This is long overdue. I waited to see if there would be a different outcome, but it appears not. This is by far the most UNPROFESSIONAL experience I've ever had. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. I found Mr. Hurd's company on Thumbtack and, trusting it to be a reputable platform, paid in advance for moving services. Mr. Hurd communicated regularly--right up until moving day. Then, the day I needed him most, he completely ghosted me. No calls, no texts, nothing. I gave him all of Friday, Saturday, and most of Sunday to respond and make things right. He never did. He didn't even have the decency to offer me a refund. My family and I--none of us professional movers--had to rush to move everything ourselves in the rain. When I finally reached out again days later asking for a refund, he suddenly responded, promising to return my money. It's now been almost two days since that promise, and I still haven't seen a single cent. Do not trust this company. Save yourself the stress, disappointment, and financial loss. So I decided to give this company a chance even though they seem pretty new given the lack of reviews at the time. I like to support small business, and I understand that there may be a few hiccups given the lack of experience, but this move was worst than I could have imagined. I was asked what time I would like to schedule and I said 9am, they came at 10:30am. Not a problem, right? Life happens. Then the credit card machine didn't work. Not a problem, I used Venmo at their request. I even paid before they finished loading the truck at the FIRST home, because they needed the money for supplies or something. Then I stood there cringing as they dragged my wooden furniture across the house to the truck instead of properly wrapping the items and lifting them. The technique seem to be to hold as many tables/ stands at once so they didn't have to make multiple trips to the truck, hence the dragging, instead of taking them one at a time, or having two people lift an item, even though there was a three person team. They then had to continuously rearrange the truck for the furniture to fit, so they kept leaving all the furniture on the wet grass/ dirt outside. I STILL didn't say anything at this point. They also continually ask for supplies such as tape, bags for parts, and tools to dissemble the furniture. They did try their best to avoid taking apart furniture, they preferred twisting and turning them through the standard size doorway as much as possible. They were successful at times with the maneuvering but at the cost of the furniture being strained. My nursery recliner was stained and my wooden L-shaped desk was damaged at the seams. They struggled with dissembling my daybed and crib. Then when we arrived to the destination home, they couldn't find the parts to reassemble the furniture and blamed me for not "holding these parts,"which I wasn't even present for while the furniture was dissembled. They then wanted my husband to go back to initial location (30 minutes each way) to look for the missing parts. But guess what? They eventually found the parts in the only tool bag I saw them carry around. No apology just became disrespectful at this point. They had burned through the time allotted, and I finally voiced that I was unhappy with the service and told them we would assemble the furniture ourselves. They did not like this and became even more unprofessional and abruptly dropped the last of my stuff in the house. Thankfully my husband and I are pretty handy so we were able to reassemble the furniture with ease, even though they had combined the parts of the daybed and crib into one bag. Who does that? They did however scratch the paint on the walls of the new house, and broke my antique, marble lamp stand. Hope this review helps you all, especially the ladies in charge of organizing the household. I would not recommend this business to anyone with a multi room home or delicate furniture. If you are fine with brazen force and your furniture taking some hits, Hurd's Helpers may work for you, but otherwise look elsewhere for good service. ON March of 2024 my wife and I used these guys to move our things into a storage until our home was completed. Upon transporting our belongings they damaged a glass that goes to our center entertainment table, broke my wife's statue and then lost my wife's expensive mirror. We have trying to get them own up and cover the damages. I had them tell they would take care of my claims. That was BS, DO NOT USE THEM unless you want the things you worked so hard for DAMAGED!!!!! read more

This was our first time using a moving company. There were other quotes I received from other companies that ranged from $800-1300. Hurd's prices were within my budget of less than $500. It was still great quality work and they were quick. I was very impressed by their price for a 3-4 hour job. The owner was very kind and answered immediately on Yelp and when I called his number for further information. He reassured that his guys don't like wasting time. Surely enough, we estimated 4 hrs to be conservative, but the workers were quick and got the move completed in 3 hours. The owner followed up with us and we were very pleased with their service. If Julius is your crew lead for Hurd's , just don't use them . Several hours past scheduled move time, many excuses to why service was late, finally told they had moved another client " on list " as they could not reach us the night before but did not have a problem the actual morning of move. Julius was very argumentative when questioned about any of these issues. This company was apparently subcontracted through another service, so beware who is actually doing the work. read more

Hurd's Helpers Moving Services are the absolute best! If I could rate them above 5 stars I would. If you're looking for a moving company, look no further. My entire experience has been amazing from the start. Julius accommodated my quick turnaround move in a very professional manner and didn't turn me away after learning the logistics of my move (tad of a distance). After speaking with Julius on the phone, I immediately knew this was the company I was going to go with based off how sincere and honest he was with my quote. I was nervous about hitting I4 traffic mid-day on a Sunday, and Julius assured me that there was nothing to worry about and that he was going to take care of my move and did just that! The 2 movers arrived the day of my move and meant business! They even arrived a tad early which was even better. They were also very kind and respectful throughout this entire process. They finished bringing all of my stuff downstairs within a span of 20-25 minutes. I was AMAZED by how motivated and quick they were. They were fast, efficient, and careful with every single item. Same goes for when they unloaded everything at my new place. I was preparing myself for long move and it actually ended up taking way less time than expected. Thanks to Hurd's Helpers I was able to move on time and the Two young men that did my move were true professionals. Their "Can/Will do attitude was refreshing. When they arrived it was nonstop moving and they also disassembled my 4poster heavy bed and dining table and reassembled at my new home. Nothing was broken. Best movers in a long time and I'm happy I chose them. I did the search through YELP, and was given plenty of options. Do not trust Julius. He will reschedule your move and then lie to you about it. Money hungry and full of excuses. Do not recommend. Be cautious of getting this guy as a sub from other companies as well. read more
