Martin, the installation angel!…read more We moved into a new place in Capitol Hill in the beginning of August. The place was adorable as most Capitol Homes are but also quite tiny. We didn't have any storage so our entire premise for moving in was built around being able to hang our bikes on the room in our den. Upon moving in we quickly learned that the walls were a mix of plaster and brick and too difficult for us to work with. I was completely distraught not knowing what we'd do. We found Martin and he was like angel sent from above and solved all of our installation woes. I called him and got his voicemail which instructed me to email him. I emailed him, left a voicemail the next day as a reminder and then he got back to me by email. His prices were around what others were charging (a little less which was a perk) but what sold us was that he had availability a few days later. He confirmed he was coming the day before and let me know by text when he was on his way. He worked quickly and cleaned up each room when he was done. We had him install 3 bike shelves plus 7 other things in total. Along the way he found plaster, dry wall, wood, cinder block, and brick. Martin made our home exactly how we wanted it to be. If you live in an old home and feel wary about hanging things, give Martin a call!

I talked to Eric and he was fantastic! He was able to get his team in quickly, the work was performed far beyond anything I'd expected, and both he and his on-site foreman were very responsive. We had two challenges, both of which Eric and his team overcame with speed, quality delivery, and excellent customer service. We were working on a tight timetable, so I was receiving store fixtures while construction was ongoing. Eric and his team were able to work around this without any problems. Second, my initial flooring choice became unavailable between the time I selected it and ordering. When this happened, Eric and I went down to Home Depot together and found another option that looked better, was higher quality, and cost less. I cannot recommend Eric and A&E construction enough! 100% would use again. In fact, I have some upcoming work that I need to do on my home. I bid this job to five other companies, but I'll just be reaching out to Eric directly on that one.

His team is very nice and the work is amazing. We had 21 different quotes and hands down felt comfortable with Eric. He won't try to price hike after a contract begins, provides detailed updates, and quickly understands what you want. Our project was as close to a gut renovation as you could get without demoing the whole place. The project turned out amazing and was done within 2 months. We moved walls, changed flooring, the entire kitchen, stairs and rail system, new ceilings, paint, trim, and so much more. On top of the great work, he provides a warranty on all his work. I highly recommend A&E for any project. I won't use any other contractor besides them.

We sought estimates from other contractors but we felt none of them measured up to H&C in terms of their professionalism, customer service, and attention to detail. They have a deep and talented team that was incredibly knowledgeable and responsive to all of our questions no matter how small or complex. Even from the very beginning, before we had finalized a design or signed a contract, Luis and his team's responsiveness and professionalism always made us feel as though we were a valued client. That continued throughout the entire process as we worked with them to develop a design that fit within our budget. Fabio was assigned as our project manager and we couldn't be more thankful for him! He was on top of every last detail and when we had two unforeseen issues come up during demolition, he was quick to provide us a thorough assessment of the issue, several options, and his professional recommendation. It was extremely evident that Fabio and his crew that were here every day were a strong team and it was reflected in their daily communications, their craftsmanship, and their meticulous attention to detail. We'll definitely recommend H&C to our friends and family for any remodeling projects. We're looking forward to enjoying our new kitchen for years to come!

They quoted an excellent price so we made a deposit of half of the price and we established a date in the fall to do the installation. They came with two people on the exact date we requested and they proceeded to do an excellent preparation of the area to be sodded by removing some weeds, roto-tilling and levelling that took many hours. It was more work than we had expected since the proposal only specified "light site preparation". On the next day they arrived with the sod and proceeded to do an excellent job of installing, watering and rolling it. When they were finished it looked beautiful. The men were very accommodating to our requests and very pleasant to work with. Based on our experience we would highly recommend Blue Collar Scholars to other customers.

Amazing contractor!!!…read more Lawrence and his crew did a complete renovation of our basement to build an apartment for my parents. From the design through completion, it was a great experience. I found them here on Yelp and I obtained 3 quotes for the job. I had the quotes reviewed by an independent contractor who told me L&R's quote was what the job should reasonably cost. I called 4 references who all had a similar and very positive experience. Lawrence always communicated with me about schedule which had not been the case with other contractors. They were there working on my job every day, not showing up once or twice a week like some others. Any fluctuation to schedule or budget was discussed and agreed upon by both parties. We had a couple of unexpected plumbing delays but that was due to the original build not being up to the current code. I changed direction on a couple of design decisions and Lawrence was right there with me. The work was exceptional and the end product is amazing. I have had the nightmare contractor experience so was very cautious. This was exactly as the process should be and I plan to have them back in the fall to do more work. I give them my highest recommendation!

This review has been a long time coming, and I meant to write it 4 months ago -- but life happens…read more Wow, where do I start? First and foremost, we are incredibly grateful that we happened to connect with Anthony from VR Home Renovation by chance. Our water heater burst and flooded our home. Since this was on the third floor, it caused damage to all the other floors -- including the subfloors, ceilings, walls, and electrical systems. We were absolutely devastated when we couldn't find anyone available to help. The options we found were either extremely expensive or had no availability at all. After tirelessly searching and calling around, we finally connected with Anthony. He provided us with a bid the same day and was able to start the very next day! We were blown away by his responsiveness and professionalism. From that moment on, he kept us informed about every step, providing clear timelines and updates, requesting permits and taking care of everything. He and his team were incredibly organized and efficient. Thanks to Anthony, our stressful situation was made so much easier. We didn't have to hire anyone else -- he took care of everything, and at a very reasonable price. Our flooring, which had to be specially ordered, was originally expected to take three months, but Anthony did the impossible and got it to us within weeks. We are truly thankful for Anthony and his team. You are in GREAT hands with them -- they made a difficult time so much more manageable, and we couldn't recommend them more! 1000% we would hire them back.

(The convectors were installed by a different company, so they coordinated with them nicely). They also installed a brand-new lighting fixture on the bedroom ceiling (lots of concrete drilling involved), hung a metal shelf in the bathroom, and closed all the holes in the kitchen left by the previous contractor when the kitchen was remodeled. GE Construction made my vision for my kitchen and dining renovation come to life! This was not an…read moreuncomplicated renovation. The wall between the kitchen and dining contained duct work for both the dining room and upstairs, plumbing was done to the code of 1960 when the house was built, and previous owners/flippers did things in slapdash ways that made the process harder than it needed to be. But at the end of the day, what I sketched out came to life, and beautifully! Andrii and his team worked with all the things I really wanted out of my kitchen (including using existing appliances, so they had to move them around the space a lot while working, and some fancy stuff that is non-standard including that crazy butterfly sink that you see in some of the afters!), worked to bring things current (like moving plumbing off exterior walls, so I no longer have to worry about pipes freezing), and got it done. A total transformation! The price was middling among quotes, and I felt it was a great value since I got quality work and didn't have to do much (like ordering stuff...Andrii always had someone who could get things at a normal/retail price without me doing it). Job completed around our "contingency" finish date, which was only one week more than the "we hope to finish by" date, which is really good for a project of this scope. I am very satisfied, and if I didn't drive them crazy, will be using them for my bathrooms in a few years!
