Food was well prepared and tasty but took 45 minutes. They were out of 2 sides and ran out of cheese for sandwiches - before 12 noon. So, if you want to support local businesses, give it a try. But if you have somewhere to be (i.e., reservation for any event or entry) be aware. Outside tables have lovely view of the mountains. read more

Very friendly, fast service AND the food was delicious! I love finding local businesses that care about quality and service!

Wow! We stopped for breakfast this morning not expecting much and were blown away. We had the Breakfast Reuben and the Corned Beef breakfast special. We also ordered seasonal lattes that included homemade blueberry and strawberry syrups. Everything was so delicious. I loved that the coffee was just sweet enough and that the coffee itself had a mellow flavor vs being really bitter. We loved eating outside on their patio with the beautiful view of the garden. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. read more

Cool cafe vibe, fresh yummy food and the very BEST smoothies and coffee. My family and I come here often and it's always good. They also are accommodating for my celiac disease and it's so nice to have options for me here. read more

Our sandwiches were delicious as were our mimosas! Our orders were taken and ready within 10 minutes. I'll be going back in the future to try something on their breakfast menu. read more

We were on a mini road trip and drove through this town during lunch time. The workers were nice and attentive and the food was delish I got the green goddess Cobb salad with the maple honey vinaigrette that was great, and also ordered an iced chai tea latte. One of the best I've had in a long time! read more

Crazy wait time for our food. Order two breakfast burritos waited an hour for the food. Burritos were okay, not worth the wait

$71 for our breakfast (pancakes for 4 people, one coffee drink two milks and some bacon on the side). It took an hour to get our food. When we got it, the pancakes tasted like oil. Many customers around us brought dogs onto the porch where we were eating, so we listened to barking while waiting the hour and then while eating our pancakes. We didn't even finish the food, it ended up in the trash. After all that we have clean off the tables ourselve and throw all the food away. It was awful. Honestly the worst breakfast we've ever had. read more

A lifetime first: I demanded a refund and walked out of this place today after having waited about 75 minutes for 2 omelets, with the place half empty for at least 30 minutes before we left. The staff were bored, blasé young women who didn't seem to think that kind of wait was unreasonable. Indeed, after I had complained before that I'd already waited for an hour, they put a sign at the register saying that waits of 1:00 to 1:15 should be expected. The only thing I ended up actually trying here was the coffee, which was cheap-quality, watery and flavorless. How is this place still in business? Just the worst. read more

Had breakfast today at this place and the food was delicious. There is a huge menu of food for breakfast or lunch choices that also includes different drink options. You pay for your meal as you order it and the staff give you a number to bring to the table you choose to sit at and then they bring your order to you as it is ready. The service are friendly and helpful with anything you may need. The place was comfortable with booth seating to choose from and had another dining area in case you didn't want to sit in booths. There is an outdoor area to eat if you choose. Had a nice experience here and I would recommend this place as an option when in that area. read more

This was our first visit to this area and we loved it. Franconia is smaller and quieter than the other local more commercialized ski towns and we were thrilled we chose this town. We visited The Hungry Bear for breakfast during the very busy leaf-peeper season so we were not surprised that there was a 30-minute wait for our food. We didn't mind because we were able to sit at the outside tables and enjoy the weather and the mountain views. Our family enjoyed breakfast burrito, bagel sandwiches, smoothies, hot tea, and remarked especially how good the coffee was. The staff appeared to be owners and family and were attentive and friendly. Overall an excellent place to visit! Hungry bear Home Search Trips Review Account read more

Put our order in at the counter and they gave us our number. An hour later and still no food. Judging by the empty tables the restaurant was at least half empty so I don't get what the issue was. I went back to the front counter to find if our food was ever coming and we were not the only people asking for their food. Needless to say they said 10 more minutes but what they really meant was 30 more minutes. An hour and a half wait for an omelette and Ruben sandwich, completely unacceptable. Never again. And the sandwich was mediocre read more

we stopped by here because we were super hungry and we thought the place looked cute - however after we ate the vegetarian wrap here, we had to immediately eat the half opened Cheetos in our car to salvage our taste buds. the vegetarian wrap had no seasoning at all, and it was literally dripping (from the spinach, we presume). i thought the cranberry chicken walnut sandwich was alright (3/5) but the vegetarian wrap being so bad really is why I am giving this place a 2/5. this place also has free wifi by the way, and plenty of seating indoors and out. I would recommend going for the non vegetarian items! read more

Cozy little hidden spot right off 93. I've always enjoyed the food and the owner is there pretty often and is always willing to chitchat with the guests. VERY extensive menu with some really enjoyable smoothies. read more

Tasty and cute! Other resturants nearby were so busy so we decided to come here instead. Delicious flavors of hot and iced coffee. Clean

My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast, had great bagel sandwiches/omelets, and decided to order some homemade bagels to take home. I asked for a dozen, the guy visibly blanched and said they only had flavors without any toppings other than everything, I get the bagels, and we leave. In the car we inspected the bagels and they were so clearly store bought bagels, they were perfectly shaped with the classic cut edge, and the everything topping was distributed perfectly. Our bagel sandwiches were clearly on homemade bagels, but the dozen we bought were not. He charged me 13$ for store bought bagels I could get anywhere. It felt super scummy to charge me the full price for homemade bagels. It's a bummer because the food was good, but I will not be returning since instead of being honest they chose to prioritize the sale and give me bagels from a grocery store. read more

Hungry bear always gives you a great meal. I always leave full. Everything on the menu is delicious - you can't go wrong. The staff is always so sweet. The owner Jeremy is the coolest guy- so very nice. If you are in Franconia or in the area - definitely stop by. You will not be disappointed. read more

I stood at the counter for 7 minutes waiting to be helped but there was no acknowledgment that I was there. When I finally got the chance to ask if I could buy a muffin I was told in a rude manner "in one minute." The muffins are in a plastic container and they don't recycle. Why not use a cardboard container? Do better. read more

LOVED. 100% recommend the strawberry milkshake. I got a Reuben and my mom got a chicken salad sandwich which she said was the best ever. Their bagels were amazing and they had so many drink options. Service was good. ate on paper plates which was strange but the food outnumbered it. A place you could go to once a week, and it would still not be enough read more

I stopped in for lunch and enjoyed a buffalo chicken salad and corn chowder. Both items is a bit much for one person. The large salad came with a generous portion of buffalo chicken that was flavorful but not too spicy. The soup came in a large bowl and had a smooth consistency and good flavor. I also got a chicken sandwich and cinnamon roll to go for later that warmed up nicely in the microwave and had good flavor. The cinnamon roll had a decent amount of cinnamon, kind of a flaky pastry consistency and a flavorful but not overly sweet frosting. I'd come back again for both. read more

The food is good but service is spotty. Understandably in today's job market it is hard to find help. But..train the ones there to acknowledge customer's, we don't bite and we DO understand, however when ignored for more than 5 mins whilst directly in front of me....I'll spend my money at another business. P.S. this was not the 1st time at this business. read more

The food is fine. They seem to be consistently understaffed. The coffee tastes totally burned. This place does not offer tap water. They encourage you to buy a single use plastic bottle and then throw it into the trash. Incredibly irresponsible. This is the first and last time I will be here. read more

Simple place. Don't come here looking for a full service restaurant, you order at the counter, sit down and the food comes to you. Grab your utensils and napkins too. Nothing fancy. Food was OK, got us through the day. Coffees were great. Iced chai was amazing. read more

This place sucks. It's called Hungry Bear because you are going to leave here a hungry bear. We came here for breakfast because the reviews were good. I don't think I've ever had such a disappointing breakfast. The first tell that we should have gone elsewhere was we thought the place was closed as there were no cars and the inside was dark. The breakfast menu also isn't anything exciting. I ordered 2 eggs scrambled and a grilled everything bagel with nothing on it as they were sold out of almost all of their cream cheese (plain wasn't even available) and an iced coffee. My eggs were, well eggs, and my bagel was toasted not grilled. I only took a few bites of the eggs and ate the bagel. My iced coffee I dumped because it literally tasted like someone emptied an ash tray in it. My fiancé had a bacon and ham omelette and I didn't even want a bite of it. He says it was okay but the bacon was definitely microwaved. Complete waste of time and $25. We left here and instead went a few doors down and waited in line for 20 minutes to get iced coffee and that was well worth it. read more

Unbelievable Egg White Omelette with all the veggies & protein, tasting amazing & portion was great. Highly recommend.

The food was OK. I wanted to like this place and support a local business. What really ruined it for us was the paper plates and plastic "silverware", so much waist! They also wouldn't t give us one cup of water, but told us to buy a plastic bottle. In a town like Franconia you would think there they bit more sustainable.... Highly disappointed. read more

An awesome spot to grab coffee and breakfast sandwiches! I've had a lot of breakfast Sammie's in my day and these are top notch! Highly recommend the Brooklyn Boy and the Franconia! Also their iced chai was flavorful! Make sure to stop on by if you're skiing or in the area! read more

One of the worst breakfasts I've ever had! Started by walking in and since I had never been there, was waiting to be greeted. So... that didn't happen, so walked up to counter to a young woman who stood there staring at us. We asked if we could be seated, at which time she finally spoke and said we needed to order first and they would bring it to our table. Okay, so I ordered the steak breakfast burrito, which was clearly written out on the menu. She then said we don't have that, we have a wrap. I said it's right there on the menu, she looked as if I had just given her the most complex trigonometry problem to solve. Okay, so she started saying something at which time I said "Pardon me?" as she was speaking so quietly I couldn't hear anything she was saying. Finally rung it in. My partner then asked for a traditional eggs and bacon breakfast, and again she started saying something but again we couldn't hear her. He said "Excuse me?". While leaning in to try and hear her. Finally ordered our food and went to sit down. Breakfast arrives shortly after on Dixie paper plates with plastic wear. My "Steak" breakfast burrito consisted of mostly green peppers and eggs. The little bit of steak that was on it looked like burnt crumbled steak-ums. And when I say little bit of steak, I mean little, like maybe the size of a quarter spread out. The other breakfast had burnt toast, and bacon that was so burnt it crumbled as soon as we picked it up. $45 dollars for a breakfast that was inedible! The coffee was good, but needless to say, we will never go back. Actually I would speed up just to get by this place while driving by it! read more

We are thrilled to see new restaurant in this space! We quickly realized from the bagels, this was the owners of the Bagel Depot, food was good and service was friendly.
