! My question is: Where did my missing steaks go, where is the extra hamburger, and for goodness sake, where's your phone? read more

Stopped in a recommendation from a friend and after trying a brat from there a couple weeks ago. They make an absolutely delicious brat for grilling. They have way more flavor than a grocery store brat with a good taste of black pepper (?). We bought some Italian sausages, cheddar brats, breakfast roll sausage and some bacon end pieces. Can't wait to them on the grill and bacon/sausage in a skillet for breakfast. The young lady working the front counter was very nice, signed us up for a rewards program and gave us, first time customer insulated grocery bag with zipper to take our meats home in. We've been to Paradise Locker Meats twice now, and we're so pleased. The people working there are incredibly friendly! The prices are reasonable. The selection of meat items-fresh and frozen-and other locally-made products, such as cheese, canned vegetables and jams, and other stuff, is diverse and delicious! We ate the beef/pork/bacon burgers last night. We'll eat some variety of brats tonight. The Mango Lime salsa is the best I've ever had. They carry Hemme cheese curds. You can't go wrong! Two things--they have a loyalty program ($5.00 for every $100 you spend). They also have buy-4-get-1-free brats/sausages. There is an impressive and intriguing variety of brats and sausages, too! You know, having lived most of my life in the UK, I miss quite a few things about home. However, one thing I never complain about is the KC beef. Midwestern beef kicks a** (or a***, in British English). While even the humblest KC restaurant or grocery store will stock lovely meat, I suggest that you get yourself to the Paradise Locker plant in Trimble (MO) if you really want to treat yourself. Trimble? Where the... I know. It's a drive - particularly for the Southerners. However, if you are a true gourmet, what is a trifling 1 hour drive? Besides, while you're up there, why not swing by Justus Drugstore (Smithville, MO) - possibly the best restaurant in KC. Paradise specializes in top quality beef (I think one of the few places here where you can buy Wagyu). They supply some seriously famous US restaurants. And they have a neat retail shop attached to their plant, so the locals can access their gorgeous produce. I went there for the first time to buy steaks for my Hubby's birthday dinner. Paradise had a whole cabinet of fresh (never been frozen) steaks, ranging from the regular USDA approved stuff (which is v good already) to the super swanky Piedmontese beef. We splashed out on the Pied' beef and were not disappointed. Look it up - better for your health and bred to be super tender. They also stock chickens, lamb, pork, and some game birds. They smoke their own bacon. They make their own jerky. Oh, did I mention their homemade pastrami is worth adding to your fantasy Last Meal? read more

Here I was in the Smithville Missouri lake area talking to a fellow camper and he highly recommended I spot by the Paradise Meat Locker if I wanted the best meat in the area. Given it was only 10 miles out of way we took his advice. I will never regret this decision. After buying enough of there product to require an additional cold storage device (which they carry btw) we managed to reconfigure the already truck to haul back some of the best meat I have ever stuffed in my mouth. Given I was touring the area from California where I have access to great meat products as well my quality bar is quite high. It was clear to me after only trying a few of our purchases that the pressure would be on me not to mess up the preparation and cooking. If smile-a-vision was invented you would be staring at ear to ear grins. The knowledge of the staff was exceptional and the breath of products truly amazing. If your not vegan,, vegetarian, or pescadorian I can not recommend a better place in the western Missouri area to get your protein needs fulfilled. Another 10% off if you serve/ed in the armed forces. We drove from St. Joseph last Monday looking for pork bones to make broth. Paradise is cheaper than Clarks and Clarks didn't have pork bones at this time. Their selection is amazing. I saw beef tongue, Wagyu, alligator, pork bones (yay), beef bones, elk, rabbit, lamb, wild caught seafood, and so much more. I ate their brand braunschweiger and I love it. It's different and not pasty or pate-like, like what you get in the grocery store. No, this is hardy and requires hardy bread. Texture is like meatloaf and is oh so good. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. Staff was very friendly, and those pork bones made a wonderful broth that gelled up quite nicely. I highly recommend this retail store for high quality meats at a decent price. read more

There's no need to repeat how great the meat is or how helpful the employees are - both true. An acquaintance of mine knows a USDA Meat Inspector and he says Paradise's meat processing area (i.e., the slaughter area) is probably the cleanest of any he's seen. Sometimes you just want to do it yourself. How many of you out there think that the best steak, pork chop, or Burger you ever had is actually at your house. Well if it is there's no better place to get your serious meat fix is at Paradise Locker. Its a bit of a drive but worth it in so many ways. There beef pork and Lamb is from local farmers and this is some of the best beef and pork around. They also have specialty beef and pork that can only be bought in a few places in this country and we are lucky to have them here local. I'm talking about Waygu Beef and Berkshire Pork. This is the meat that serious competition BBQ teams use to win contests. When you have eaten Waygu brisket cooked by a professional or a Berkshire true country rib you will use this meat for all special occasions. Its more expensive but when you figure you are buying meat that grades prime or better and is saved for the top steak houses in the country its not bad. Ninety nine per cent of people have never had this quality of steak ( Waygu and Piedmontese ) because in a restaurant they would be 50-100 dollars a steak, you can buy them here for way less than half of that. They have Waygu Hamburger patties that are 8oz. each and are 3.00 a piece. Yeah I know that's 6.00/lb but you will never want to eat another Burger at home and you will blow your friends away. The next time you pay 8-10 dollars for a bar Burger youve paid more than this. For the competition BBQ guys you know what I'm talking about. You will never taste a burnt end like you get from Americas answer to Kobe beef. Cmon up to Paradise Locker for that special BBQ your friends and family will never forget read more

We purchased a side of beef from Paradise Locker. We filled out the cut sheet emphasizing we wanted ground chuck and ground beef packaged separately. We also ordered an oxtail. We went to pick up today and realized there was no ground chuck, but plenty of ground beef. We asked where the ground chuck was and they said they put it in the ground beef ignoring our wishes and what we ordered. They kept saying they were sorry but would do nothing to remedy the situation. Then when we got home and unloaded we found we also did not receive the oxtail we ordered and paid for. The rest of the meat cuts were correct. We are senior citizens and scrimped and saved for the 1200.00 they charged us for the side of beef. We did this because we wanted cuts that we couldn't find in the grocery. Also, because we could not find ground chuck on a regular basis at the grocery. They really screwed us over and we are heartbroken we did not receive what we ordered. They really acted like they could care less. read more
