I currently live here at Hunters Run and honestly I'm shocked after reading some of the reviews. I've been here for almost a year and so far it's been pretty good for me . I don't see the managers as lazy , or nosey . In fact , to me they appear nop to be on the ball in every aspect of their duties . They are always professional and they are on top of the game . When ever I need something done , or fixed , they are quick to react and I always get a kick outta the maintance guys just cuz they are light hearted and friendly and they do their job in a timely manner . And as far as the girlies go , well girls will be girls . Hahahaha Just joking and I need to quit that cuz I'm already feeling Devas eyes rolling and Melissa's in the corner chuckling . They really don't know how to take me , but honestly it's all in good fun. Yeah I can get mad once in awhile , but it blows over quick cause they always fix my problems and they seem , in general , to be well rounded and soil rooted .Melissa is always laughing and Devas is always scrutinizing , but the job is always getting done and that's what counts. I have had a few problems , but they were fairly minor , but most importantly my trucks still here , but buggers are gone and that's how I like it. Plus the pool and the Jacuzzi can bring me out of depression , just as fast as the neighbors can lift me up. Pretty much everyone here is friendly and willing to help me when I need it , all except the jerk who stole my cans out of my truck . That guy can go to FOOD 4LESS , which is really close and convenient , or all I care. Anyways , what I'm saying is that so far , life here is goodier than good on most days and when it's badder than good , well I'll just take it with the rest of my problems over to the office so Melissa can laugh at it . See Deva , this is part of what I meant when I said that my mouth will cause me future problems . No one understands me Also I wanna say that as far as the people who are saying the walls are thin goes , I'm not seeing/ hearing that . I never hear my neighbors music , or TV EVER and my apartment doesn't get too hot , or too cold either , it's always warm and fuzzy , with an occasional beep for a battery , or a cocks crowing for its morning slap , all being the only noise made here . So that makes this place quiet on the home front and crazy on the down low . Oh and as far as the deposit never getting back to ya' , we will just have to see about that . Lived at Hunters Run for 8 years and absolutely loved the place. The family friendly environment was a pleasure. I lived alone but never felt alone. The ladies in the office were amazing, they were always pleasant, friendly and professional. The grounds are immaculate, as well as the laundry room and pool area. The first time I lived here it was just me, and now I've returned with my husband and son--which shows how much we truly love this community. The property is quiet, safe, and well maintained, with great amenities that make everyday life comfortable. One of the best parts of living here is the sense of community. My neighbors are friendly, respectful, and always looking out for one another, which gives us real peace of mind as a family. I know you guys see the bad reviews and think this place can't be that bad but coming someone that's never wrote a review before TRUST ME! do not even think about living at Hunters, Renting here was one of the worst decisions I've ever made. From the beginning, the apartment was poorly maintained--broken appliances, constant plumbing issues, and paper-thin walls that made privacy nonexistent. Management was unresponsive and dismissive whenever we reported maintenance problems. But the biggest issue? They blatantly scammed us out of our security deposit. We left the apartment in better condition than we found it--cleaned everything thoroughly, documented the move-out with photos, and still got hit with ridiculous, made-up charges. When we tried to dispute it, management either ignored our calls/emails or gave vague excuses that didn't hold up under scrutiny. This feels like a common practice for them. I've since found out from neighbors and former tenants that we're not the only ones they've pulled this stunt on. If you value your money, time, and sanity, stay far away from this place. There are better, more honest landlords out there who won't treat their tenants like disposable income. Living at Hunters Run has become a major struggle in the last year. Massive Massive rent increases!! So many people have had to move out. Increased fees for tenants that only serve managements/owners. Many people are living piled upon one another because of the exorbitant rents here for the smallest spaces. Not improvements, Not new appliances -- BUT INCREASES & cute little FEES. Someone is eating high on the hog while tenants are making it by barely on ramen. If you want to see your rent go up by illogical and unreasonable amounts, then sign up at hunters run. You will become the hunted and hopefully you won't end up homeless by the end of your contract!! My boyfriend and I lived here for 1 year. Great clean space and the pool and grounds are beautifully kept. Being so close to shops and restaurants and even downtown El Cajon was amazing ! Our downstairs neighbor complained of us "stomping" but we were just walking around so something to be aware of if you live downstairs. The walls are thin and everyone can hear everything so not much privacy. THIS APARTMENT IS SO HOT. And the AC does absolutely nothing unless you sit directly in front of it. Melissa is really nice and helpful. Dava is incredibly helpful and extremely kind and understanding. She was a great help during our move-out process. However, the reviews about being scammed from your security deposit do have some truth. I recommend doing the initial inspection with them at least a couple days before you have to give your keys back so you can get the list of everything they want you to fix in order to not be charged. If you can find a cleaning crew for cheap, do that!!! because this apartment does expect you to leave every nook and cranny sparkling clean. And I mean EVERY nook and cranny like the inside of the track on the doors and windows, the blinds, the floorboards, and any possible speck or reflection of dirt on the wall. Inspect your walls during all times of the day because Dava would notice things that I thought I was going crazy because I couldn't see them. If they give you a high estimate at the initial inspection (like they did to us. They were going to give us almost nothing back) I recommended discussing with them and pushing back a little to see if you can come to an agreement. Like I said before, Dava is really nice and helpful during this process. She was understanding when we were upset and was willing to work together on a solution. read more

Don't get me wrong beautiful place but Melissa and Deeva love to lie and mislead. We put in applications in June. After they ran them they said " well your previous landlord put something negative on your credit that's why we have to deny you. When we found out we fixed the problem. Melissa said yea ok but nothing else. Well we found they had a studio for 1675 on an Apartment rental website and so I called and Melissa brought up our application and report again. Got everything straighten out. But she still kept giving us excuses. So I went on a website and found a guy's name associated with Hunters Run David. So I called him I talked to him and an hour later Melissa called me and said we would like to continue with the rental please bring in your section 8 voucher and we will get it all done. We took a bus over and we sat with her. Deeva decided to leave. We sat there and she said ok I'll take the voucher and it's for Apartment 33 and it's a 1 bedroom for 1875 5 Dollars off this month. We just need to run your application again. I was like um...ook but then she started adding all these other fees to the price, you have 1875 for rent, deposit is 1000 and then you also have to pay separate for water, sewer and trash. I was like well then what's the actual rent for?? So I asked what about the studio for rent? That's advertised? She said oh no that's gone. I was like well we can't afford the 1 bedroom and that's not what we came here for. So we went to leave and she tried to keep the voucher! She seems to think the voucher is just a paper she sends section 8 to see If they approve rent prices. I told her noooo that's to tell section 8 to inspect and pay. When we give you that and the security deposit we get the keys and sign the lease. Well she didn't think so . So I took it back and also the other papers we signed and left. I called David and ironically he never called back. Melissa called me and said what's going on? I then asked her why she had to re run our applications and she said well that was back in June I said nothing has changed and she said well I still have to call your previous landlords. I said you haven't done that yet? I even gave you all their names and numbers You could have called them yesterday and she said well I didn't. So it was a stall tactic. She didn't run a complete application screening when it was first paid for. That told me they didn't really want us there. Talk about bait n switch and conning people pfft!!! read more

Lived here for 4 years. There are pros and cons to this complex but overall a good place to live. Pros: -Dava the landlord is very on top of her job and will answer any questions or concerns as quick as she can. -Maintenance request get done very quickly, usually within 2-3 days because maintenance is on side 5 days a week. -Additional parking spots are available at a extra cost per month. You may be placed on a wait list, but are able to get a spot fairly quickly. -a lot of tenants walk around the complex to exercise so it seems very safe. Never experienced any questionable behavior in the complex. Cons: -Visitor parking is almost non existent. There are about 12 spots in the front for visitors but people leave their cars there so they are always taken. There are about 5 spots near the pool that you can park overnight if needed but those fill up fast as well. -The apartments lack good insulation. In the summer, it gets and stays extremely hot inside the unit and the in wall AC unit is terrible. Same with the winter time, it's freezing inside. -Stairs! If you are on a higher level, be ready to walk up/down the stairs. -***The MOST annoying con of this complex was the landscapers. The 2 landscapers are on site Monday-Friday 7-4pm and they are very loud. One of the guys uses the blower everyday 2-3 times a day and it's extremely loud. The landscapers work no matter what weather it is outside, even in the wind/rain. It used to wake my baby up every single time they would work. He will also blow leaves and dirt on your car and then blow your car off as well. My husband said something to him twice as rocks and dirt were getting blown on our cars, but it didn't stop him. I feel like they were paid to do nothing as most of the time they were just making a lot of noise. The blowing was extremely frustrating as it was constant and even with the windows closed, was still loud. -The rent gets raised pretty significantly at the end of every lease and water/trash/sewer is close to $100 every month. We cleaned out apartment from top to bottom for hours and still did not get out complete deposit back, but we lived there for 4 years so I'm sure it was because of wear and tear in some areas. They did charge us for light bulbs being out, which I think was not right. But, overall a good place to live if you are okay with these cons. read more

This place needs a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT brought against them for withholding people's deposit!!! I finally was able to move out of this unethical place and gave them plenty of notice (May 2) so they'd be able to find a new tenant! (My lease ended June 29) I realized they were not advertising my apartment (#97) so I found someone looking to move within the next month. I brought this up to Dava and she said they could only apply for a different apartment because mine was already taken and the new tenant had already put a security deposit down. I thought that was great and so I was worry free up until Wednesday June 29 when I look online to find that I owe the entire months rent plus a carpet cleaning, professional cleaning, a huge utility bill, repairs--and so they're keeping my entire security deposit PLUS I owe THEM now. I thought it must've been a mistake and when I called, Dava made it seem she had no idea why the bill was so high and said only Melissa handles that. So then I call TODAY again and Melissa is not there but now Dava reveals that indeed they actually DIDNT rent out my apartment all month so now I'm responsible for all of that. They didn't even think of letting me know or giving me the option to rent the place out to someone I knew. I'm certain they did not make an effort to rent my apartment out. My boyfriend and I lived here for a little over a year, and we loved it. When we moved (to be closer to work) we still had one month left on our lease and decided to go rent responsible, not thinking we would get anything back- but we did! The management here was able to re-lease our apartment quickly and get us a big chunk of our money back. We loved all the greenery, the renovated kitchen and appliances, the management, and the maintenance team here. Update: We were sad to move out, but we gave a 30 day notice. It was an easy process. Dava offered a walk through so that we knew what we needed to prepare before our move out. They were super helpful and we got out itemized bill in a timely manner. We miss the peaceful quiet nights and we will always recommend Hunters Run Apartments. I love living at Hunter's Run Apartments. The management upkeep's the property and theAny issue that I have ever had, Dava has been on top of it. For the person that said, they come into your apartment without notice can't be true. Firstly, any time they have entered is with a 24 hour notice, that was posted on the door and more than 24 hours were provided. They checked the smoke detectors, again awesome upkeep. Maintenance request is always taken care of in reasonable time and they always ask if they have permission to enter. Also, the pool is always clean and the hot tub as well. Now, my friends are impressed that there is courtesy patrol around the property. Here is my favorite part about living here, it's super peaceful and quiet. You get an assigned parking space and if you need another it's $25 more. DO NOT RENT HERE! Melissa and Dava the apartment managers have literally laughed in my face after towing my car. I feel very much picked on and have also heard from others that they've targeted POC! They've condescending and belittling towards me since I moved in. I have called and made multiple attempts to resolve my issues and have not received ONE CALL from them. No communication, you physically have to go see them in person while they chat amongst themselves not doing a damn thing. Also you will be charged for; leaving trash outside your door before throwing it in the dumpster, having more than 1 parking spot, stains on the outdoor concrete staircases, and they will CONSTANTLY need to come in to your apartment at least once a month for various issues. read more

I lived here for one year and it was ok, nothing special. I lived by myself in the apartment and upon moving out I was charged for a carpet clean and paint job. The carpet fee I understood but the paint job I didn't because I have no pets, no kids, no parties, don't smoke, and I did not hang one thing on the wall SPECIFICALLY because I knew I would be moving out in a year as I wanted all of my deposit back. I cleaned the apt spotless therefore I was not charged for cleaning or anything else. I truly feel as though they just wanted to get money out of me. I put in my 30 day notice before my lease was up and they still charged me for the remaining days I didn't live there so bravo to anyone who got their money back. Pros - I actually liked my newly renovated apt. I liked how clean the premises always looked. The managers were nice to me. Didn't really have an issue with them per say. I liked that they have safety patrol for the apts at night. Cons - They'll leave a notice on your door every other month so maintenance can inspect "something". The apt is set up to where they have to come into your bedroom. It is very uncomfortable being a women who lives alone. I took off work each time and mind you they are only there for like 2 mins if that. I have never lived in any apt where they need to come in all the time as it did feel like an invasion of privacy. Homeless people rummage through the garbage and you will literally see them all day everyday on that street which I really did not expect when I moved in. Washers do not wash clothes good at all, so I would go to the shopping center right next door to wash however the dryers in the apt are good and can dry 2 loads of clothing at one time. No visitor parking which sucks for people who often have visitors as they have to park on the street which is far from the apt. You do have the option of paying about $30-50 for additional parking spots on top of $1400 rent for a one bedroom. read more

Been here 2 years and I'm very happy. Price - The rent is reasonable for every floor plan Inside the apartment - No frills. basic but in good shape. Pets - no Landscaping - always looks great and the workers are always friendly. Parking - This played a big role in my decision to live here. The parking space are wide. Great for elderly and large people. No more squeezing in or door dings. Management - Professional and friendly. With apartments you're lucky to get one or the other. Kid stuff - No play ground which as a swinging single I'm ok with. Has a pool and that's about it. No playing in the parking lot or tearing up the grass. All in all this place is a great fit for me. Quiet a lot of the time, friendly responsive staff, great parking, and nice landscaping. No 5th star because of how basic the apartments are. read more

The leasing office staff is kind and responsive, the grounds keeping staff kept the complex looking nice and green, and maintenance did great jobs the few times I needed maintenance done on my apartment. If I could give any lower than one star I would. If you're looking for a place where you don't feel comfortable at all have no amount of privacy and have horrific mangers then Hunter's run Apartments is for you. The managers will gladly look into your apartment at any given time with no warning whatsoever and profile you before they even know you. Melissa not only has one of the most disgusting attitude I've ever gotten from a professional but also has the laziest work ethic I've ever seen in any head management type of position. All the managers here are among some of the laziest and worst managers with most disgusting attitude I have ever had the displeasure of meeting in my entire life. If you're currently living here don't expect to get any amount of your deposit back. Melissa literally came in and looked in my fridge I had a speck on my fridge and told me that the whole fridge need to be cleaned I've been deep cleaning this apartment for two days and there's barely a spot anywhere, they will find anything to not give your money back be warned(read other reviews as well). After living here for two months our car got broken into. A big reason we moved in here is because Dava one of the managers told us that we would be able to access cameras if anything like that were to happen. Well that was yet another lie told by yeh management of this apartment building. They refused to let us see the cameras to see who broke into our car after being told by a security guard that the camera footage is crystal clear and we can definitely see who broke into our car if we had access. On top of all of this there is a STEADY flow of homeless people who are constantly rummaging through the dumpsters at all hours of the day and night. You'll see at least 3 homeless people just leaving to work in the morning. Not only this but we were told security is on the premises off hours until day break, well that again was a lie because the night our car got broken into the security guard left at 2am. Again, if you're looking to be absolutely miserable and uncomfortable in the place you live then Hunters Run is for you. First off management is AMAZING! I have never experienced this type of service. I have made maybe two calls to them so far, the issues were very important to them and handled same day. One in regards to workers in my unit and other involving my ac. (Not huge issues). Second-everyone that I have run into in the complex are super sweet. Third NO bugs- never experienced but always good for people to know. Third I love the granite counter tops in kitchen and bathroom. Only issue I have is the AC. Mom(83) yrs old, has been there 4 yrs. She got ill, had to go in Hospital, then Nursing Home. I brought in Dr note, which is Legal to break lease. She paid $900 for Jan, even though she was no longer there, so Family could clean out, very immaculate apt. Keys returned in 12 days. They continue to threaten me that she MUST pay $900 on Feb 1st if apt. not rented. NOT TRUE. Do they really want me to wheel my frail Mother into court? She always paid rent on time, quiet, clean. Now she's dying & they threaten me 3 times now. Jerks. I'm going to Fair Housing Services on Monday to stop the harrassement. My Mother is very hurt, and stressed. Beware don't live in these apartments if you plan on mounting your flat screen t.v. on the wall in any of the rooms. You'll be charged when you move for the little holes in the wall. Oh yeah the light bulbs in your bathroom above the mirror cost $13 to replace 2 bulbs. Be super careful not to spill any liquids on the carpet because the moisture will never go away and wait it gets better the carpet will be replaced for $160. Don't bother scrubbing out the oven pans cause they will charge you $30 dollars. Last but not least paint. We all know the best part of moving into an apartment is the fresh smell of paint. Well that comes at a price of $150.00 for a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom. Thus the moral of the story, you can kiss your $500.00 dollar deposit good bye for the average normal fixtures of moving out of a 800sq ft apartment that you lived in for longer then 1yr. Whatever you do, do not move here! The management is nosey AF and are always in your business, especially if you are single and would like to have a guest over. They will call and hound you about their guest policy. Leave notices on your door ETC. Along with, No parking for guest because most of the people who live their use the guest parking for their 2nd car mainly cause the complex wants to charge $40.00 a month for extra parking. I have lived here for about 3 years or so and I love it! The staff is great, anytime I have a maintenance issue it's taken care of right away, and they ensure to address any complaint made by one resident, with the surrounding residents to confirm if the complaint is valid. While I've lived here, I have watched the community grow and change, the pool has been Re done, they put out new patio furniture, plants, etc to make the community nicer. They also have overnight security to ensure there are no break ins etc. I feel safe here and I truly enjoy living here! read more

I've been leaving here for a couple of months now and overall the apartment complex is just ok. For starters the day my boyfriend and I were moving in there was a homeless man who broke in OUR unit the night before and rushed out when we proceeded to the door. That was a red flag for us in the beginning! Not to mention that we weren't compensated anything for their negligence. I hate the fact that you are only given one parking spot and there is absolutely no visitor parking, so hopefully you don't have any friends or family who want to visit! They use to allow you to call the leasing office though to ask for an open spot to use for guests during the day, but when I just got off the phone to ask for a spot mellisa told me that they don't do that anymore, even though I was able to get two spots for the day from another leasing agent the following week. The complex also states that they do not allow dogs but I have seen a total of 6 dogs on the property walking around openly during the day around the leasing office lol. It's a joke here! read more
