I've always had great pleasure dealing with Hurd. I've purchased and leased vehicles from them, and they've always been up front and clear about what rebates I do and don't qualify for. Sometimes that means I have to adjust my expectations, and I accept that. Ultimately, I've known what I wanted going in there, and I've always been taken care of happily. The facility is clean, waiting area is huge, and bathrooms are nice. Their service department is personable and on the upswing. My vehicles have always been cared for in a timely manner, and when something happens out of their control, they've always been in communication with me about it. The parts department is helpful as well. Give them a chance; as long as you are fair about your expectations, they will be too. And remember, buying a Used car is buying someone else's problem. If you don't like the repair bill for your 10-year old car, maybe that's not their fault. read more

I would not bring my vehicles nor buy from you again even if you were the last dealership around. Please stop being desperate and get employees who know how to market to the right people. I have been coming here for about 10 years. The service was always amazing, until about 3 years ago there has been a steady decline in the service, responsiveness and just general lack of focus on customer satisfaction. The feeling I get every time I go in, is - we are busy and you are lucky to have us service your car when WE can. Try getting a call back - yeah right! And when you get someone, for example Tom who was the WORST out of all of them, they had an attitude. Honestly even when I PAID my bill, the girl didn't acknowledge me. Initially made an appointment to look at a Hyundai Elantra, I showed up and they told me it was sold (should have contacted me Before I showed up to look at it...)Walked in the door and I was greeted by the front desk. I told them exactly what I wanted, in a certain price range and a certain year...they showed me three separate cars and none of them were part of the description I gave them. They kept trying to convince me of getting a different vehicle when I already knew what I wanted..The person that was helping me barely spoke to me. I was hesitant at first to come here due to the reviews but they had the used truck I wanted at the right price so I gave it a shot. I worked with Devin and the used car sales manager and I have to say I am very pleased. I was treated fairly and both were easy to deal with and responsive to my questions and needs. I did find an issue after picking up the car and left a message on a Saturday afternoon with them to bring it to their attention and see what they were willing to do. The following Monday Devin has gotten in touch and we scheduled a time to bring the car back in to have it taken care of. My mother has been looking for a new car for a few years now. She found an ad on Hurd's website listing a Buick Encore for $18,500 pending an appropriate trade-in (without the trade-in, the sale price was a little over $20,000). After calling, making an appointment to view the car, test driving the vehicle, and indicating that she was interested in moving forward with the purchase, we were informed that the website had been plagued with "errors" since they were working with a new marketing company. The price was then represented as closer to $25,000. The sales person was mildly apologetic, and we left without attempting to negotiate any further. By far the most incompetent business that I have come across. I've had experiences with several dealerships as has my family and we can all agree that Hurd is the bottom of the barrel. I walked in knowing the car I wanted with my own financing all set. They tried to force me into a filling out a credit app "just in case" even though I had my own finance company with a low rate. I said I would but wouldn't allow them to run my credit through all their banks like they wanted, there was no need. After that small battle, I agree to purchase the car, pick it up a week later. Sat for an hour and half waiting for paperwork to be drawn up even though I gave them the time frame I was coming in. They said they were swamped, the place was empty many times during my wait. The car that was supposed to be detailed had globs of wax between every single panel of the car and a strange smell inside. Popped the hood and there was an animal nest sitting right there in the engine bay. Some detail they did. After that I had to wait another full week after picking it up to have them register it as they were so disorganized/careless that it took countless phone calls/emails, many that went unanswered, to make them actually acknowledge the situation and finally get them to get it done. My displeasure and dissatisfaction were made very clear the entire time but I gave them the chance to make things right, they couldn't have cared less however. I would never recommend Hurd to anyone looking to buy a car or service/detail it. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

Worst experience ever! To save time I filled out a finance application online. I was then contacted by someone at the dealership who set up a time for me to come in, meet the manager and go over my finance application. I was very clear in saying that I'd have my three children with me so anything I can do to save time let me know. I arrived at 11am, spoke with a salesman (not the manager), sat down and talked about my situation. They then told me I had to fill out another finance application. I test drove a car, came back in to talk numbers (mind you I had my three small children with me). He told me "this is what we can do" and I agreed. I signed all the documents and was told to come back for 4pm to pick up the car because they were going to clean it, vacuum it out and make it look nice to drive home. We came back an hour later all excited. We sat around for ANOTHER hour and a half to talk to the finance officer. They had me call my insurance company to forward the binder and switch cars, I had to update my license with the correct address, I even took everything out of my car ready to put in the new one. They even took my plates off. FIVE HOURS LATER the finance officer came over and said they couldn't do it for that price. We were there from 11am-5pm and left with no new car, 3 tired and crying and disappointed children. What a complete waste of time. Sad thing is the place had NO customers there so I don't understand why this process took forever and our salesmen couldn't even face us to say "hey were trying to contact the bank" or "there might be an issue". Instead he lied saying "we're almost all set" and hid in another office, leading us to believe we were definitely getting a new car. He Couldn't even sit with us. We were lead on and lied too. Hurd Auto Mall is a dealership that uses deception as a tool to deceive the unsuspecting. Brought my vehicle in to have a diagnostic test performed to determine an after ignition problem. To begin, to plug in to the OBD I and to read the codes are a matter of minutes. After forty-five minutes, I inquired as to what had transpired. Customer service said it would be ready shortly. Nearly thirty minutes later, the 'mechanic' drove the car near the service desk. I asked the 'mechanic' what were the results. He mentioned the carburetor as needing repair. As I entered my vehicle, I noticed the (SES) 'Service Engine Soon Light' activated (being lit). I brought this to his attention stating that the SES light was not on upon bringing my vehicle in. He said he could not fix that. Moving to the service desk, I spoke with the Service Manager, whom tried to snow me stating, " My carburetor needed rebuilding; specifically mentioning the metering rods. However, we had the carburetor rebuilt by a certified dealership just two months prior. I moved to the cashier and demanded my money back, as the money was quickly credited back to my bank card. Now I had to contend with the (SES) which was the fault of a Hurd mechanic which had limited knowledge. Returned to previous dealership to diagnosis the issue with the (SES) light. The problem was found and the cost was around $175.00. There was nothing wrong with the carburetor as Hurd stated and wrote in the repair estimate. I asked Hurd Auto Mall to be reimbursed for the problem they caused. I had a three way conversation with Chris Hurd, the service adviser, and apparently a woman. When the conversation was complete, Hurd refused to provide the money for the damage they caused, rather offering me coupons for service in the future at Hurd. I refused and started litigation. To sum this up, I won the decision in the lower court, whereas the service manager could not even comprehend a schematic diagram. This decision was appealed by Hurd in Superior Court as I moved to challenge the appeal. After numerous motions, a lengthy amount of filing documents, and paperwork, this came to the floor nearly five years later. Hurd Auto Mall decided to pay the fees rather than to seek a trial. By the way, my vehicle is a show vehicle, being the lead vehicle in the motorcade: Oldsmobile 100th Anniversary Celebration in Lansing, Michigan in 1997. Okay experience when you buy a car, however, if you have any issues after you buy their car forget getting any help there. The female general manager is extremely unhelpful and rude. I asked for her assistance for a serious matter and she was very defensive and her demeanor was absolutely uncalled for and incredibly unprofessional. The service managers are also rude, which leads me to think their unprofessionalism comes from upper management down. There is zero customer service at Hurd. read more

If only the initial sales was my only interaction, I would have gave it 5 stars. Had a great buying experience no pressure, no hassle. New Sales Manager is doing a lot better than the old one. However, their Service Department has some shining stars, but they're dulled by the overall underwhelming quality of service. Chuck the Advisor was great, professional, courteous and set expectations well. However the testing and actual work that was done is less than acceptable. It was a cooler evening when I picked up my truck and didn't try the AC until I got down the road. The truck was in for service for a In-Cabin filter replacement. I turn on the fan and it's pretty clear to me it was rushed back together or something fell in. That didn't bother me so much as to the hassle it was to make an appointment to have it fixed. I called that day and left a message for the scheduler to call me back. No Response, I wait about a week later, still no call. I call back and am told there is only one person who does the scheduling and they have left for the day and she'll call you back. I wait almost another week and called around 8:45 or so in the morning, again no one in the office to take appointment, they'll call you back. I get a call and to my own fault was in a meeting when they called. I then called them back and got voicemail, I leave a message. So now half the day goes by and still no call. I then call again and ask for service, she said they're on the line right now would you mind holding, I hold for 5 minutes only to get put into some voicemail system. I call back and get disconnected not once, not twice but 3 times. I call back and ask for the Service Manager and he is unavailable. I ask for Chris Hurd and I'm dumped into his voicemail. I call again and finally speak to someone to schedule the appointment, they got me in fairly quickly which makes sense since it's so hard to get in touch with a scheduler..... we'll update again post service. read more

Avoid service!!!! I went there for an oil change on 8/10 and they sold me a transmission flush. On 9/23 my transmission died and it cost me over $4500 to get the running again. Hurd claims 0 respondsibility even though the hoses were moist when it died (fluid leaking). They don't stand behind their work!!! read more

My husband who has waited 14 years to buy a new truck finally found exactly what he wanted here. After negotiating a bit over the phone the price was agreed upon and we were told to come in to do the paperwork. The dealership is a half hour away from our home, we called before leaving to give them notice of our arrival. We drove all the way there and were told we needed a bank check for our deposit.... luckily our bank had a branch right down the street so it took almost no time but why wouldn't the salesman say we needed this prior? We get back to be told it would be AN HOUR AND A HALF WAIT to meet with the loan officer!! We were upset and left but the moment we got home we got a call to come back that everything was all set. Back my husband goes to the dealership to wait another HOUR AND A HALF! On top of this complete inconvenience there're unable to give us the monthly payments that were agreed upon during negotiations. Poor customer service, extremely unorganized, the manager seemed to reprimand the salesman and embarrass everyone involved. Complete nightmare buying experience! Picking up the truck was the least amount of headache but still no speedy special service just a tad better than the bs leading up. read more

They will say whatever to get you to come to their dealership, and when you get there, big deal they told you about is so fetched it's shocking. We complaint and the manager basically said if you just want to vent there's nothing I can do for you. But if you want numbers I can give you those. My recommendation? I gotta say, this was the best car buying experience I've ever had. Go see Ed, he tells it like it is and makes you feel comfortable. We haggled a little (guy's gotta do his job!) but it was quick and painless. I got a decent trade in, he got my payment where I needed it to be, and I never felt pressured or screwed over. I even scored a free year of Sirius which other dealerships didn't offer. He went over all the bells and whistles in my new truck and I left feeling very comfortable operating everything. He even drove the first part of the test drive so he could show me everything and I'd be able to check them out without having to watch the road. He didn't blast explicit rap music to show me how loud the speakers were like I experienced at another dealership that day, and he was highly knowledgable of the vehicles he sells unlike another dealership I encountered where the kid didn't know anything. Sales department was top notch. I knew exactly what I wanted. Paid cash. They did not push any extras. Unfortunately the service department phone communication was possibly the worst I have ever experienced. No call backs. every call went to a voicemail. Used vehicle purchase had major mechanical issues. Dealership repaired every one without exception. They took a huge loss on the sale and took it on the chin. It took longer then expected but they did handle everything under warranty and gave us a rental vehicle for the duration of the repair. Dennis in sales is possibly the best I have ever worked with. Overall they are a very reputable dealer. They need better customer management with phone calls in the service department. I would without hesitation buy another vehicle from them. read more

Everything with this Service experience was much better than originally anticipated. Last time I was at this dealership was over 10 years ago and it left a sour taste in my mouth. After a recomendation from a colleague, I reached out to Wendy (gm) and she was Amazing to work with in getting my car to all of you for Service, she really went above & beyond to accomidate me. Hurd Auto Mall is the worst. I made an appointment sometime last week to drop my car off for service...all I needed was a simple diagnostic. I brought it in yesterday morning at 8:00am - 15 min before my appointment - and they had it all day. I called to follow up at 5pm, at which time they told me that they didnt even have a chance to look at my car and "hopefully" they would get a chance to check it out today. I called this morning to see if they had a loaner available...because I'm going on day 2 being stuck in the house without a car and I have things to do...and they said they don't have a single loaner available. I genuinely cannot stand poor service, and this is definitely what I call poor service. read more

It's amazing this place is still in business. I live right up the road. I own 2 Chevys and a GMC Denali. I tried buying a vehicle from them and they give "used car salesmen" a bad name. I tried to go to them for service on my 2017 Denali Sat afternoon. No one was able to schedule an apt told me I had to leave a message for the one and only person who does all the scheduling. This place does not understand the importance of sticking to your word. From their reluctance to provide written documentation, to their blatant lying on the telephone,* if you decide to buy from this place, make them sign a waiver first. *They were supposed to bring over the car on Wednesday. Because of "paperwork issues" (they should have known about these) they "couldn't" bring over the car. On Friday, they again "couldn't" bring over the car, because the agent was "sick." So when will it be delivered? "Oh, it won't be for a while." (The financing already went through.) Why not? Someone being sick doesn't keep them out of work indefinitely! "Well, he might be busy next week. Also, you didn't call us back right away." Oh, so he isn't sick - you just are upset about me calling you back in a few hours? "I can't talk anymore now." I went in looking to buy a car and after not having the greatest of experiences previously at a Ford dealer a couple of weeks before, I was pleasantly surprised. Chris from Chevy was super nice and not pushy at all! I got the sense that he wanted to make the sale but never made me feel like the decision was anybody's but mine. He offered me a test drive in any of the cars I looked at and crammed in the back of each car with my boyfriend so I could make sure there was plenty of room.
