1 STAR -- PETCO AT 3975 CASCADES BLVD, KENT, OH (BRIMFIELD AREA)…read more I am extremely disappointed with the staff and management at this specific Petco location. After approximately six months of bringing my puppy, Kaia, here for grooming and using Petco/Vetco for veterinary care, I have completely lost trust in this company. First incident -- September 27: I visited the store with my six-month-old puppy, who was leashed and under my supervision. She became anxious and barked at unfamiliar people and dogs. Although I redirected her, an employee accused her of attempting to attack people, told me to leave her in the car during future visits, and threatened to call the police if I brought her back. I filed a formal complaint. A Petco representative later told me that surveillance footage had been reviewed and that my puppy did not appear to be behaving aggressively. Despite this, I never received a formal written resolution or clarification about whether we were welcome to return. Second incident -- October 12: I brought Kaia back for grooming. She was nervous at first but eventually relaxed enough to approach and lick an employee before being taken inside. When I picked her up, I was told they could not brush her coat because she was uncomfortable with brushing, something she has struggled with before. The groomer also admitted she had forgotten to brush her teeth. After another attempt, she said Kaia would not allow it and offered a refund for that service. I understand that groomers should never force a distressed dog through unsafe procedures. However, I expected patience, communication, and a discussion of alternatives, especially from professionals who work with animals every day. What shocked me most was when the groomer told me that her manager did not want Kaia returning for future grooming appointments if they could not brush her. After six months as a customer, I was essentially told my puppy was no longer welcome for grooming because she was anxious and uncomfortable with brushing. No manager spoke directly with me, and no meaningful alternatives were discussed. This happened at the SAME location where I had previously filed a complaint. I cannot say whether the incidents were connected, but the situation made me extremely uncomfortable. I even left a $10 tip despite the incomplete services and disappointing experience. I contacted Customer Care again and filed another formal complaint because my original concerns had never received a satisfactory written resolution. Petco has lost a loyal customer. I will no longer use this location for grooming and have decided to take my puppy's veterinary care elsewhere as well. Dogs, especially puppies, may need patience and understanding. I expected better communication, compassion, and professionalism from a business dedicated to animal care. I would not recommend this Petco location, especially to owners of nervous or anxious puppies.

Took my dog to bathe him at the store since it's hard to do at home (he always tries to run away)…read more I asked the cashier if I had to pay now or later and she told me whatever I preferred so I decided to pay after. LOVE the shampoo and conditioner options. I brought my own thinking they wouldn't have any but they had so many! My dog came home smelling like strawberries and cream :) (Do note that they don't have brushes but I brought my own). He also kept stealing some of the treats from the bins as I browsed to find him new treats. Got a good deal on some low calorie treats. Honestly the best part was the price. The cashier told me they had a special: one bath for $10 or 5 for $25. It was a no-brainer to get the $25 deal since I know I'll be coming back soon. I'm so used to paying $15 per wash in California before I moved to Ohio that it was such a relief to hear and made my day!

I didn't like the treatment of the fish. There were about 50 goldfish squished into a 10 gallon tank, each about 2 inches long. According to the golden rule, you should aim for 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon of water in your tank. This means that the tank was extremely overstocked. I hope this was a temporary set up or something of the sort. Also, an employee dropped a fish on the floor while attempting to get it for another customer, then proceeded to fumble with it on the floor for a solid few seconds. It made me sad. Other than that, the store was clean and organized, it seemed pretty good for the fuzzy pets. Not so much for the swimmers I suppose.

The store was well-lit with nice wide aisles so it was easy to navigate a cart. The checkout process was easy too with many lanes open. Menards... Where do I start? I ordered a few things online. I got the series of emails and texts…read moreabout the order being ready. One of the emails said to drive through delivery but smaller orders could be picked up inside. The smart assed kid working up front could not have been more rude than he was. I asked him about picking up inside and he said "It's in the very back right corner of the store." I said "But that is the same place you go to if you drive through. Why do you bother saying small orders can be picked up inside?" He snapped at me and said "It's in the far right corner of the store sir." Younger me would have grabbed him by the shirt and slapped him silly for being that disrespectful, but as a man now probably 50 years older than him, I let it go. I went to use the drive through, which requires scanning a QR code from your phone. However, following links to get to the QR code took me in a circular loop where I MUST create an account. I will NOT set up an account. Every account you create is one more place a criminal can try to steal your identity, because businesses (like Menards) sell your information to scammers and hackers. I am an older man and a disabled Vietnam veteran. Menards stores are the size of an indoor sports arena. My old, tired legs simply don't have the steps in them to walk from the front door of Menards all the way to the furthest point of the store and then back again. I then thought "Maybe if I just drive to a closer entrance." Well, there are other doors, but they don't open from outside. Apparently they choose to presumptively accuse me and everybody else entering the store of intending to slip in and out of that door without paying for a bag of wing nuts... And it's not like you really save a ton of money shopping there. Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart... there are all within a dollar or so on everything they sell. You don't really "save more money at Menards". So, rude employees, demanding that everybody open an account so they can spam your email, and an extremely uncomfortable store experience for older people with mobility issues will keep me out of there forever. Now let's see how long they delay sending me a refund for the order I just cancelled. So call these people out for how awful the customer experience is.

I specifically asked if they saw Russian tortoises and was told they do- the doctor I saw was beyond unprofessional and misdiagnosed my tort. Thanks to her ignorance (as well as Memorial Animal Hospitals who had previously , it cost me over $600.00 to have Paul hospitalized & treated correctly. However, that was in 2012 & I feel things have drastically improved since. My previous vet really screwed my family & I over & after years of not making any progress with my dogs treatment I decided to give Stow-Kent another try. I could not be more grateful to the staff at the Kent office & in the Stow location. Timmy had developed masses after being put on a prescription diet, they remained the same size & in the same location for over 5 years. To my surprise, they suddenly increased in size & new ones developed within a two month time period. Naturally I panicked and feared for the worst. Thankfully, Dr. Angela Albers was able to not only provide excellent service but use her remarkable skills to help put my mind at ease and provide the care my dog needed. Timmy is my life! We have both been homeless, beat, fought and made fun of for our appearance; he provides me with the acceptance, love & understanding that only a loyal pet could. With this being said, the staff at both offices clearly went over my options for treatment and the difference in cost for each. Timmy went in for blood work and had his masses removed the very next day. The staff was polite and answered all of my questions when I called for an update, provided me with clear instructions for his care afterwards & called the next day to see how his recovery was going. Timmy had 8 masses removed & biopsied which is a lot for a 28 lbs older dog to go through but you would never know that he had surgery. Minus the random shaved spots of hair, Dr. Albers did a remarkable job stitching up his wounds; you can barely see where they are. They gave us plenty of pain medications to manage the situation and had the results of the biospy within two weeks. Thankfully, the masses are lipomas and only one was melanoma. Dr. Albers was kind enough to explain what the results meant and wanted to do additional stain testing to make sure the melanoma wasn't cancerous. Again, the entire staff were absolutely fantastic during this process and reached out to me as soon as they received the final test results. Finding out that my best friend is cancer free is the first time in my entire life were I've cried tears of joy. I could never, ever find the words to thank everyone again for attacking the situation in a timely fashion before it was too late. And for providing my dog & I with the respect and care that was deserved. It has been over two weeks since and Timmy is back to his self and pain free :)

I brought my elderly cat in when she wasn't feeling well and it took days and several times of me contacting them and before they told me they didn't know what was wrong and wanted me to pay to have the tests done again. I just had a question she rudely told me they didn't have anything available and I should just go to an emergency vet. Then I tied to make an appointment for a later date and she was so extremely rude I just told her it's okay. I'm going to find someone else. Another instance I had a problem with them was when I brought in my cat who kept throwing up and I was worried. They said "he's fine!" After charging me hundreds for bloodwork. A week or so later he got worse and I took him to an emergency vet and they took x rays and he had a bowel obstruction! The only good thing about this place is a few of the vet techs are sweet and you can tell they care about your pets.
