This place has REALLY good wines for prices you can afford! A really popular/great wine is the Chenin Blanc which was only $12 at the winery. A pleasant place to taste wine. I left with the Special Reserve Chardonnay, the Muscat Canelli and the Renegade Sauvignon Blanc. I'm not a huge fan of their reds but I didn't get to taste some of the oldest reserves they had. I felt like the Cab and Pinot Noir in todays tasting could use some time. Their staff were knowledgeable and and kept their cool even when a group of overly loud Texans gulped down their flights of free wine and then revealed they weren't planning on purchasing any wine while in wine country. While passing through Anderson Valley en route to Mendocino my guy and I discovered this wonderful winery. The tasting room was charming, and the staff was very knowledgeable. It's family owned and has a great selection. During our tasting we decided to join their wine club. The reserve Chardonnay has become one of our all time favorite wines, and we always look forward to our shipments. Their tasting room is pretty much a hut on a nice little picnic garden. They get extra props from me for having "personal spit cups" (read Dixie cups) freely available. Overall, I was sortuva underwhelmed by Husch. They've become fairly famous for their whites which I found nice but nothing fantastic. Their 2003 Pinot Noir was a touch too spicy for me but it would be nice to see it with some age. The 2002 Reserve Pinot was right on the money but it was $31. Husch was the first winery my friends and I visited in Anderson Valley, and we had a great time! The tasting room is a 110-year old cottage, and it was really quaint and charming. The man serving us was extremely friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about the wine. Unfortunately, I forgot to get his name. I am a club member and very happy to be one. Was first introduced to the Husch Cab in Mendocino at the Bay View Cafe. It was the 2003 vintage and fell in love with it. I now own 8 bottles of the cab. 2/2001, 3/2002 and 3/2003 and also keep at least 5 of the 04 on hand. Also the Pinot Noir is to die for. The desert wine is the best I have ever tasted, not to sweet, just right. Would give 10 stars if I had them. read more

Love love love this winery!!! We stopped in last summer on our way home from Manchester Beach. The winery is a larger wooden shed with tons of beautiful flowers and ivy with green everywhere!! The staff was very friendly and very nice. Free tastings, generous and every white was amazing!!! We are trying to figure a day to come back and get a stock pile! Stop by if you are in the area! Well worth it! Also they have picnic areas so bring a lunch. read more

Quaint little tasting hut right in the middle of the vineyard. We knew we were in Mendocino when one of the pourers came in talking about the organic wheat grass/antioxidant/digestive tract regulating juice blend and drinking it out of a mason jar. Ahh, coastal hippies. The wines are tasty and worth trying, however we weren't swayed enough by any of them to buy. We did purchase their Mojo Red table wine, which they didn't have open for tasting. Apparently we liked them enough to give this a shot. read more

Husch is popular at B&B or restaurant in Mendocino coast. Their wine tasting room is small but cozy, friendly and free up to 6 wine tasting. Their pinot noir were better than white but not as impressed as Toulouse's pinot noir. read more

I'ms o glad my boyfriend insisted on stopping at Husch on our way through Anderson Valley. What a cute little tasting room! The space at the tasting bar is tight, but there was only one other pair wine tasting when we arrived, so there was plenty of room. We were served by the older gentleman, who was incredibly friendly and knowledgable regarding the wines being poured. We were offered side-by-side pairings and he even offered some suggestions as to what meals would go best with each wine. Everything was pretty good. We ended up leaving with a bottle of the dry Gewurtz for Thanksgiving dinner. And free tastings are the best. We'll come back to this place! read more

Husch is a smaller family winery in the Anderson Valley. Its quite a ways from the crowds in Napa and Sonoma, but worth the trip. Their prices are reasonable, and they have very good wines, particularly Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc (with the cooler climate, don't look for a big cab). Good wine at a good price, with a friendly staff and a nice location... you can't get much better of a place for a wine tasting. Their wine club is 12 bottles a year, and they have events like a party at the winery to get behind the scenes tours, etc. A nice place, well worth the visit. read more

Yummy Pinot and surpising good Cab produced here. The tasting room is adorable with a warm staff that truly appreciates good company. The reserves are also above average and you can tell that the wine maker definitely knows what they are doing. The price point of the wine also makes it quite attractive in that you would easily pay more for lesser quality. 3 1/2 stars easy. read more

Super selection of estate bottled wines at fair prices, and with a great tasting room staff. At prices ranging from 20-40 we saw this as "every day" wine, very drinkable now, as our "long term storage" is full. We also appreciated the selection of half bottles, since we often want "just a glass" at night or with a picnic. There was no tasting charge---very much appreciated. Lastly, this winery is smart and offers "tasting room only" wines, which add an air of "special souvenier" to our purchases. We don't like to buy wines we can get at Costco for less. Tasting notes: We enjoyed and purchased the following: Our favorite: 2002 Mendocino Cabernet Sauvignon: Not too "huge." Nice and mellow, lots of fruit, to enjoy on its own, which is our personal preference. We bought both bottles and half bottles of this. 2004 Mendocino Renegade Sauvignon Blanc: Wonderfully light and fruit forward, but with a fuller body in it, the way we like it.--due to their use of wild, or "renegade" yeast. We're fans of biodiversity, and in this case the yeast adds an unexpected and welcome complexity to a good quality grape. Competes well with Duckhorn SB, at about 75% of the cost. 2002 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Reserve. We loved its rich taste and drinkability. Also liked the half bottles. We enjoyed several other wines, including their Zinfandel, which showed its Pepper on the finish, not the front. We also like the Single Vinyard Cabernet, but we had too many others like it on the shelf right now for the price. all in all, a place we'd go back to. Still loving the Muscat Canelli that I have been getting at Husch for 25 years but didn't love the tasting experience this visit. I was particularly searching for a wine I got there last year with a strong rose nuance but couldn't get the busy tasting guide to assist me to identify it. One of the cutest tasting rooms I've ever seen--a little cabin. I guess that's not the most important thing in tasting, but it was very cozy and relaxing. Overall, the majority of the wines were average, but the 2002 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Reserve was outstanding. It really is something special. I also enjoyed the 2005 Mendocino Chenin Blanc. At only $11 it is very reasonable, tastes great, and will pair well with some crab or a hot evening. read more

That said, many of the wines were really good and those that I really liked happened to be among the cheaper ones. The Chenin Blanc was very very good. Stopped here on a scenic drive through Medocino county. This place was very peaceful and beautiful. The tasting room is a bit small but the people are knowledgeable and nice. I'm not a red wine kind of person so I jumped into the white. As i went down the list I was strucked by the amazing Muscat, it was soo delicious. Your tongue will right away grab the rose aroma then leading to a nice lychee lingering scent. Sweet and refreshing. I had a snag a bottle. I was also introduce to Gewurtzraminer. Bough a bottle of juice made with Gewurtzraminer wine grape after tasting the pure goodness of the juice. You get what you pay for here. Can't wait to go back when they harvest. read more

There was no charge for a tasting at Husch and they give you up to 6 different pours. We had a lovely younger woman, who i regret not getting the name of, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. She made us feel very comfortable and even though there were others in the tasting room, she made sure we were attended to and happy. They have a nice trio of Pinots that were fun to taste and compare and they also have a fantastic selection of sweeter wines, their Muscat and Gewurztraminer were sweet and fresh. read more
