This is a solid BART station and one of the cleaner BART stations in the Bay Area. I've never had a major problem coming here.

There's still always room for improvement. But I believe BART is doing their best to revive public transit and the negative thoughts people have about the bart. It's a lot safer and cleaner than it used to be. read more

Bart - that stands for Bay Area Rapid Transit. Yeah, you just got schooled. On the train you never know who your going to meet. You could be sitting next to some guy having an acid trip inside a crystal ball or some wholesome grandma trying to find transportation that will fit inside her budget. Yes all types of people some suits too. This bart station to me is great because it isn't confusing. Cars go here. Busses go there. Two platforms that are above ground and not so disorienting. This is a great Bart station for easily confused riders. One of the best parts about not driving is you have all this extra time for useless mind activity. Usually if your behind the wheel your mind is absorbed with not crashing into anything and navigating in general. On this train you don't have to think about any of that. The only odd thing about this station is how far away it is from 880. I didn't realize it until I got off one day and started walking around. I don't know where I was going (as is often the case) but I remember I was at this duck pond near the Hayward fault. These days there is this fish problem at the bay and around lake merritt. Some sort of oxygen problem. All this treated sewage thrown into the bay finally caught up with us... I don't think that the duck pond is connected with these problems but I was planning a trip to check up on them soon. I contacted a friend - the sloan man and I think we will check up on all the fishies while he is in town. read more

Decided to take the train to the Festival of India on Paseo Padre Park Way. Easy Peasy. Go out the fare gates and exit to the right , walk out of the station and go straight down Walnut to Paseo Padre Parkway. About a 10 minute walk. Also worth mentioning is that on Walnut there are some shopping centers to look at as well and also Kaiser is just a walk from there as well. Sizzler and The Counter, popular choices in this area for eating at. FYI thanks to the couple who let us follow them to the festival so we could understand where we're going. VTA buses no longer stop here now that BART runs all the way to Milpitas and Berryessa/North San José. There is also a Warm Springs/South Fremont station prior. Still, this station is relatively clean and not sketchy by BART standards. And although direct SF stops running around the same time each , at least it now runs on Sundays, and the wait for the transfer at Bay Fair station at night is now usually only 1-3 minutes. read more

Date: 8/7/2016 Time: 1:15 PM 70° Sunny I have never taken the BART train all the way down to the Fremont Station from the Lake Merritt Station. It was the first time for my husband and me. Purpose: train ride to Fremont to attend the Fremont Festival of Arts instead of driving from Alameda to Fremont for the event. I have to admit it was more convenient to take public transportation to Fremont. There are no road ragers, crowded freeway/heavy traffic and big 18 wheelers. The plus is less wear and tear on the vehicle. The Fremont BART Station is relatively clean compared to the BART Stations in Oakland/Berkeley/Richmond/Civic Center-San Francisco. It seems as though the stations outside of the urban areas are well-maintained and much quieter - no drama and no passengers hoarding two seats. I like this station since it is within walking distance to the main thoroughfare of Paseo Padre Parkway. It is a nice mode of transportation and convenient to utilize for traveling from Oakland to Fremont. The drawback right now on the weekends is the delay with trains running to and from South Hayward to Fremont. BART is running on one track due to maintenance work. I can't say for sure when the next time my husband and I will be heading to Fremont on BART, but it certainly is a whole lot better than driving on 880 southbound. read more

I had to take Bart to work because my car was at the shop. I never liked public transportation to begin with so my review can be a bit harsh. Fremont Bart Station is old and stinky. It's filled with a bunch of weirdos, druggies, homeless people, and normal people just trying to get to work/school. The floors and stairs are filled with gum, spit, and honestly probably old dry poop. The trains come relatively quick. I've never run into issues getting aboard nor ran into any delays. You're better off standing in the train if you ask me because only God knows the last time they've thoroughly cleaned the interior. Yuck. read more

My critique is for the BART system as a whole, and is aimed specifically at the Fremont station. BART consistently delays service on Sundays for scheduled track maintenance. These delays may be up to 40 minutes. This is the WRONG time to be performing maintenance! Inconveniencing passengers to this extent is unacceptable. BART does NOT provide 24 hour service, and there are several hours every night when no passengers are riding the system. That downtime is the correct time to perform such maintenance! BART's customer service center is closed on Weekends (510)464-6000, so you can't file a complaint at the time of the inconvenience. Additionally, I asked station personnel for a feedback card, and was told that those were discontinued because, and this is verbatim, "they got too many complaints" ???!!!! BART is actively discouraging feedback by timimg inconvenience with a closed customer service department. read more

Fremont Bart Station has been my Bart station for past 20 years. Although I have now moved overseas to Asia and experienced much newer and bigger subway stations, this is still one of my favorite. No doubt, this is the station that I'm most comfortable with. It's got everything you will look for, escalators to go to the platform and enough parking to go around for the most part. The station is smaller enough so that you will never get lost or confused. The only thing it really need is a public bathroom, but then again, I don't think any other stations have one. My tip to you, park your car here and take Bart if you need to go to the Giants game or Warriors game. It is much more convenient than driving a car. read more

I love bart and all since it gets me to and from work everyday but seriously that's the only good thing about it!! this is your typical government run business, the trains are always late, the employees have an iq of 0, are rude as hell and hate their lives. The trains are delayed at least a good 2-3 times each week and half the time it's because they need to "connect the trains" honestly if you've been doing this for years now shouldn't it be a pretty smooth procedure? I don't know how it works but just hook the hook into the circle or something!! they have like 2 guys working on that and a person watching and still it takes 10+ min. Parking on the other hand is freaking impossible to find if you come after 8am, lot looks huge right? well the amount of cars that park there is even... huge....er.? (is huger a word?) oh and it's a dollar a day to park! the spots are tiny so if you drive anything that's worth more than 10K be prepared to cry when you get back to your car with all the door dings on it. in fact it's not just the spots that are tiny but also the rows itself to drive in, i literally have to move left and right when i'm driving down the rows to make sure i don't hit cars. the bart trains itself looks like they haven't been cleaned since... well ever.. all the seats have stains on them and most of them have turned from their original dark green color (maybe it was even light green before who knows) to a dark black of soot color. Sometimes I would rather stand but then the bars are dirty as hell as well and i seriously feel like I need to amputate my hand afterwards to prevent from the germs from moving upwards. all in all, it's a very convenient tool to have in the bay but please... common guys clean it up a bit and get your act together, bart has been around forever.. isn't it about time you guys got your act together? and hire some people who don't hate their lives... jesus christ. oh and advice for the riders? if you're late for your train don't bother running! it's probably delayed anyways! read more

Given that Bart gets me from point A to point B so that I don't have to drive my car into SF, I have much love for these guys. I'm taking off one star for some sketchy people I've encountered on the trains, including the mom who changed a poop-y diaper and decided that she would just leave it on the seat for someone else to pick up. Thumbs up for her! And for the guy who cussed out the Bart employee that told him he couldn't be in the exit aisles because he was somehow "exempt" from the rules, shame on you. Maybe you could ride around on your bike instead. The one star is also taken off for the fact that the trains are a bit dirty. I always bring some hand sanitizer with me because of this. Other than that, Bart is a great way to get around. Employees have always been nice and patient with me when I've asked them numerous times where I need to switch trains. read more

The Fremont BART Station is probably what you would expect being run by a Government Agency. I will say that overall it is clean, but I have not tried their bathrooms - which last time I actually looked, were closed to the public. There is nonsensical low parking! Why not have a well built parking garage which can handle the excess demand for parking? But, what really causes me to "scratch my head" is the fact that they do not sell Clipper Cards there! Why not? Why tell us that there is a budget deficit and you need to raise ticket prices, when you don't bother to collect the Commission for selling Clipper Cards!!! So, you force us to go to Walgreens, which is several blocks away, to pay a $3 "commission" charge (which Walgreens keeps) to purchase a Clipper Card..... Dumb, just dumb in my humble opinion! This is the Southern-most stop (for now) on the Bart line in the East Bay and in general. This means that the parking lot gets full with commuters from San Jose/Milpitas/South Bay. However I think they do alright overall. The bathrooms are open and mostly clean and stocked. The attendants are usually friendly and helpful. The lobby is open and clean. There are always taxis available when you need, a convenient pick-up/drop-off location. There is also bike lockers available so you don't have to worry about your bike getting stolen or wheels taken! The station itself is in the center of Fremont, so it sucks driving to when you get off the freeway. I can't wait for the Warm Springs station to open up so I don't have to drive through Fremont anymore! read more

Tuesdays through Thursdays you have to get to the station by like 7:30 am if you want a spot in the parking lot, and you aren't one of those monthly reserved payers. At that time, it's like a bad arcade game - drivers still groggy from sleep trying to dodge commuters, all while playing musical cars with the last remaining parking spots before they're gone.*. You know the driver to get the last spot feels extra special. Peeps like me who don't have to get to work that early will just get to the parking lot early and eat, talk on the phone, nap, or primp in the car just for the spot. Mondays are good until 7:50, Fridays even better, til around 8 . . . Fremont Bart continues to be used heavily especially if you're going to a sporting event at Ring Central. It's such a convenient way to travel rather than driving. You bypass all the traffic headaches paying for gas and parking fees and get to your destination calm and relaxed. You've also helped lessen the pollution problem tremendously. read more

BART is gross. Fremont is generally one of the less ghetto stations. But BART gets the job done, is an easy straight-shot commute for those who have to travel to San Francisco for work (50 minutes from Fremont to Downtown SF stops, $11.95 roundtrip), and isn't nearly as terrible as the MUNI buses in San Francisco. Because of BART, I can knock out and take a nap before heading to work versus having to drive in traffic in my car and deal with the horrid parking in downtown SF. Heck, you'll get a free show of weirdos and crazy people once in a while to entertain you on the ride. I've seen a hobo get socked in the face causing blood to flood right out of his nose for making a sexual comment to a lady and her children, to people knocked out in the weirdest positions with their mouth wide open, to a lady clipping her toenails. WORLDSTAR! Again, I just advise people to stray away from the old fabric seats as fabric holds in more bacteria. I'm pretty sure hobo piss and shart would be retained more in those fabric seats than the new leather seats. Sorry, just the rant of a germaphobe... read more

This Bart station is cleaner than ones in Berkeley, SF, and other parts of the bay. It also has parking lots, but good luck finding open spots on weekdays (especially between 9am and 3pm). Memorize your parking spot's number and pay for parking ($1.50 flat fee) inside the station after you enter with your Bart ticket. Parking is free after 3pm, and by 3pm, some spots usually open up yay! Some people park on the sidewalks that lead into this bart station. I asked a cop who told me that cars aren't allowed to park there, but the sidewalks are always packed with cars... park there at your own risk! read more

Short Story: One of the busier BART stations in the lower east bay area. Long Story: I am regular commuter of BART and here's my opinion. I like the fact that this is the first/last stop so you are guaranteed seating. The bad thing is that the parking lot fills up fast, usually about 7:45AM on the weekdays. Parking is $1.50 here, as it went up compared to last year at $1. Verdict: I'm a commuter on BART by choice...and necessity as I don't want to deal with all the traffic on the roads to SF and parking there. read more

A Bart station is a BART station no matter what. Whit that in mind I do have to say that this specific BART station feels safe and it has a good amount of parking. I have left my car there until late at night and it's fine. You can find places to eat and a decent hospital very close to this BART station. read more

Perhaps my review is skewed by the fact that I usually get on BART from bay fair but I really like this station. I grew up in Fremont and regularly took the train from here to San Francisco without worry. Today, it still seems to be the case that the station is all good. Parking is available on both sides... If you get here later in the morning like most BART stations you will find it hard to park. Restaurants and shopping (of the Fremont kind) are readily available from this stop. This station feels safe and accessible which gives it four stars in my book. read more

My favorite thing about the Fremont BART station is the fact that it is less than a five minute drive from my sister-in-law's home. In town for a conference in downtown San Francisco, I found it so much easier to stay in Fremont and commute via BART than pay exorbitant hotel prices or deal with highway traffic. Sure, the station isn't the cleanest, but it's not the worst I've seen in my travels. Plus, since it's the end of the line, you're guaranteed your choice of seats. Pick wisely, you never know who might sit down next to you. If I had to drive there, I might complain about the parking, but as I was being dropped off and picked up, I had no issues at all. Remember, as bad as BART may be for you Bay Area residents, I'm from Atlanta and have to deal with MARTA. Be thankful for what you've got. I sure am. read more

TEMPORARY PARKING CHANGES! Dates: 3/24/2016 - 4/13/2016 Just a heads up that they are doing some construction near the front area (close to where the main drop off/pick up circle is). It's currently a one-way route and cars are being redirected out the back exit where the big parking lot is. I recommend adding a few extra minutes to make your way through the line of cars, or just going straight to the back lot (which can be accessed via Mowry). There is plenty of parking in the large back lot in the afternoons and parking is free after 3pm. So it's very easy to find a spot and wait if you're picking someone up. Like everyone else has said, in terms of safety, the Fremont BART station is the best one. Not that nothing ever occurs here- I mean we do get a daily handful of schizophrenic homeless people, i.e. the guy that likes to shout at the air, "I don't give a fuck, suck my dick!" But generally those people don't really harm anyone, so no worries. The people who work here are pretty kind and helpful, at least from what others have told me and from the rest of the reviews here. I've personally never needed any assistance. As for cleanliness, things aren't too fantastic. Whaddya expect, though? This is an American public transit station. You'd be hard pressed to find a spotless transit station anywhere in the U.S. With that being said, Fremont BART is definitely a lot cleaner than most of the other BART stations. I feel so fortunate to have this BART station so close to where I live. At the moment, this is the furthest BART will go in the East Bay. There is plenty of parking here. Now, I usually don't park here because I can just walk here but I believe if you are parking here during the work week, you will have to pay a minimal fee for the day. I want to say it's like only a $1. It's also nice that they have a food vendor that offers chili cheese fries, hot dogs, burritos, and drinks for you to snack on. Since at the moment, this is the furthest BART goes to in the East Bay, it is also nice because finding a seat is pretty much easy because well, you got first dibs. Going into San Francisco, it starts to get really crowded where you may find that people are standing in front of you and shoulder to shoulder especially if there is a big event going on. The seats feel much cleaner now too since there is a plastic covering whereas before, the material used was fabric-like. Overall, I give the Fremont Bart two thumbs up! read more

I've only been here once with a friend for the Guns N' Roses concert. It's OK at best. There was plenty of parking in the lot. Don't use the restroom there unless you really have to go. It's disgusting. There's no mirror or toilet paper in there. So I had to use the seat cover. I had tissues in my purse for stuff like this. So bring tissues with you just in case. We had to get off our train and wait for the next one due to some incident there. I don't know what happened, but cops came up to the train and there were at least four or five cop cars in the lot along with a fire truck. I thought that some nutcase shooter was on the loose and that it had something to do with the concert. Thankfully I don't think that was the case. If it were though, the crisis was averted. read more

Parking? Sucks ass. Parking permits can only be purchased online. Surrounding neighborhoods and shopping plazas enforce a strict "No Bart Parking" so I definitely did not risk getting a ticket nor getting my car towed so I circled around what seems to be forever until I was on Walnut and turned left on Guardino.. blocks away I manage to find a parking spot on the street. There is a hot dog vendor outside the station for your junk food needs but keep in mind that eating and drinking on the ride is prohibited and you will be fined if caught (cameras everywhere BTW). The machines are easily accessible and quite straightforward so I'm sure only an idiot would have a problem getting a ticket. The schedules (times/departures/destinations) is always updated on the platform and the ride in general was just OK. I brought along a book I've been reading but the damn passengers were talking rudely loud over a row of seats so that ruined my book and when I tried to take a nap, I looked up only to a guy staring at my breasts.. If you do not want to drive because of a) gas b) year of the car c) traffic d) parking worries then Bart is the answer but I think next time I will either take my car or try Cal Train as suggested. read more

Can't come up with too many complaints about this station other than it's really busy. Elevators and escalators always seem to work. The station is fairly clean and has bathrooms (haven't tried them). Parking can be a disaster after 8:30am so I suggest getting dropped off or carpooling. The drop off circle is on the west side (Washington Hospital side) and can get pretty chaotic. Good luck playing Frogger getting across it. The platform is also pretty clean and has plenty of waiting space. The station overall meets expectations. read more

Like the Dubln/Pleasanton station, this is the end of the line, so you can always find a seat on the train. Good luck finding parking after 715 am on a week day though (drive to bay fair station for the next easiest parking along the bart route) As always, use Clipper for easy in and out of the station and to pay for parking. Before I had my clipper set up, the machine did eat my money, and the person at the booth was very helpful returning my money, no questions, and just took me on my word for it. read more

I use this to commute everyday to work. I do have to say the most cleanest bart station compared to all the other ones. Parking is such a pain here if you don't get here early (especially after 7am). Get the EZ-Parking / Clipper card, makes the world of difference. Fremont to SF is about $6 to $7 bucks and parking is like a little over $3, so round trip is like $15 to $16 which is not bad. read more

Where were you when the earthquake hit 26 years ago? I was standing in this BART station parking lot and had to watch ocean waves jostling cars in the paved parking lot, along with clanging windows on the office building at the southwest of this BART station. Southeast driveway to Walnut Avenue was all torn out on Sept. 1, 2015 and reopened on Oct. 19. See attached photo with the multi-ton concrete Lego blocks. Below is posted a photo of the newly-built driveway. It should be less congested since there is now a separate lane for outbound right turns and for outbound left turns. Moreover, the concrete has steel reinforcing mesh inside; so heavy vehicles such as large buses should not break up the pavement. This driveway is immediately adjacent to a sag pond (described in the photos as tule ponds at Tyson Lagoon) associated with the Hayward fault. If you look carefully, you will notice that vehicles waiting to turn left are supposed to stop a good 10 feet back, which would allow buses turning in to have an easier time of it. The crosswalk along the north side of Walnut Avenue is wider, almost too wide for pedestrians. The crosswalk across Walnut Avenue is also improved. What this means for you is that you will get in or out of the station more quickly and safely. read more

Horrible bathrooms, but ample parking on weekends. Unlike transfer stations, this place is pretty easy to navigate. Besides the dirty bathrooms, the last few times I've been at this station there have been a few weird people here (good thing or bad, I'll leave that up to you to decide). Today, there was a guy who was screaming at a sign at the bus stop. The weird part? He wasn't actually screaming. He was...lip-screaming? Not sure what the term is. How do you even rate public transportation? Lol. I live in Fremont but commute to Daly City since I'm a full-time student at SFSU. It sucks that it's a one hour ride, but at least I'm guaranteed a seat. Morning commute is packed! Sometimes passengers from South Hayward might not even get a seat. Unlike SF Muni where passengers board the bus before people get off, Bart passengers are actually polite and line up haha. I don't drive to Bart but I can see that parking is very tough if you arrive after 7:30AM. I guess the restroom and station in general is clean? I mean what do you expect out of public transportation lol. I Bart maybe once or twice a week so I'm not aware of delays all the time. But from my experience for the past 4 years, their delays are usually no more than 5 minutes. There was only one time where it was delayed by over 30 minutes due to track maintenance. read more
