i honestly didn't think BART went though San Jose, bit it was great taking the BART from Walnut Creek to San Jose, which is 10 minutes away from the SAP Center. i always suggest downloading Clipper App and use it to pay and check schedules they got BART enforcement? they randomly go through the train(s), so make sure you got your Clipper card, so they don't fine you those $75 yeet

Wowww,a vta/bart station that is clean, spacious, modern,i felt like we are here in USA,coming from the East bay,by far this is the best station, hopefully will be able to stay that way.The sculpture outside is incredible .Very convenient to go to SJ flea market and approximately 10 mins uber drive to the west valley mall

Date: 8/28/2021 Time: 2:40 PM 82° Hot & hazy About two months ago BART sent me a ticket for 2 free rides good only for weekends. This weekend is the last one. The free ticket is due to expire August 30, 2021. Where do I want to go from the Lake Merritt BART Station? I decide to take the train to the Berryessa BART Station. Hey, it is two free rides and I want to make the long trip worthwhile. I convince my husband to come along on this adventure. It is a nice outing for the weekend, using public transportation, to a destination of about 43 miles one way from Oakland to San Jose. The Berryessa BART Station is clean and very spacious compared to other stations in different cities (SF, Oakland, Richmond). I am grateful that this station has at least two elevators. Stairs are difficult for us senior citizens with disability. The only drawback is there are not enough benches to sit. The benches are set far apart. Did BART set it up this way due to social distancing? I am just wondering. The plus about this station is the San Jose Flea Market which is just across the way. It is so convenient. There will be future visits to this station to browse and shop at the flea market.

This Bart Station is located directly next to the San Jose flea market. About a 13 minute drive to Downtown San Jose and close to San Jose Japantown. One of the largest Stations, comparable to 19th street and 12th street Bart stations in size. This is the end of the line station until Downtown San Jose and Santa Clara stations are finally built which may take 10 plus years or more. A round trip ticket from Berryessa to SFO costs $28.20. The next closest station is the new Milpitas station. Ribbon cutting is tomorrow and the first day of service will be June 13th 2020.

I took Bart from Union Bart to Berryessa on the first day 8:53am train Sat 6/13/20. Got to Berryessa 9:18am. Waiting in line for the bathrooms, only 2 unisex bathrooms. There was water in drinking fountain. Outside is a nice sculpture called Life! by Larry Kirkland. We hiked the Bay Area Ridge Trail Upper Penitencia Creek 0.7mi, Penitencia Creek Trail to Alum Rock Park which was 4miles each way. Flat hike, had some nice views. Right behind Berryessa Bart is the SJ Flea Market, nice place to eat and shop. I need to spend more time there. Free to walk-in Fri-Sun Dawn to Dusk. VTA Rapid Bus 500 will take you to Downtown SJ & Diridon Station. Close by is Claw Shack & 7 Leaves I need to try them.

The flea market is the top highlight for the Berryessa Station. Otherwise if you wish to do stuff around San Jose until they build Bart to downtown SJ, It would be wise to get off at Milpitas and take VTA from the station as there are many ways to get around to San Jose that way. But the takeaway is that the flea market is only steps away once you exit BART.

This review is just about the facilities and the look and feel as I am not a Bart user yet (my early experiences with Bart were not very positive: dirty stations, wagons, weird people...). I loved how clean and safe this one in Berryesa looks like. Honestly, having a police station right there is pretty reassuring. I am sorry for the Bart bad press but I guess there is a reason for it. This looks super modern, I like the sculpture outside and the fact that you can also directly walk into the flea market. That is awesome. There are tons of cool storage for bycicles which is also great because there are plenty of biking opportunities around and seems very convenient. Plus let's not forget that there are people who take the train and then uses bike as a secondary transportation so these cages seem pretty handy. It looks overall very pleasant to the eyes.

Again, parking structure at a different angle.

Four stars are based on the fact that it is a very clean station although I know this may be influenced by the fact that most businesses are closed for in office work. I assume once everything opens up a little more freely, many of the tech workers on this side of town will be using BART down here for commuting. Once I actually USE BART, I will update this review to reflect that.

This is easily the best BART station I have experienced! Clean, lots of parking and it's not packed with homeless people setting up camps.

A Call for Genuine Transportation Solutions…read more It's astonishing to witness the blatant disregard for implementing an efficient route to & from south county. These areas remain starkly neglected, despite persistent appeals for more expedient transportation options. The proposed system, which serves a few bus stops -- 1 in Gilroy, 1 in Morgan Hill, & potentially another in South San Jose--would connect a lot quicker to Diridon Station, but the current system, with several bus stops along Monterey Rd without ever going in the freeway, fails to quickly connect to Diridon Station for Caltrain. This oversight particularly affects those living just south of the Caltrain service cutoff during off-peak hours. Moreover, the notion of a separate route connecting to the North San Jose/Berryessa BART Station remains a distant dream. The insistence that the Rapid 568 is sufficient simply because it bears the label "rapid" is both misleading & disheartening. Residents of Morgan Hill & Gilroy have expressed that these services are far too slow, which takes over 2 times or even 3 or 4 times as long as a car ride. The reality is stark: driving from Morgan Hill to Diridon Station takes around 25 minutes, while the so-called "Rapid 568" drags on for over 50 minutes. One could just as easily rename it the "Less Slow 568." The route's failure to utilize the freeway for faster transit is baffling. The bus company even sometimes has the buses to say "Spare The Air", & to encourage people to take the bus instead of driving, which comes at the expense of their sleep time if they choose to use it for work purposes, all by which they won't if they have the ability & means to get a car. And despite the bus company encouraging people to take public transportation, most of those working in the corporate or headquarters level of the VTA bus company drive to & from work & don't do their part, highlighting a major hypocrisy among them! Is it too much to ask for a direct bus route that connects Gilroy to Diridon Station with minimal stops near the freeway? The alternatives are hardly feasible. For those considering rideshare options like Lyft or Uber, the financial burden is staggering--always over $30 or even often over $40 for a one-way trip, not to mention the expectation of tipping the driver. This scenario is not sustainable for daily commutes, especially for those in Morgan Hill or Gilroy who lack access to a car. A former VTA employee I spoke with expressed dismay at the apparent apathy within route management. He remarked that many of the staff seem to go to work just for a paycheck, a troubling indictment of a system that should prioritize the needs of its community. Imagine the transformation that could occur if these decision-makers were to relocate to Morgan Hill or Gilroy & rely on public transportation for their daily commutes. Their perspective would undoubtedly shift, catalyzing much-needed improvements in service. Unfortunately, the prevailing reality is that public transportation is not serving the people effectively. While there may be lofty goals to encourage a shift away from personal vehicles, such aspirations falter when faced with the prospect of sacrificing over 1 hour of commuting time for a 1 way trip, which means well over 2 hours in total daily commute when going to work only to much of San Jose & especially Santa Clara, especially if it means sacrificing almost half of normal sleep time just to take public transportation. This isn't merely conjecture; it's a palpable truth that drives individuals back to their cars, seeking convenience over inconvenience. The cycle is self-perpetuating. As more individuals opt for personal vehicles due to the inefficiencies of public transport, the ridership declines, leading to dwindling revenue for the very services that should be thriving. When I finally buy my own car, I won't miss public transportation in the slightest. I will relish the freedom it provides, & I can only predict that my experience will mirror that of countless others who find themselves in the same position. Ultimately, the message is clear: you reap what you sow. If public transportation continues on this path of neglect & inefficiency, it risks becoming obsolete. Change won't come from mere wishful thinking; it must be driven by the voices of those who demand better. Only through active engagement & persistent requests & having the city or county to put more serious people who won't be spending tax money unwisely but rather wisely to put more efficient route to work can we hope to create a transportation system that truly serves its community.

Maybe I got lucky. Very very lucky…read more San Jose cal train station was my pick up point for departure at 7:40am on Tuesday. 22 people and 80 seats so, I'm sure this is one of major factors. The driver was amazing on the intercom his voice was clear, energetic and very pleasant. The mid way pit stop was also a great choice and and the 30 minutes was more then enough time for me. Now this is my 2nd time using this brand and the first try was not the same. The first experience the bus was a 1 story and tight. The 2nd bus experience during this visit was the double decker. If this was or could be the consistent experience then, 100% would recommend giving it a try. 1 tip Bring a jacket or 2 jackets with *hoods. Why because even though the bus was clean... you never know. The good will make feel more comfortable and safe to put your head back on the seat (knowing your head and hair are safe).2nd tip is bring sanitizer wipes... I don't but it's probably worth it to have them when going into bathrooms and touching doors.

However, tonight's experience totally changes my overall experience with Megabus. I'm writing this at 5am waiting for the next bus back home to San Jose. I got a Service Alert email after I booked my ticket from Anaheim to San Jose on Friday, 1/18. The email said the bus would have delays up to an hour due to operational issues which is weird to get it the day before. I didn't think much of it because bus delays happens. It was supposed to depart Saturday, 1/19 at 10:20pm. They email us 17 minutes later that the bus has been canceled. Another Megabus driver had to tell us the overnight bus going back to the Bay Area was canceled. If they knew beforehand these delays would cause a cancelation they should let the customer know so they can change to an earlier trip. Or have another bus. You have a lot of passengers going to San Jose & San Francisco! So now I'm stuck in Anaheim almost 11 more hours after I was supposed to go home because the next available bus departs at 9:05am. Yes they offer refunds or exchange for a rescheduled trip. But this inconvenience they caused could have been prevented if they had better communication and a backup bus if there are operational/mechanical issues. I'm supposed to be at work in the morning but I have to call out so thanks Megabus for making me lose a day's worth of pay! Update: I took the bus departing after 7am from LA Union Station and they charged me $5 to take the earlier bus.
