I am not a fan of freeways in general, but the 280 freeway may be the best major metropolitan artery in America. Since I moved to the Bay Area 11 years ago I have moved a few times and moved my company as well, but one thing has stayed consistent, I-280 has been a part of my daily drive.
The 280 freeway runs the length of the Peninsula, mostly parallel to The Bayshore freeway (101 for you numerophiles) and along the coastal mountain range opposite Hwy 1. With these two major thoroughfares flanking it and commuters and GeePeeEssayss tending to be focused on the shortest most direct routes the 280 freeway gets a lot less traffic. So I'm gonna use it.
I run the game so I show up when I want to. That means I pick less stressful, scenic routes to get places. The Nimitz? Goes from A to B on the Peninsula and it is scenic! Trees, rolling hills, lakes, mountains, fog rolling in the afternoon from the ocean all spooky like a Stephen King book, that same fog hovering all around in the morning, the Flintsone's house, the big friggin' satellite dish, the statue of a monk pointing (that's Juniperro Serra, they named this highway after him).
Need I say more? Oh I've said too much, I have turned you on to it which means more traffic, oh oh, delete, delete. I meant to say this road sucks, zero stars, nails in your tires, roadkill, zombie apocalypse, avoid, avoid.... read more
